Orchard on the Brazos in Wallis, Texas is a luxury abstinence-based substance abuse treatment facility for adults. They offer inpatient detox, residential and outpatient treatment as well as aftercare for alumni. This facility accepts patients with a dual-diagnosis. Detox at the Orchard helps individuals not give up during this difficult first step
My wife and I are grateful for the program here at The Orchard on the Brazos. The team there has shown that a program uniquely designed to treat addiction while maintaining dignity is the best way to achieve and maintain sobriety. Additionally, their family programs are second to none. We attended a weekend event that was incredibly helpful to us. And, my wife and I have been attending their weekly family zoom meeting for 16 months. Not coincidentally, our loved one is 16 months sober. This meeting, run by Fallon has been instrumental in our own recovery. Fallon provides a very safe space to discuss various topics pertinent to family recover. We're very grateful for these meetings and plan to continue attending.

Unfortunately, we have had two experiences with the Orchard with two of our adult children. I wrote unfortunately, because no one should have to experience their children battling addiction. We had previous experience at another organization that was fruitless. This was a whole new version. The professionals at the Orchard care not only for the residents, but also provide forums for the family members as well. It is a welcoming caring environment, where family participation is encouraged, because we all need healing in some respects. For those who are just about at their wits end, there is hope. Let me also say this is not a miracle place, our kids have work that they need to do. As a Dad, I would encourage you to fully check out the facilities, programs and staff. We have been very blessed with our experiences.

The people at The Orchard truly care about their residents. They also care about the recovery of family members of the addict. If you or a loved one struggle with addiction I highly recommend The Orchard. It is very different than any other rehab facility I have come across and I am forever grateful that we found it!

Fulshear Treatment to Transition is a private rehab located in Needville, Texas. Fulshear Treatment to Transition specializes in the treatment of Mental Health.
Fulshear saved my life—twice. I first went to Fulshear in 2021 after moving to Texas. I gained the tools I needed to manage my mental health and really found healing there. One of the most impactful parts of my experience was equine therapy. I was a barn manager and caring for the horses gave me a deep sense of purpose. I also made connections that I still carry with me today. In 2024, I returned to Fulshear when I was struggling with substance use. I knew it was the place I needed to go, and once again, it changed my life. My therapist, Courtney Deadman, is the best therapist I have ever worked with. She’s inclusive, compassionate, and truly gifted at what she does. The family work we did together completely transformed my relationship with my parents—I’ve never communicated with them so well. Courtney held my light when I couldn’t, and now I can hold it proudly on my own. The rest of the clinical team—especially Micah and Injila—also made a huge impact. They led powerful groups and always made me feel seen and supported. The entire staff is truly exceptional. I also want to shout out the admissions team—Helaine is my hero. She supported me with so much care and compassion, and even checked in on me after I left treatment. She and her daughter Della are an amazing team and two of the most genuine, kindhearted people I’ve ever met. I’m beyond grateful for them. If you’re looking for a place that can truly help you heal, grow, and take back your life, I cannot recommend OPI Houston enough!!! Best of luck on your journey!

I came into the ranch broken lost and hurting. I had a lot of trauma from my childhood and my young adulthood that I never processed. As a result I was struggling with addiction, depression anxiety, you name it. Before the ranch I was use to abusive relationships, codependency, homelessness and isolation. I spent 3 months on the ranch and completely transformed my life. It was a lot of hard work. And I honestly wanted to change my life. I knew I was not living the life I was meant to live. I have nothing but good things to say about Fulshear. The staff is amazing and I believe in the program. Since Fulshear I am now 10 months sober. I live in a safe home and I'm able to have healthy relationships. I am back to working and even won employee of the month. I still continue with working with a therapist, which I will probably always continue to do in my life. It's a life long journey. But I was able to start and gain tools to start my healing and new life. I even found good friends at treatment that I still stay in touch with and we continue to love and support each other to this day. Fulshear will always hold a special place in my heart.

I had a deeply traumatic experience under the care of Gus Zamora delivering my firstborn at Detar. I was induced against my will @41 weeks pregnant. I was begging and crying for him to not induce me because I was praying for a natural birth, but he grabbed me by the shoulders and told me if I didn’t sign the papers and get induced right then (Friday) that he was going to cut me open on Monday. (Mind you I was perfectly healthy, baby perfectly healthy. The ONLY REASON for inducing me was “this is routine for us” and “you’re just going to be happy to have your baby”) I wish I would have walked out. I was scared that he was going to cut me open out of spite for not wanting to be induced the day he wanted me to be. I have had PTSD ever since. I feel humiliated, violated, betrayed, disrespected, and disregarded. Among other things- the nurses rolling their eyes at me for begging to not get induced, the nurses threatening to get the vacuum if I didn’t push on their count downs, them forcing me to labor on my back while I’m begging to labor on my side, the anesthesiologist giving me 3 epidural attempts and leaving me with lasting lower back spasms. That was 9 months ago- I have had multiple panic attacks every single day since, lasting hours at a time each. I feel like my mind and body are ruined. During my pregnancy, he also failed to administer the RH shot, not realizing until after I had delivered my baby, seeing that baby’s blood is RH positive and my blood is RH negative; I now need to consult another doctor to determine if this neglect has caused sensitization, potentially impacting my future pregnancies. (He informed me of this while I was freshly postpartum and left it at that.) Also, despite clearly outlining my preferences in my birth plan, including a refusal of pain medication unless specifically requested, I was administered narcotics without my consent. I had to ask the anesthesiologist what had been injected, only to learn it was fentanyl—something I explicitly wanted to avoid because I have close family who have died due to it. Evermore, this experience has left me with daily struggles of PTSD and significant emotional and physical trauma. The complete disregard for my autonomy, preferences, and well-being during such a critical and vulnerable time was unacceptable. I am sharing my experience here in hopes of preventing others from enduring similar harm.

My complaint is words & actions by the Dr, anesthesiologist, and nurses of my wife’s delivery. •Giving heavy consideration to the thought that the whole situation from the moment we walked in was like rounding up a cow into the chute… They get you there and don’t listen to MY WIFES birthing plan. Took papers and walked off with them, never to be seen again, when I showed to them upon entering her birthing room. (Still don’t have it. Our first born so we kept EVERYTHING!) •We wanted all natural but they refused to wait ANY LONGER (2 Hrs) and wanted to induce my wife. She cried and we pleaded and tried to be transparent…. BUT when a Dr says ,“ you can leave, but when you come back I WILL CUT YOU OPEN” that’s just cold, and plain immoral with some unprofessional wording. •Let’s move on. So due to what me and my wife take as a threat and scared we proceed for fear of not know where to go or turn. The SYSTEM failed us. Upon induction process the contracts got too intense for my wife, she had no epidural, being she was going about as naturally as possible. Well after HOURS my wife sad and quite frankly the hospital staff just being verbally abusive. (Belittling her birthing style) *She requested an epidural, well after 2 shot, AND 3 missed attempts they got it….. Her back hasn’t been the same since…. * •Now let’s get to delivery. My wife did an AMAZING THING and pushed our little girl out. I counted 5 pushes trying to do a breathing technique I had practiced with her… The nurse on the other hand screamed in my wife’s face “I’ll get the vacuum if you don’t push” on my wife’s 2-3 push…. BEYOND UNPROFESSIONAL •Let’s get to after birth. So.. Dr comes in and we are talking about how they forgot to administer a RH factor shot during our visits at the clinic. He says,”you may never be able to have children again” his famous last words as he walked out the room. No time for Q&A…. LEFT US DEPRESSED, SADDENED, ETC. We couldn’t even enjoy our family visiting us. We had false smiles. Just distraught with this information. I’ve personally as the husband had to seek outside help on this subject. SO I KNOW MY WIFE HURTS TO THIS DAY FROM THOSE WORDS… not to forget 2 epidural needles and 3 misses. •So then the 2nd anesthesiologist comes on shift. This is post birth. He comes in and my wife’s daze/asleep, me changing the baby. He administers a shot before we could stop him and ask “what is that?” Into my WIFES IV LINE!! We start to question him, and He starts blaming about the medicine. Then he said “Fentanyl”. My wife LOST IT. He tried to explain the difference but we were at the point of no more empathy for their IGNORANCE and lacking of professionalism. We demanded he leave but he kept persisting that it was different. All the while my wife is breaking down crying about the WHOLE birthing experience, possibly no kids, BACK HURTS, no unsolicited sedatives….. WOW I SAY, WOW! •Only dang thing the hospital had right was the birth dinner they offered. It ACTUALLY made my wife stop crying for 5 mins while eating but believe me it didn’t fix nothing. 9 months later and EVERYTHING STILL HURTS, and I feel as a husband is to say that what this asylum has done to us is ONLY HURT US! So to all the husbands that love their wives. I HEAVILY suggest you find a new institution that’s ran with some kind, loving, and compassion. Because DETAR NORTH IS A NIGHTMARE.

Instill updated them on my sister because I know they care for her. I never got to visit inside so no comment but i witnessed my sister get her own place, look healthier by the day and get employment. She a break and time to recover. Bay Area Women’s Recovery Center is straight-up the reason I’m alive today. This place didn’t just help me get clean — it rebuilt me. I walked in broken, lost, and tired. I walked out stronger, loved, supported, and finally believing in myself again. The staff here don’t just do their jobs — they pour their hearts into every woman who walks through the door. They gave me strength when I had none, love when I couldn’t love myself, and a community that still has my back long after treatment. I wasn't there for long, but I can see the good this place does for people. I left due to inner conflictions of faith, but that wouldn't be the case with the vast majority of people who come here. I would recommend to 99% of people who have addiction issues, as this place is a hidden haven for those who need it the most. I appreciated a lot of the staff. The fact that all of them used to go here at one point gives another element that adds to the success of this place. Appreciate the willingness to help and to accept anyone no matter who they are. Thank you, kindly.

I went through the Bay Area Recovery Center, and it completely changed my life. After getting a DUI, I was required to go through this program to keep my job — but it turned out to be the best thing that ever happened to me. I’ve now been clean and sober for almost 10 months. The staff truly care and helped me believe in myself again. A huge thank you to Mr. Billy and Blake and everyone there for guiding me through my recovery. My DUI was recently dismissed, and I believe it’s because God saw the change in me. My wife and kids thank you too — you didn’t just help me, you helped restore my family. If you’re struggling, I highly recommend this program. It gave me my life back. F. Riley

I want to share our experience at this facility because there are many negative reviews out there, and that can make parents afraid to send their children. But we actually had a good experience. Trust your own judgment and don’t let negative comments put your child’s physical and mental health at risk.

Firstly I will say that I am giving a 1 Star because I was treated HORRIBLY and really BADLY by both female Psychiatrist Asundra and Social Worker Edith who were both HIGHLY UNPROFESSIONAL. They both tormented me by gaslighting me and making me question my sanity. They both talked to me so aggressively I got headaches and had a bad migraine. I hope both of those ladies get fired. I had higher ups talk to me and said that they would investigate the problem. Well they said that they found no issues amongst how I was being treated. As polite as I was these ladies were ruthless and lying and tried to keep me here and treated me like a child. I would not recommend coming here if you do NOT have insurance. I had to complain and demand to go home sooner because they lied to my mom and tried to pin us against each other. These ladies played mind games trying to trigger me and purposely kept bringing up a sensitive topic such as sexual assault. I told these ladies my diagnosis and I did not have to take the disrespect. I believe what these ladies were doing to me was illegal. But obviously they did not care because they just want a government check. I have never in my life dealt with such unprofessionalism from a Social Worker in a Psychiatric facility as well as a rude and awful Psychiatrist that is supposed to help and be understanding. Not against a patient who was complying with treatment. The only thing good about this hospital were the occupational therapists that's it and the female Psychologist who was amazing and helped me.

It was weird. I learned about myself a little more in here. I got to interact with other people who had schizophrenia. I've been diagnosed with this myself and I don't really get to interact with others who have this issue. It was new to me. I enjoyed my stay though. I like to be social and got to talk to a lot of people. Doctor Kim was my doctor along with a few others. It was pretty impressive. The food was good too.

I can’t speak for all departments but so far I’ve had a good experience with the dental department and primary care. Dr Ali is outstanding and you can tell he actually cares about veterans. He made it a point to call me directly, outside of normal business hours to make sure I was okay after a series of events. Thankful that so far I have received good care.

VA 5-Star Rating I enrolled in Veterans’ Health Care after a somewhat stressful period in the civilian medical system. The VA Service has been nothing but outstanding. The level of professionalism, service, care and respect is incredible. Whether we’re talking about the Doctors, Associates, Nurses, Technicians or Administrative Staff, the dedication and commitment goes way beyond a “just a job” attitude, I am a cancer patient with a number of other health issues and I have nothing but gratitude and praise for everyone who has worked with me. That goes double for the Oncology and the Neurology Departments. Thank you VA.

I had a great experience with them. I had no idea who to turn to when DV happened to me and my daughter. We received counseling & while I was hoping for legal services as well the office is a little disorganized and never heard anything back after following up many times which is why I have 4 stars instead of 5. But if you’re someone in need they do their best to help you.

I went to alumni last week to get my 1 year sobriety coin and it was my first visit in about 6 months, and what a total disappointment this has become ! Only 2 people spoke the entire time, not even asking if anyone else would like to share, which I had planned on doing, and I'm not joking when I say that both of their speeches was reminiscing about how much fun they had when they were on drugs or alcohol. The meeting ran over by almost 30 minutes because both of them took so long, and to make it even worse, they didn't even have any 1 year sobriety coins !! Bring Priscilla back ! It was a wonderful recovery place when I attended, now it's a JOKE ! Waste of my time, never going back! I feel sorry for the inpatient people that were there because that alumni meeting did absolutely nothing to help them !

Texas Clinic offers outpatient treatment to help people with opioid use issues heal and regain control of their lives. They have two facilities in Houston, Texas. I've been a client at Texas Clinic for almost two years. While the majority of my experiences with the staff have been positive and helpful with my best interest as the focus of our attention, the morning of Oct. 17, 2025, unfortunately gave me a glimpse into the face of corruption and deciet that are at the heart of the worlds problem. Jose, is an employee at the clinic though his title or function is unknown, he facilitates the morning ritual of dosing by standing around keeping tabs on the routine, making sure things are conducted in occordance with policy and customs. On the morning I have mentioned, I was charging a power bank after I had dosed, minding my own business not bothering anyone except Jose. Not that I was doing anything to provoke or irritate him intentionally, however he came up to me and asked," how much longer do you have to charge your phone?" I looked at him and replied one more dot. Then I asked Why. He then replied that the big boss had told him to come tell me something. A blatent and deliberate lie, spoken out of fear that he may loose his false sense of control over the situation if he was honest and said that he personally had a problem with me being there doing what I was doing. At which time I confronted him and told him he was lieing, and that unless he could be honest with me not to speak to me at all. He then rushed outside to fetch his trusted security officer and hyped the situation up by stating another lie. He said I was refusing to leave. I laughed and informed the office that I had no problem going, my problem was with the fact that I had caught him lieing to benefit his desire. The officer told me that he represented the business and I had to listen to him. I then objected on the bases that dishonesty in business nullifys my obligations as well as any authority the lier may or may not have. I told Jose, as I was walking away not to speak with me if he couldn't help but lie. His reply was," I don't have to tell you the truth." Now that statement has me questioning everything I thought I felt about the clinic. My reasoning is that if the clinic allows a staff to tell a patient that and do nothing, what does that say for the management? So just know that if you are considering Tx Clinic, remember that Jose, is a control freak that is threatened by anyone that has the mind enough to challenge the narrative he makes up on the fly. I am waiting now to see if they will try to kick me out of the program for this post. If they do, I will surely let you know to keep those considering the program safe from future retaliation if any issues arise after your enrollment. I know of several others that Jose, has singled out and targeted for harassment. So just know that sometimes, often all the time, the people that work at these places often have issues that require the inner will to correct the error of their ways yet because they feel in authority, this change seldom arrives, and they compound the problem by mixing from one patient to another telling lie upon lie. Maybe 3I Atlas can help us all. I have included an image taken from the monitoring system on Mars as it traveled pass the planet. It is a most enlightened image, one no resistance can deny. Clearly the game has changed. Truth is both crucial and demanded from this day onward. Trust there are eyes and ears monitoring everything and just maybe we shall have to answer for simple deciet when spoken to benefit the one telling it. I wish you all success and the strength and dedication to change your life for the better.

The most amazing staff, people who care and doctors that care. My number one concern was the judgment being only 22…but there was no judgment from anyone, when I walked in they made me feel like family! This clinic genuinely just want to see you survive and give you tools to live a better life. I could not recommend this place more….its all government funded and if you can’t get it covered because you have insurance self pay is only 100$ a week. When other places wanted to charge me almost 600$ a week…these people save lives!

The dosing nurses Taylor, Olivia, Lexi & Ruth are all both professional & personable, kind & caring, nice & helpful too! Nancy the "Boss" who runs everything at the front desk has the nicest and most welcoming smile ever, not to mention the most genuine and thoughtful person, truly! And now my counselor , Mr. Richard, he keeps me in line & focused on my treatment plan, thank goodness because even though I'm scatterbrained he is on point! I can't forget to mention Jose, who really is awesome, just don't mess with him when he's drinking his coffee, lol, just kidding. But I'm serious about the entire crew or should I say family because that's what they've become to me, my Texas Clinic family! Thanks guys for all you do!

Monday morning, I had to go the the VA clinic in Tomball for blood work. For Thanksgiving week, it was busy. I got there early and was soon called back. The young black lady had her work cut out for her. They appeared to be very short staffed, but she was taking care of business. As soon as I walked through the door she handed me a cup and directed me to the bathroom. She had at least two, maybe three or more others already waiting to have their blood work done. She was going from partition to partition getting people help. I was in and out of there in minutes. She was also in a very good mood. It could have been overwhelming, but she didn't seem to mind. I admire the work ethic and the ability to work under tremendous pressure. I hope that she knows that she is appreciated. I tried to let her know. We need more people like her. True warrior.

I know not everyone’s experience is the same. But I am grateful for mine. As a disabled US Army Veteran, I can honestly say that the staff at the Tomball VA CBOC have treated me with the highest level of care and compassion. Every single person I have encountered, whether it’s the front desk, the nurses, doctors, therapists, orthopedics team, optometrists, phlebotomists, or the suicide prevention team, has served me incredibly. Yes, I share that last team openly, because it saved my life. The Suicide Prevention team at Tomball is available Monday through Friday, 8am–5pm. You can walk into the Tomball VA CBOC and they will listen, not just to reply, but to truly understand. They provide care, aftercare, follow-up, and most importantly, they treat you like a human being, with dignity, respect, and compassion. I cannot thank them enough for what they have done for me. Between them and the CAMS Team in Houston, they saved my life. And if you’re a veteran or loved one reading this and you find yourself in a mental health crisis, please don’t wait, Dial 988 and Press 1. That’s the Veteran Crisis Hotline, and someone will be there to answer right away. The Tomball VA CBOC has been a blessing in my journey, and I am proud to say so. —Ted B US Army Disabled Veteran
