They made me feel like more than just a number here. Paula Slattman 1 month ago I wanted to take a few minutes to write a review about an experience I had at the Victoria VA Clinic. I have been going to the Victoria clinic for at least 20 years even though I have my own personal insurance. Currently I am on Medicare and I have a Blue Cross supplemental. Now after the following experience I will always use the VA as my Primary medical. About a month ago I was at a dance competition with my wife and I started having episodes of blurry vision in my left eye. I had a routine appointment with the clinic for an eye exam the Monday after this experience. This eye exam is something new that I have never been called to have done. I think it was just a new thing that the VA was just starting to offer Veterans. Anyway I went in for that exam and they took a bunch of pictures of both eyes. The next morning I got a call from my VA Dr that apparently reviewed the photos and he was very concerned that I had a blood clot in my left eye. He said he was immeidetly going to set up an appointment with an eye specialist in Victoria. A few days later I saw the eye Dr and he did not see any clot so he summerized that I was throwing random clots and suggested I see my cardiologist for a possible carotid artery issue. I went the next day to my heart Dr and they did an ultrasound and discovered I had at least a 95% blockage. They sent me directly to a vascular surgeon in San Antonio who at once set up a brain angiogram the same week on Thursday and determined it to be a 99% blockage on the left side and 75 on the right. The next morning the vascular surgeon did the surgery on the left side and I am currently recovering with a 100% success. Because of my VA Clinic Dr being very professional and diligent and taking immediate action he likely saved my life or at the very least eliminated the great possibility of a massive stroke. I am so grateful for our local VA Clinic and all of the professional staff that assisted me thru this life changing experience. It seems the VA gets a lot of negative feedback and unwarranted comments from a lot of people but my experience with the VA for the last 20 years has been execellent. Thank you and Bravo to the Victoria VA clinic and especially to the amazing Dr that caught this problem and took immediate action. I am forever grateful. Firstly, I was allowed to bring my fur baby with me which was a wonderful comfort to me. I don’t think I would have done as well without having her with me. The facilities are clean and well-kempt. The staff is caring, understanding, and genuinely invested in your unique recovery journey (Jacob and Sunny are phenomenal). The therapists authentically understand the journey to recovery and ensure everyone feels respected and heard. While your recovery is taken seriously and put in the work, they make the process fun and relatable. The physician and nursing staff is thorough and available 24/7 - they care about each patient and their bedside manner is impeccable. They are NOT autonomous robots like you see with a lot of other medical facilities. Nursing even does occasional group sessions on the medical aspects of recovery, post-recovery preventative care. You are even sent home with a supply of medications to help bridge the gap between discharge and your own provider. And the food… where do I start? I have travelled all over the country for work, eating at high end hotels and restaurants yet the thrice daily meal here far exceeded in quality and variety. The thrice daily, freshly cooked international cuisines were amazing! They also have juices, sodas, flavored water, coffee, teas, high end snacks, and even ice cream available 24/7. They have working washers and dryers and even provide Tide pods and dryer sheets. The outside grounds are peaceful and the outside activities during and after group sessions are relaxing. I wanted to take a few minutes to write a review about an experience I had at the Victoria VA Clinic. I have been going to the Victoria clinic for at least 20 years even though I have my own personal insurance. Currently I am on Medicare and I have a Blue Cross supplemental. Now after the following experience I will always use the VA as my Primary medical. About a month ago I was at a dance competition with my wife and I started having episodes of blurry vision in my left eye. I had a routine appointment with the clinic for an eye exam the Monday after this experience. This eye exam is something new that I have never been called to have done. I think it was just a new thing that the VA was just starting to offer Veterans. Anyway I went in for that exam and they took a bunch of pictures of both eyes. The next morning I got a call from my VA Dr that apparently reviewed the photos and he was very concerned that I had a blood clot in my left eye. He said he was immeidetly going to set up an appointment with an eye specialist in Victoria. A few days later I saw the eye Dr and he did not see any clot so he summerized that I was throwing random clots and suggested I see my cardiologist for a possible carotid artery issue. I went the next day to my heart Dr and they did an ultrasound and discovered I had at least a 95% blockage. They sent me directly to a vascular surgeon in San Antonio who at once set up a brain angiogram the same week on Thursday and determined it to be a 99% blockage on the left side and 75 on the right. The next morning the vascular surgeon did the surgery on the left side and I am currently recovering with a 100% success. Because of my VA Clinic Dr being very professional and diligent and taking immediate action he likely saved my life or at the very least eliminated the great possibility of a massive stroke. I am so grateful for our local VA Clinic and all of the professional staff that assisted me thru this life changing experience. It seems the VA gets a lot of negative feedback and unwarranted comments from a lot of people but my experience with the VA for the last 20 years has been execellent. Thank you and Bravo to the Victoria VA clinic and especially to the amazing Dr that caught this problem and took immediate action. I am forever grateful.

Recently had surgery at this hospital, and I was very scared the whole time. However, every single person that I came in contact with was above and beyond amazing. Communication left absolutely no question unanswered, kindness was so above and beyond they were nicer to me than some of my family. Everybody was truly amazing. I met my entire team before surgery, and everybody spoke to me after. The nurses were so kind. And Dr Zamora did amazing with my surgery. I cannot say enough good things about the experience I had. I truly appreciate them so much. It can be super scary when health issues happen so if you are in that unfortunate situation I 1,000,000% recommend this hospital. You absolutely could not be treated better.

I have been a nurse 34 years, and I have never worked for, been to this hospital, or told them I was a nurse. My husband went to the ER, got admitted, and had a procedure. We had the BEST care here. The hospital was very clean, ALL the staff was very very attentive, knowledgeable, and so kind. Everything was explained to him in a timely manner. I came to StraightWay in 1988. I had ruined my life and nearly died because of addiction. After a lengthy hospital stay, my pastor referred me to StraightWay. Even though I had lost all hope of ever being anything but a junkie, I got what I desperately needed most: a second chance - and people who were willing to invest their time, and even their very lives to show me what it means to follow Jesus Christ and to live my life for Him. To date, I am going on 30 years of being not only drug free, but being a happy and productive member of the community where I live. My husband and I have three beautiful children and have been married for 22 years this year. My relationship to my adult children and my family has been restored, something I had once thought impossible. I'm so grateful that StraightWay was here when I was in need. I cannot imagine where I would be today if not for this place.

From the beautiful people who maintain the breathtaking 132 acres, to the very top of the medical/ clinical team — and of course Dan — every single person is beyond exceptional. I truly believe the “secret sauce” everyone talks about at The Orchard is community. It begins with the people who dedicate their lives not only to their own sobriety, but to ours as residents as well. I cannot express enough gratitude to everyone who welcomed me into their care with open arms — with no judgment, no preconceived notions, and every willingness to give me the help, the space, and the love I needed to heal from trauma that resulted in addiction. The facility is magnificent and far exceeded my expectations of a recovery facility. Firstly, I was allowed to bring my fur baby with me which was a wonderful comfort to me. I don’t think I would have done as well without having her with me. The facilities are clean and well-kempt. The staff is caring, understanding, and genuinely invested in your unique recovery journey (Jacob and Sunny are phenomenal). The therapists authentically understand the journey to recovery and ensure everyone feels respected and heard. While your recovery is taken seriously and put in the work, they make the process fun and relatable. The physician and nursing staff is thorough and available 24/7 - they care about each patient and their bedside manner is impeccable. They are NOT autonomous robots like you see with a lot of other medical facilities. Nursing even does occasional group sessions on the medical aspects of recovery, post-recovery preventative care. You are even sent home with a supply of medications to help bridge the gap between discharge and your own provider. And the food… where do I start? I have travelled all over the country for work, eating at high end hotels and restaurants yet the thrice daily meal here far exceeded in quality and variety. The thrice daily, freshly cooked international cuisines were amazing! They also have juices, sodas, flavored water, coffee, teas, high end snacks, and even ice cream available 24/7. They have working washers and dryers and even provide Tide pods and dryer sheets. The outside grounds are peaceful and the outside activities during and after group sessions are relaxing. They have karaoke, acupuncture, movie nights, and yoga among other activities. I highly recommend this facility!

Great experience! I was nervous going in but,once inside I was welcomed from the beginning to the end of my stay.The staff treated everyone like family. If you didn't have clothes they provided you with everything you needed including personal hygiene items! Clean environment we also went to a outside meeting. The women I met inside like myself going through my journey was amazing. I'm still in contact with alot of them & all doing great things. Like I said in the beginning a great place to go when you on your to ONE DAY AT A TIME! YOU CAN,YOU,SHALL,YOU WILL💜

I Wanna start by saying thank you to everyone at PRC for helping me through this difficult process of getting sober. Where do I begin so back in January it was a learning process and a great experience for me I never thought in a million years I could have done that. However today march 28th I AM GOING STRONG ON 82 days sober and by the grace of my higher power and working the steps and making sober connections I’m sober today. I’ve been through a lot during my life with being part of the LGBTQ community (a Transgender Woman) I had lots of hurdles when I first arrived and overcome them so I’m really glad to be doing IOP at the montrose Location I couldn’t have done this without MY PRC FAMILY. Today is day three of being admitted into Willow springs. I can’t say enough about this place. If you’re thinking about getting help and looking at Willow springs, choose this place. I’m not going to sugar coat it, recovery isn’t easy, detox isn’t easy - but this place is great. The staff cares about you, the other patients are friendly and care about each other, it truly is a community from top to bottom that cares about you and cares about each other. Recovery is a hard path, but it’s worth it. Willow springs - thank you so much, I can’t wait to see who I am when I leave, and that’s all due to you giving me the tools to be the best version of my self.
