My experience with years at North Community Counseling was wonderful 😇 From the years I was there, I had various counselors & doctors. That was to be expected due to the type of organization funding NCCC receives. I’m beyond grateful for the people I worked with, that helped bridge my way to who I am today 💓 They opened me up to advocating for mental health while there. They even had my picture on the wall!! This isn’t a list of all the names, I know I’m missing at least one—but Yolanda, Lisa, Paige and quite a few others were instrumental in changing not just me/my mental health but my life. I had quite a few rocky bumps in the road during my (about) 10 years of experience with them, but so glad I was a patient here. Without them, I wouldn’t be where I am today. That no lie!! They brought me back to my childhood like innocence. So much so, that I’m back to finger-painting (see pic)

I was so Blessed to have gone through Freedom Recovery IOP, this program played an important role and I believe help save my life. The Counselors at Freedom helped me restore in my recovery confidence in God, myself, and others. I still remember early in my recovery when I was so broken and having zero confidence in myself and that there was no way I could beat my addiction. My three Counselors showed so much Love, respect, and care to each person in the group but at the same time made us dig deep, evaluated progress/failures and helped us identify goals in our lives. After many years of alcohol abuse my life had become unmanageable and my spirit and thought processes were extremely out of wack and at first everything they ask us to do seemed so foreign and made absolutely no sense to me but slowly day by day things started to make sense, I am a true believer in Freedom and the process that they use to help you, help yourself, yes you have to do a lot of uncomfortable work but for me it was one of the most rewarding times in my life. I will never forget my Counselors and how they helped me change my life and I am so Blessed that God has put people like you in my path, the Counselors at Freedom were such a inspiration for me and I will take what Freedom Recovery has given me and share with others and pay it forward that the cycle of addiction can be beat and that there is Hope.

Been going for a few months now, LOVE my therapist, felt a bond right off. Psychiatrist, Angel, I was iffy with but I felt in our 1 visit, I could bond with her. Next she’s gone and in comes Mercedes. Right off the bat, I felt judged, unhinged and just overall bad mojo in general. I gave her one more try, it didn’t change.. I then just cancelled all appointments and told my therapist. I’ve learned last week she is no longer there, others are filling in. May give it another try as I just don’t have 100% faith in my PCP with mental health medications.

So this was my very first mental hospital stay, was in a total of 6 1/2 days, got out two days ago, so I'm probably pretty biased with my review but I will just say as some who is extremely mentally ill and had a psychotic break a few weeks ago, the structure and strictness to a degree was very helpful to me in my fragile mental state, and the consistent meals, very good food actually. It's a pain in the ass for some of the other patients which I totally get. For me personally other than expected craziness from other patients, I personally really enjoyed my stay other than you know, being there. I will say yes they are strict they do not let you have a cigarette break just when ever you want and in fact it is not called that it's an outside break so there's no guarantee on cigarettes. You can't use your phone and TV's and shows are decided by the staff, so make sure if you can help yourself get all your ducks in a row like pet sitting and stuff like that, you can't worry about outside shit while you're in there or you'll be stuck in there longer than you'd hope. Just speaking from my own personal experience the staff were very nice and helpful. Yes there's a few hiccups with other staff members here and there but given the environment I do not blame them they are human too just like us. My only complaint is that I was so desperate to get out of there because of another patient I had missed my prescription and then the doctors also forgot to fill the prescription and right now I'm kind of going through a telephone game of trying to get it filled. Hopefully today I can get my meds filled but other than that this place set me straight lol! It is not prison but it's strict and structured. Genuinely changed my life for the better, just my experience 🙂

I'm not lying when I say that this is the best mental health facility I've ever been to. I used to live in Pennsylvania & let's just say they're at least 20 years behind where they should be when it comes to their mental health resources. Ohio takes mental health a lot more seriously than PA. It's less taboo here & they truly want to help. I was pink slipped from the E.R., so I didn't necessarily have a choice to be admitted. However, the staff was SO kind. They were super helpful to me. If you choose to advocate for yourself & accept the help rather than fight it, things will go really well for you. The food there was wonderful. They provided breakfast, lunch, & dinner. Plus, they provided snacks in between meals, such as sandwiches, Goldfish, those cinnamon Scooby Snacks, chips, Lorna Doone cookies, etc. There were about seven smoke breaks a day, if you brought your own smokes or had a visitor bring some for ya. You could put an order in for nicotine gum & they would provide your medications you'd regularly take in daily life. The doctor I saw there was amazing. I actually transferred my psychiatric services to him. Shout out to Dr. Troy with Bright Life Behavioral Health! I also wanted to shout out the names of staff that I can remember, because they were all just so wonderful. I cannot remember everyone though & I apologize if the names aren't spelled correctly: Sigh, Lauren, Abu, Penny, Ben, Uniqua, Shannon, Taiza, Mary Claire, Craig (kitchen), Brittany, Alexis, etc. Just so many wonderful people work there & made my experience awesome. Plus, I met some other patients who I would consider friends now & we text every so often. I struggle with Major Depressive Disorder (amongst other things) & had a bad manic episode that got me admitted. I truly needed this stay to get the help I needed to finally take control of my mental health, so thank you, thank you, thank you to Columbus Springs. It was life changing in a very positive way.

I've been coming here for about 1/2 of a year. It's a great experience because the staff is friendly and they are always on time with their appointments. I've received wonderful advice that has helped me with some internal struggles and I'm all the better for it! Thank you NCMHS.

When I was attending, while it took time to get you set up with a counselor and or medication if it is needed, this place genuinely cares about the mental wellbeing of their customers. They want to help and were very friendly and supportive.
