I was a Patient there for approximately 9 months. A Wonderful Atmosphere and you’re surrounded by ppl who Really Care. Especially the Counselors, My Counselor in Particular. Her Name was Jenn. A Wonderful Person and an Absolute Dear young Lady. She was Extremely informative and Knows just how to make you feel Comfortable and Cared For. I was going through a Rough patch, but looked Forward to my meetings with her every week and Every time I left her office, I ALWAYS FELT BETTER AND FELT LIKE SOMEONE CARED.. I can Honestly Say, Meeting Jenn was a Highlight of my Time there. I only left there because I found a place Much Closer to my home out East. But my Counselor there will always be close to my heart. And I Thank Her Dearly. All in all, a Wonderful Place to Get Clean and Stay Clean 👍🏻😁

An amazing group of individuals helping those of us who not only want or need help, but are there helping us work through not only our addictions but emotions. 10 out of 10 Would recommend if you’re in need… pretty much anything that will make you feel better about yourself by helping you… understand yourself. And it’s nice to sit in a group of peers judgement free. There is nothing but love pouring out of this place. And as a side note after reading lower rated posts. I have no insurance and they have done absolutely nothing more than help me and be there for me. Please if you feel you need some help, give them a call. It’s worth it.

After years of trying everything we could think of, my wife and I finally found Westport House. Our son was admitted quickly and efficiently, and, from that point on, our experience was incredible. After a couple of months we saw a noticeable change in our son. The staff was very timely in their correspondence with us and always treated us appropriately. During his time there, our son became actively involved in Alcoholics Anonymous, obtained employment, and began treating us and others with a level of respect we did not know he was capable of. He stayed there for 7 months, and I can say, it was very much worth every penny. Our son is still sober today and continues to attend the AA meetings that he went to during his time at Westport House. We cannot thank Westport House enough for giving us our son back. After 7 painful years, the change that he was able to make in his life is incredible, and it is all thanks to the great staff and services at Westport House.

After being in and out of many different rehabs, it was at Westport House that I learned how to live a brand new life. The staff was kind, loving, and compassionate. The atmosphere is relaxed, comfortable, and the incredibly supportive! Being able to see their therapists and clinical team was also essential in aiding my recovery. I'm so grateful for the life Westport House gave me.

In 2001, I walked into St. Christopher’s Inn broken and lost in addiction. I’ve been sober ever since. Out of all the places I went, this was the place where it finally clicked for me. Their long term program and tough love approach were exactly what I needed no sugarcoating, no excuses, just real recovery and real accountability. If you’re truly tired of the life of drug abuse and genuinely want to change, I highly recommend St. Christopher’s Inn. The staff, the structure, and the brotherhood helped save my life. I was so lost and giving up on life and a few good suggestions brought me here. Everyone from the friar in charge of the inn to security and maintenance made me feel welcome. The counselors are the best I’ve ever dealt with. My counselor was amazing, the physco therapist helped me realize things on my own and a former resident who is now staff related to my issues making me comfortable with the process. That guy was a godsend. These people helped me with my addiction issues more in 6 months then I’ve been able to do over the last 30 years. I now have hope and a blueprint that I follow to live a life in recovery. I could never thank them enough

Hi everybody! I am a current resident at Samaritan village's inpatient and methadone facility and I think they have a wonderful program! I have been to many programs and this is by far the best. In their residential program, you have access you methadone maintainence although it is not required, you receive your psychiatric medications and have an on premises psychiatrist and primary care Dr although you may see your own. I see theirs and they are wonderful. They do not chastise you if your on a controlled psychiatric medications, it is considered and often allowed if you have a diagnosed. They offer both methadone and Suboxone and the clinic in the Richmond Hill facility has their methadone clinic right downstairs so you can dose upon waking up. The staff is caring and professional, and the community is caring as well. Well that's about all I have to say! If you are struggling with substance abuse and looking to change your life, look no further! This place is 5* and fully covered by almost all insurance as far as I know! I have Medicaid and they cover my services here God bless you all!

So, I didn’t know they had specialty clinics (but they do), and I had an appointment on the 3rd floor which was the gynecology and childbirth/labor department. Now, as a dude, I was like, “am I even in the right place?” But there was a really kind lady, I wish I had gotten her name (and I think she was a nurse in the gynecology department) who directed me to my clinic after asking her peers and I appreciate that all the staff were very helpful and willing to take time out of what they were doing to help a lost fella like me. Now, regarding parking, there is valet parking and there is paid* parking across the street. I think it’s paid for visitors but free for patients (I didn’t have to pay for parking). You drive in and you get a ticket, similar to some shopping centers. Pricing varies depending on how long you stay but and there are license plate scanners so they know your every movement. I think the lowest tier is 30 minutes - 1 hour for $6. Walking in, the first thing I noticed is how much nicer the hospital has gotten. I was a patient back in 2011 (when I was 4) and while I do believe the doctors and nurses were a hundred times more caring back then, I do think they are still caring about their patients now. The biggest thing I would change about this hospital are first impressions - let me clarify. There were two young black girls at the counter when you walk in (one of them managed the line for patients, the other one managed a separate line for visitors). I was waking in as a patient. The young girl that was going to check me in seemed annoyed that I took a tad bit longer to pull out my drivers license, since all patients and visitors need to have their ID’s scanned (varies by age). Why have people that seem angry at people walking in for care? Needless to say, my doctors were all chill and helpful. That said, the day-to-day experience can be inconsistent. Wait times—especially in the ER—can be very long, sometimes hours, and communication isn’t always clear. Some patients report feeling overlooked or having difficulty getting updates during their stay. One thing that stands out about this hospital is its accommodation for Jewish patients, which is important given the large Jewish community in the area. The hospital is generally Sabbath-friendly, with features such as: - Shabbat elevators (automatic operation, no button pressing) - Availability of kosher, halal, vegan, blah blah blah food options upon request Sensitivity to religious observances, including modesty and scheduling when possible However, like many big institutions, the hospital can feel overcrowded and impersonal at times. But, despite the negatives, I think this hospital is better than LIJ a few blocks down.

The goings-on at St. Albans Naval Hospital on Long Island were enough to make any Navy captain blink. Sailors and marines were involved; so were WAVES and civilians. It was happening in phone booths, on the ladders, even in the middle of the corridors. To tough-minded Captain C. F. Behrens, executive officer, it was a matter for emergency action. He drafted a stern, four-paragraph memorandum: "Lovemaking and lollygagging are hereby strictly forbidden. . . ." Then he got right down to cases. "The holding of hands, osculation and constant embracing of WAVES, corpsmen or civilians and sailors or any combination of male & female personnel is a violation of naval discipline. . . ." Captain E. D. McMorries, medical officer in command, backed him up. Said Captain McMorries: "The decorum of the institution is paramount." Time Magazine, 1946

It’s hard to believe that in a couple of months it will be two years since I walked into the doors of Center for Discovery Congress. My time at CFD was truly transformative. From the moment I arrived, I was met with warmth, compassion, and an incredible level of care. The staff—therapists, dietitian, and counselors—were not only knowledgeable but deeply invested in my healing journey and SO extremely patient with me. What made my experience so impactful was the holistic approach to recovery. They didn’t just focus on my eating disorder; they helped me address the underlying trauma that contributed to it. Through specialized trauma work, I was able to process past experiences in a safe and supportive environment. The therapy sessions, whether group or one-on-one, gave me the tools to navigate my emotions, build resilience, and truly begin healing from the inside out. Beyond the incredible care, one of the most meaningful parts of my journey was the connections I formed with others in treatment. Being surrounded by individuals who truly understood my struggles created a sense of belonging I had never felt before. The friendships I built during my time at CFD became a source of strength and encouragement, reminding me that I was never alone in this process. We supported each other through the ups and downs, celebrated victories—big and small—and formed bonds that will last a lifetime. The environment itself was nurturing and free of judgment, allowing me to focus entirely on recovery. Every meal was a step forward, supported by professionals who understood the complexities of my struggles. They gave me the tools to helped start rebuilding my relationship with food, my body, and most importantly, myself. Center for Discovery Congress gave me hope when I felt lost. They empowered me with the strength and skills to move forward, not just in my recovery from an eating disorder, but in my overall healing from trauma. I am forever grateful for their kindness, patience, and unwavering support. If you or a loved one are struggling, I wholeheartedly recommend Center for Discovery—you will be in the best hands possible, surrounded by a community that truly cares.

I was at Center for Discovery for 5 and a half months. Out of all the 31 treatment places I have been this one was by far the best. The staff are amazing and so caring and really have all the clients best interest in mind. You are not just another client… you become part of the congress house where everyone cares so deeply about everyone. The staff go above and beyond to make sure that everyone is getting the right treatment that is good for them. I liked how individualized each person’s treatment was. I am very lucky that I got to have Angela as my therapist. Angela helped me in more ways than I could ever express. This in it’s own shows how amazing and devoted the staff are to ensuring each person’s recovery. Angela was going on call (leaving as the full time therapist) but stayed an extra three months to be my therapist until I discharged. The clinical director Sam took vacation days so that Angela could come in and see me (technically Angela wasn’t supposed to come in because she was on call). because Sam knew how important it was for my recovery to continue the work with Angela. I have never been to any other treatment center that would do that or even think about doing that. That in itself made a huge impact on me that they were willing to go out of their ways to ensure I get the best possible treatment. Sam is an amazing clinical director and I really look up to her a lot. Some of the staff have been there for 8-10 years which is rare for ed treatment centers. That in itself shows how great Sam is. The groups were all great as well and the counselors are all amazing. I learned so many coping skills that I implement into my everyday life. You can also check in with your therapist as many times as you need and you can also check in with the other therapist’s as well. Dorcas and all the nurses are also amazing and go above and beyond to make sure that everyone is okay. Dr. B the medical doctor is the best doctor I have ever met in my life. I looked forward to seeing her every week! If you have the opportunity to go to this specific cfd location I 100% recommend it! It is honestly life changing.

This is my second time coming to CFD Congress Location, I had left AMA the first time and it was the WORST decision of my life. I relapsed almost immediately but this made me realize that unlike other treatment programs, this program works HARD to heal deeper psychological situations contributing to your eating disorder. From every counselor (Allyson, Katie, Rosa, Jordan, Kim, Tasha, etc) , nurse (Aiasha, Dorcas, Debbie, Tiana, Shantel, etc.) therapist (Angela, Saer, Melissa, Lauren) to dietician (Simone) they work to know every aspect of your person in order to appropriately treat you. The work toward recovery is long, difficult, and emotionally exhausting but the staff AND program director (Samantha) are there for you in the wink of an eye. There is a camaraderie between the patients and staff that is not present in ANY other program; where they just check a list for recovery as if it is an equation. Staff works with insurance to make sure you have adequate enough time to truly heal and recover physically and mentally. When the world feels unsafe, this house is a safe haven for those with eating disorders and trauma. This program also prepares you to continue your recovery in the outside world where you may be surrounded by a toxic culture or environment. True recovery and freedom from your eating disorder begins at CFD Congress location.
