I’ve never felt I could actually be myself and open up to a doctor like I have her. I’ve had a lot of bad experiences with doctors in the past, but I have absolutely nothing bad to say about Shawnee family health. They are all very friendly and I just love my doctor so much she’s the best. She truly cares about her patience all these other negative comments on here. I don’t see that there I’ve seen it many other places, but not here so don’t listen to the negative negative comments if you wanna know, go in person and make your own opinion and I about guarantee it’ll be a good one. I feel the people leaving bad reviews are just doing so because they didn’t get the medication they wanted or something. I’ve never had any kind of issues with them whatsoever and I drive a very far distance just to see Dr. Katz because I love her so much and I know I’m not gonna find another psychiatrist that I feel that comfortable with so thank you Dr. Katz for being a wonderful doctor a caring doctor and so real and down to earth and thank you for caring about me. As a long term patient there, I know most of the staff by name. I have a lot of love and respect for the staff especially my doctor Deborah Katz, they treat you like family. They care about your health and wellbeing. The negative comments on here are just Karen’s and Kevin’s complaining because they have nothing else to do with their lives. I am forever grateful to everyone in this organization. Lori Wise 2 months ago Update: Over 2 years sober. I also went through a very high risk period for relapse over the past month. For whatever reason cravings and temptations came back, but I used what I learned at the Ridge and am still sober and so thankful. Definitely recommend. This is the best thing you will ever do for yourself. Update: 526 days sober and going strong. I have definitely had cravings and vulnerable points, but have managed to stay sober thanks in large part to the ridge. I'm at 8 months sober today and can say that the things I learned at the Ridge still help me every day- literally. I am still in the aftercare program and getting a lot out of it. If you need help this is a great place to build a foundation for sobriety (and abstinence from other drugs as well). Summary: The Ridge is an excellent comprehensive treatment program for alcohol use disorder (and others). I personally had an exceptional experience with the residential treatment program, intensive outpatient therapy, and aftercare. Nothing about this experience was easy but I am confident that due to my experience with The Ridge I have a solid recovery foundation (I am just over 4 months sober currently). This review focuses on residential care Highlights -well developed program that is evidence based -full days -attendance at local 12 step meetings -access to a wide variety of recreational activities and art and music therapy classes -I felt prepared when I left and have continued to feel that way (it has been difficult but I have the tools) -staff are compassionate and helpful; many are in recovery themselves - peer support - comfortable accomodations and excellent food My advice if you are going to a program like The Ridge (these things helped me to have continued success today) -follow the rules, yes they may seem silly -do awkward things they ask like getting a temporary sponsor and numbers at meetings -listen to their advice, they may says things that sound stupid,my experience is that the things I think sound stupid end up being the pertinent ones -try to relax into the time; enjoy not having to do a ton of chores, cook for yourself etc -take the time to build a new hobby I electected to go to The Ridge when I came to terms with the fact that I have an alcohol use disorder. I was receiving psychiatric care and my provider gently led me to acknowledge this. Two providers independently recommended The Ridge when I expressed interest in treatment. Residential I initially signed up for the 30 day program but decided to stay longer as I was getting a lot out of the program and am really happy that I did. Residential days are very full. The beginning of the day is filled with groups. The afternoon has time for recreational activities (no naps). A lot of people take up pickleball during this time but there is also the option to go to the pool (when open), do art, write, etc. Evenings there are 12 step meetings in the community. Accomodations I stayed in a private room which I would say was Marrott quality. Cleaning services are provided. You are expected to make your bed (a pretty minor thing). The meals are excellent and snacks are freely available. The culinary staff are great- very personable and great educators. It was sufficiently comfortable and quiet enough to get quality sleep. Nursing Nursing staff were generally available and very helpful. Medication time windows could be a bit tight but were feasible. Recovery support specialist staff Recovery support specialists helped with sessions, daily questions, and herding everyone, They all have different personalities but in general were very easy to get along with. They introduced me to narcotics anonymous which is a program. I never had tried before and just recently got two years clean. They sent me up for the beginning to stay clean. It is the only place I’ve ever seen where when you get to go to meetings you’ll see the staff there and they treat you like family not a number. I also used to work for the same program, which is ARIA and both experiences were phenomenal. I highly recommend this if you want to change your life it changed mine. The nurse practitioner I was assigned to immediately began chastising and berating me for not electing to do radiation therapy. This was in the first 30 seconds of my appointment. She then began to describe in vivid detail how my cancer will spread across my face if I don't do radiation therapy. I am beyond appalled that a so called medical professional would stoop to using scare tactics and personal intimadation to pressure me to take a treatment plan I have already told 4 doctors I don't want to go down that path. I have so many wonderful things to say about them, but if I wrote all of them this review would be a novel - so I’ll stick to the highlights. In our time together, I have felt genuinely seen as a client and not just a number. When times got tough, Keight was always there to help me through them, even when it meant a little tough therapist love and making me work through the things I didn’t want to touch with a 10ft pole. I feel as though I have been given the tools I was lacking to cultivate a healthy and beautiful life for myself and without their guidance and support over some of the hardest times in my life, I’m truly not sure where I would be today. Their compassion and professionalism is something many people lack in this world and if everyone had just an ounce of theirs, this world would be a far better place.
