They have ALL the leverage, we have none. That being said, I would suggest getting down on your knees and thanking God that you have the option here in NC of Discovery House. I love this VA from my PCP Samantha Jo Carlantonio and her team, to my Psychiatrist Dr. Garibo to Ms Terry (I have gained a best friend) at the whole health, to my eyes care team Dr Dohoda (what a brilliant mind) and Ms Emily (she is the BEST) and the rest of the team. To the two doctors I’ve seen in orthopedic, to the new podiatrist… what an amazing Dr., to the physical therapy team where I’ve been seen countless of times, how wonderful they all are. Also my Dentist Dr. Cagni (how amazingly caring is she) and her team. To the urgent care team what a magnificent staff, the expedited treatment, the in and out it’s just evidence of caring of people. To the laboratory team wonderful professional and efficient “vampires”. To all the receptionist, the front and the individual one in the different areas they are amazingly friendly and caring. To the cleaning personnel, a team that I don’t see much but their presence is felt throughout the facility, how clean they keep the place. To the records team, they are all so polite and efficient. To the pharmacy team, and the friendly smile of the gentleman dispensing medication. To the security team and the volunteers that greet me as I walk in. I feel very blessed to be taken cared of these professionals. This facility is easy to walk through and the elevators are very nice. I also would like to mention that there is always parking space, and during winter, snow is removed for parking space. Now the teams that need lots of improvement are Community Care, which it does not feel that they care at all. I’ve walked in that office twice in 3 years and I was treated as if I was bothering and interrupting when there was no one there. They are not any better over the phone, a a minimum they need a class on how to be professional, no one can’t teach CARE. Another place that needs a LOT to improve is the Social Work services, the times I have been referred to them, I get incomplete information where they tell me where to research instead of them doing the research or they send me information useless information of horses instead of service dog information. They also have not been good to talk to over the phone. The travel Voucher gentleman is not user friendly and the Little cafeteria does not allow Service Dogs, shame and you would have to walk through there to get to the little exchange, which I have not visited since I certified my service dog. I thank all for the LOVE and CARE I receive in this facility and to the ones that need to improve … well… get to it, you are ruining the atmosphere and vibe. I started at the New Castle Location when it was The Discovery House and then transferred to the Cranberry location when I moved, and then ended here at the Farrell location when I moved again back to Ohio. They accepted Ohio medicaid and I really didn't want to change clinics, so I stayed with Discovery House/Comprehensive Treatment Center. Each location was fantastic. By far my favorite clinics. Counselors and staff were 100% amazing and super caring, considerate and most importantly understanding and non judgemental. I really recommend this place. It is great this place is open on cold nights all night after 9pm and through much of the day. There are snacks and coffee and a place to stay. She has been such a great influence on my life. She has always been there to help and encourage me to succeed but never ever have I felt judged by her for my previous mistakes. I’ve seen some people get mad and say horrible things about her because they lost their privileges, only to later come and tell her thank you for holding them accountable and helping them to really get back on track. When you’re an addict you place blame on others so much because it’s the only way you can live with yourself, but then you come to realize that it’s us who did wrong, they realized Erin didn’t take their privileges they took them from themselves, and the same people have come around and told me she saved their lives as well. She is an incredible nurse. She cares so much and sets an excellent example. I hope that Foundations realize just how blessed they are to have someone like her. She’s a treasure and a beautiful soul. One reason I’ve been clean for so long is I couldn’t stand to let her down. When I say she’s saved my life I mean it. Cherish her. These people have helped save my life and I have many years clean and sober because of their help. People have preconceived notions and judgments about medication assisted recovery but you don’t know how it really is. These people care. They don’t want you stuck there. They saved my life over and over and I will forever be grateful. I’m going on 19 years clean because of their help and services. If you or a loved one needs help, there’s no better help out there than foundations. ADDED…. I was reading the other reviews and I’d love to address the one who says the nurses are horrible human beings. ABSOLUTELY NOT. When you don’t follow the rules that are out there for your safety you lose privileges. The nurses are not being mean by having to tell you that you failed a drug test or you didn’t show up to group so you can’t have the same privileges as those who do what’s right.. YOU DID THAT TO YOURSELF. And then he stated someone should burn it down!? If anyone did something so heinous because they can’t comply.. you’d be totally destroying so many peoples future. Not only would you take innocent peoples jobs but you’d crush single moms in recovery and other people trying to make it! How incredibly horrible! If anyone out there wants to get their lives back these people will bend over backwards to help you. Please don’t be turned off by a rant from someone who destroyed his own experience by not doing what’s right. Part of recovery is taking responsibility for your mistakes. No one can ruin your recovery but you. Foundations is amazing and they care. Especially the AMAZING NURSES! I want to add about my counselor Sydney. I have never in my life felt more advocated for. She is absolutely amazing. The people here truly care and want to see people get better. The only people who have problems are the ones who are completely out of line and disrespectful. They’re mad because they don’t get privileges but they forget they are the ones who ruin it for themselves. The nurses didn’t make you give a positive urinalysis. You did that. I have maintained my privileges for over a decade by simply allowing myself to live a normal life. And I wouldn’t have this chance if it wasn’t for the help of these great people. Thank you foundation’s staff for helping to save my life. My son who I got clean for in the first place is now on his way to becoming a state trooper. While I did have to go for a couple of minor things in the past 2+ years, the appointment scheduling process was easy and efficient... I came to highland house not knowing what to expect, because it was a new area that I have never been to. This place has slot of things to offer but most importantly they give you multiple opportunity at different resources and my advice to anyone who may decide to go to this place is take advantage of every resource that you can it really is a stepping stone to changing your life around if I ever need to go back to a half way house I would most certainly choose highland house again the staff is amazing and went out of their way to accommodate any needs we may needed if they were able to.
