My father had surgery there last week. I came in from out of state and was extremely impressed with the experience. From the surgeon moving things up to get his surgery done ASAP to the care he received after surgery. I want to thank Amie, RN on the 6th floor for staying over after her shift to allow my father to have a familiar face as he had some issues after surgery and had to have more tests and be moved to the ICU. Also, Brandy and Bri, RNs in the ICU for listening and taking his situation serious and advocating along with me when he needed an additionalprocedure. He even had a nurse Julie from the 5th floor the week before who stopped in to see him in ICU. We were not expecting any setbacks but you never know what to expect with surgeries. I am very thankful for all the wonderful workers who provided excellent care to my father. Bless you all. I will not forget you.

I wanted to thank all the Dr's, nurses, and techs from the 5th floor. The Dr's from the ER ( with the exception of 1 dr from there that refused to listen to me. ) Everyone was just so understanding, helped me get myself better, ( as long as I stay away from spicy foods aka Taco Pizza! ) those that helped me get admitted Thursday will know what i mean. They all were the kindest, best bedside manner and helpful that I could ever ask for. If I could remember all of your names I most definitely would put your names down. Thank you again for helping me and understanding.

This is simply for Zach(Zack?), the guy at front desk who took my call. I honestly was terrified to make this call, and after maybe 5-10 minutes with him on the phone, I was assured I was doing the right thing. I struggle with severe OCD and intrusive thoughts. My very caring psychiatrist, Angela Soder, is right by my side and helps me fight my battle with OCD day in and day out. I'd be so lost without her. Without her, I sometimes wonder if I would of given up and lost my battle some time ago. I like how she NEVER suggests the ER for my unless of course, I was serious with a plan and/or intent to hurt myself or others, which so far hasn't happened yet. Instead, she schedules me in for an appointment so we can talk about it. Any other psych provider I talk to doesn't even attempt to help me. They just say something along the lines of "You need to go to the ER and probably be admitted" how is locking me up with my thoughts supposed to help? She understands my thoughts are just thoughts and I just need someone to talk to when I feel a certain way. She understands that admitting me into the hospital isn't the answer, and will only make me feel worse. Anyway, I give Angela Soder 5 stars! She is awesome! Again, I'd be so lost without her! Brittany and Brandy at this office are also amazing! They're supportive and also don't suggest the ER when I call and talk to them.

From the moment I walked through the doors for intake, I felt a genuine sense of care and commitment to my recovery. Every step of the journey—from detox to housing, daily activities, and therapy—was thoughtfully designed and supported by a team of truly engaged and compassionate individuals. The staff at Recovery Institute of Ohio didn’t just do their jobs—they invested in my success. Their dedication, encouragement, and willingness to walk alongside me through the laughs, the tears, and the hard moments made all the difference. I also found something I didn’t expect: fellowship. The connections built within the program and the immersion into the Sandusky sober community gave me a sense of belonging and hope. Another unexpected but life-changing part of the process was learning how to have fun while sober—through group outings, activities, and shared experiences that reminded me life can be joyful without substances. I was so deeply impacted that I made the decision to move to Sandusky permanently—to stay close to the recovery community and maintain the connection with the RIO staff who helped change my life. This place isn’t just about getting clean; it’s about building a life rooted in love, accountability, and long-term recovery. I’m forever grateful to RIO for their passion, their belief in me, and the foundation they helped me build for lasting sobriety.
