Findlay Recovery Center is truly life-changing. The facility is clean, welcoming, and filled with people who genuinely care.
My case manager Kalee was my light during one of the darkest times in my life — always bright, encouraging, and reminding me there was hope when I couldn’t see it. My therapist Megan always knew just what to say and never made me feel like a burden. She helped me start to appreciate myself again.
Kody made learning both fun and informative (we both have lots of useless knowledge bouncing around in our heads, and somehow it worked!). Devon made sure everyone felt seen, validated, and—let’s be honest—kept us from getting too squirrely!
Vickey, my favorite driver and tech, was the first to rescue me from the darkness and help me find my light. Always smiling, always uplifting.
And thank you to Mike, who runs this incredible place—you can tell he takes pride in it because the staff are happy and it shows.
Oh, and Elliott—never a dull moment (in the best way)!
The Brownies were amazing, and so was everything else. If you’re looking for a place that truly cares, this is it.

If I could leave 0 stars I would. These people don’t care at all, this job is just a paycheck for them. Telegraphy appointments are never on time. Either an hour early, an hour late, or not at all, leaving you without medication. Management never seems to reprimand these doctorate and nurse practitioners for being so unprofessional. There’s nothing I can say that everyone else hasn’t already. Staff constantly on their phones not caring about the patients, making fun of them, one staff member was telling people we were all living in a simulation and we weren’t real. The place smelled terrible and made me gag. I couldn’t get any sleep at all, the nurses would check on us at night and stand in the door way and talk in the middle of the night. No communication whatsoever between staff. I had to communicate literally everything over and over again. They kept all my medication I went in with and then sent me home with the same medication and wrong dosages. For example on medication I’m meant to take is supposed to me 100mg. They gave me a bottle of 25mg with the instructions to take one before bed time when through that isn’t my dosage. This was my first experience in a place like this and I was really hoping it would be beneficial but no. They woke us up just to have us sit in front of a tv all day. The groups they did have was just us playing a video game and painting and a piece of paper. No discussions were had ever. This was very disappointing and honestly I don’t understand how this place is even open.

A truly horrible place where you will be made to feel less than human. The staff didn't care at all about patients they were clearly just concerned with potential liability issues and not the treatment of their patients. Technicians were almost always on the phone speaking to people in other languages (even while doing night checks). So you would be trying your hardest to sleep and they would come in every 15 minutes jabbering and loudly close the door on their way out. The vast majority of them showed no interest in conversing with patients or doing anything to attend to their emotional and mental needs.I kept thinking that I felt like human cattle. Kept alive for pure profit.
When I arrived at the facility I was dropped off by ambulance. The ems workers seemed concerned and caring. They were sure to make an effort to talk to me and said they'd make sure I was fed because I hadn't eaten anything since I went to the hospital the previous day. They were the last workers I would I would talk to who seemed compassionate.
They left me in a small room with a little brown plastic chair, table and box of tissues. I was in a major deppressive state and sat quietly, alone in my thoughts, for some time waiting for anyone to talk to me. Apparently everyone arrived like this and was left to their own devices for awhile because someone else wandered into my little waiting room (later we patients referred to it as an interrogation room because you were alone in there for so long it felt like you were about to be investigated or something) asking if I had seen their purse or shoes. I assured them that the hospital probably had them somewhere and they would get them back and then they wandered back off. I was glad they seemed harmless and wondered how that would have went if they had been agressive. I could hear another patient who was clearly distressed in the hallway calling out and saying they didn't want to be there. The only thing supervising us was a camera in the corner. No one came to see me for quite some time, I could not tell you how long because there is a scarcity of clocks in that place. I would soon find out that the only one was in the cafeteria and a little cable box under the tv in the activity room. Finally someone found the time to see me to my unit after providing me with some cold eggs, sausage and plastic little boxes of cereal.
I was lead through a strange almost maze like series of hallways and locked doors until I arrived at my unit where I would spend the next week of my life. We only ever left it to eat in the cafeteria three times a day. We were given a smoke break after each meal. They did allow you to go outside with the smokers even if you didn't smoke.
I do not smoke cigarettes but I do vape. I was never told about or offered any other available options like patches or gum by staff but I later found out they were available because they gave them to an 18 year old, so I smoked cigarettes. Not really sure how ethical that is. I wasn't aware you could give any type of nicotine product to someone who wasn't 21 and I really hate cigarettes. Why would they give us a cigarette one could easily use to burn themselves or others but not a vape which has been proven to be marginally more safe than cigarettes?
Technicians paid so little attention to us that said 18 year old was able to sneak smoking other's cigarettes right in their line of sight without them noticing because they were so engrossed in their mobile device.
The only therapist who did actual talk therapy groups was militant and would frequently expell people from group for not adhering to her expectations saying "You can leave" repeatedly. She seemed to care more about control and authority then she did about being a calm and rational voice. When someone is in a deep psychosis, depression or other mental impairment they are often not receptive to commands and orders. They often can't sit still or focus on anything for long. I have a lot more details than will fit in this review if anyone is interested please contact me.

Making the choice to call the Aster Springs Ohio admissions team, do an assessment, and accept their recommendation was not easy. I was scared and thought there was no hope. My wonderful admissions resource, Renessa, was so helpful in guiding me every step of the way by answering all my questions, challenging my ED’s fears about treatment, and encouraging me. I would not have been able to make this choice without her advocacy and support. When you walk through the doors, you are met with some of the kindest people you will ever come across in this field, and sometimes they even come out to the parking lot to help you not have to walk through the doors alone. They all genuinely care about this work and will do everything they can to help you on your journey. The staff is phenomenal from maintenance, RCS’s, Nurses, the Clinical staff and Dietitians to Leadership. While in treatment, you build great rapport with your treatment team, especially the more honest you are with them, but you also connect so much with all the staff in the building. To work at Aster Springs Ohio is to care about the patients by challenging the eating disorders and supporting the person every step of the way. They truly all care so much and all have their own reasons for being in this work. I absolutely gained my life back by choosing to come to Aster Springs Ohio, and I would make the same choice every time. The work of fighting your eating disorder and choosing recovery continues when you walk out of the doors, but you move forward with all the skills, tools, and support learned during your stay in addition to joining the alumni community. If you are struggling, reach out and share your concerns with the admissions staff. I know it made all the difference for me in being able to take steps towards choosing recovery consistently. If you are at Aster Springs, you will not have to struggle with anything alone. Instead of fighting your eating disorder in isolation and secrets, you will be met with a safe space for honesty, support, and healing.

I struggle with severe OCD and intrusive thoughts. My very caring psychiatrist, Angela Soder, is right by my side and helps me fight my battle with OCD day in and day out. I'd be so lost without her. Without her, I sometimes wonder if I would of given up and lost my battle some time ago. I like how she NEVER suggests the ER for my unless of course, I was serious with a plan and/or intent to hurt myself or others, which so far hasn't happened yet. Instead, she schedules me in for an appointment so we can talk about it. Any other psych provider I talk to doesn't even attempt to help me. They just say something along the lines of "You need to go to the ER and probably be admitted" how is locking me up with my thoughts supposed to help? She understands my thoughts are just thoughts and I just need someone to talk to when I feel a certain way. She understands that admitting me into the hospital isn't the answer, and will only make me feel worse. Anyway, I give Angela Soder 5 stars! She is awesome! Again, I'd be so lost without her! Brittany and Brandy at this office are also amazing! They're supportive and also don't suggest the ER when I call and talk to them.

I have been with Compdrug since February 2021 and they have been great! My first 4 months I struggled to get clean until we found the correct milligram of methadone. Since then things have only gotten better in my life. Compdrug is really understanding and compassionate. They also helped me in the beginning with getting me into a sober living house as well as with clothing and shoes for myself and for employment. Compdrug has literally been the cornerstone of my recovery. So if U are serious about getting clean and U are hesitant because it can be scary just try Compdrug. U can go get dosed everyday and work ur way up. And in the event that the methadone is not enough at first DON’T GIVE UP! Keep gettin up everyday and going to get ur dose. Compensate with what u need to but I am telling U that there will be a day when U get ur dose up, a beautiful, magical day when holy crap U won’t need to use again!!! That’s how it was for me anyway. I wish the best to all of U and my heart goes out to the addicts still out there😢🫶
