My first name is Pittman. Over the past year and a half I have been to great oaks 3 times. Each time I did a ten day detox. The last time I tried to do 30 and only made it to 14 days. Point is that this place is not perfect although the kitchen staff and food were both the best, but I gotta say this place and the staff are very sincere about recovery and the clients. Again, no recovery center is perfect, but the obstacles are easy to get around if you want help. I thank you great oaks staff for picking me up and getting me back to my wife and my life!!! Pittman B

The staff is incredibly friendly, helpful and professional. When I say staff, I mean EVERYONE. From the techs, to the medical staff, to the housekeeping(they do your laundry), to the groundskeepers, counselors, everybody. This is world-class, luxury, top-tier care. If you want to do it right and you believe that you get what you pay for, this is the place for you. I'm a current resident who has been here for just over a week and am already planning to extend my stay another 30 days.

I came to StraightWay in 1988. I had ruined my life and nearly died because of addiction. After a lengthy hospital stay, my pastor referred me to StraightWay. Even though I had lost all hope of ever being anything but a junkie, I got what I desperately needed most: a second chance - and people who were willing to invest their time, and even their very lives to show me what it means to follow Jesus Christ and to live my life for Him. To date, I am going on 30 years of being not only drug free, but being a happy and productive member of the community where I live. My husband and I have three beautiful children and have been married for 22 years this year. My relationship to my adult children and my family has been restored, something I had once thought impossible. I'm so grateful that StraightWay was here when I was in need. I cannot imagine where I would be today if not for this place.

I just left this amazing place! Nervous not knowing what to expect not wanting to be there. I did 21 days. The 21 days there was life changing. I spent time at Skyward Addiction Treatment Center in Sugar Land and it really helped me turn things around. My counselor, Ms. Kimberly Isaac, was amazing — she took the time to actually understand what I was going through and helped me work through a lot of stuff instead of just going through the motions. The nursing staff, Jessica and Brianna, also deserve a shoutout, they were attentive and made sure I was taken care of every step of the way, even when I wasn't the easiest patient to deal with. Recovery isn't easy but having people like this in your corner makes all the difference. Would recommend Skyward to anyone who's serious about getting better. David W.

Positive Recovery is a game changer. I've been on my own recovery road for years by myself but l've never been able to connect all the pieces to stay sober. PRC provided me with tools I could use on a day to day basis that help me through life's situations as they come. Glenn, one of the counselors at the Cinco Ranch location, is very insightful and actually in recovery himself. He could relate to what I've been through and what I go through daily. This is one of the Best Recovery Centers that I have ever been to. The staff are there with you through it all, whether it be a Residential Assistant or a Nurse or your own Clinician you are never doing it alone. They've Got You all the way through to the end. This program is just different. Ive been in programs before and they were very surface level, but if youre willing to put in the work, these therapists and counselors are determined to help you in the healing process and deeply. Im really glad I took this step for myself to become a more well person and I hope others choose this step for themselves too with this program because it is worth it. You are worth it. My dad has struggled with drug addiction for 25+ years. He recently had a massive heart attack due to drug use and his situation was becoming dire. We knew if he didn't get help he wasn't going to make it much longer. He finally agreed to get treatment and my sister found this place. He went from not wanting to go to rehab to not wanting to leave this place. He absolutely loved it and loves everyone there. He considers them family. He completed his treatment and the staff is still there to offer him support and help him succeed. Andy has been amazing at helping him find out patient programs. They truly care here. They deserve more than 5 stars.

I'm at a loss for words for how great this place is and their team... i have extreme PTSD and akathisia and now no akathisia and plenty of new coping skills for my PTSD, some causes derived from the other psych wards I've been to for my depression and akathisia, so i was scared to come here but Menninger made me feel more at home than my own house also extremely safe too. I've had such a great experience I now consider staff my family. I'd recommend to anyone I know. they stick to the values they have but greatly exceed them. they truly love their clients... now I'm a changed man and can chase my dreams to the fullest. This is to let Harris Health know HOW WONDERFUL each and every part of y'all are. I come in kinda anxious And not really wanting to be there(It's a long trip). I start at the Check in. That Lady(sorry I don't know your name), starts out the process by understanding what I need and then sending me off to the right place. Next stop is the pharmacy. You guys rock trying to get my meds to me as soon as possible! Thank You! That's a big weight off my mind. Next, it's 3rd floor check-in. Just wonderful and caring people! I'm there over an hour early. I come out of the ladies room and everybody's looking for me! The Lab tech, the Vitals tech, and the Rn! WOW!!!! Going into this hospital was the best decision I could have ever made. My first night stay was not what I expected and the next morning I wanted to go AMA and was demanding that they give me a 4 hr letter. The nice nurse Ms Jessie talked to me and the Casemanager Ms Sharon came in the nursing desk smiling and laughing and saying good morning to the two nurses Ms Jessie and the other nurse I forgot her name and Ms Sharon turned to me and asked what’s wrong why you want to leave. I told her this was not what I expected that the techs were mean and didn’t want to be asked no questions Ms Marilyn complaining her leg hurting and wasn’t going to move to get what we needed. The therapist had people in her office and couldn’t get time to talk to me. Ms Sharons funny attitude and joy was what changed my mind to stay; she told me Wait let’s talk about this before you make your mind up to leave without getting the treatment you came into the hospital for. She brought me to her office and let me talk and share what was going on with me and my reason for wanting to kill myself. I talked and she totally listened and when I finished she commented and what stuck with me from her was her comment to me; on wanting to kill myself. She told me “Listen, you have no reason to feel so bad and down that you want to kill yourself; always VALUE yourself regardless what happens in your life; she said WE, meaning even herself all go through tough times buts it’s all in how we handle it; she did not make me feel bad; she lifted my feelings; I left her office laughing and smiling and I got my 4 hr letter back and stayed my term of treatment. Just those words of Always Value yourself” regardless of what you going through meant the change of thinking suicidal thoughts every time something happened with me; feeling like no one cared.. Ms Jessie, Ms Kim, Ms Stephanie and it was a male tech were very involved and nice also but it was Ms Sharon’s encouraging word that meant so much to me and whenever I’m feeling down; I remember her words and my day and thoughts turn to better thoughts. My stay at this hospital was mind changing for me. I hope I never have to go back but if I do I will request to go on the the Unit with Ms Sharon and the other staff that made my stay comfortable andsuccessful.. Thank you West Oaks for having caring people that work for you.

The place to go-to if you need Veteran Mental Health assistance during a crisis. The Houston VA medical center is already busy and packed, and this was the next best thing to VA health care. Would have preferred the VA ER- but I thought about all the poeple who already have problems receiving care there. Give it a try- even if you don't feel like you are in a crisis.

I had a genuinely positive experience at West Oaks, Veteran Unit 9. Inpatient rehab is not an easy place to be, but there are people here who truly make a difference. I especially want to recognize Marcus. The genuine care he shows for the veterans is something that cannot be faked. His groups are meaningful, and you can tell that he actually cares about the people in the program and wants to see them succeed. Having someone like that around makes a huge difference when you're trying to work on yourself. I also want to recognize Jim White. He runs a tight ship, and it shows. The inpatient rehab program is organized and runs well, and a lot of that starts with his leadership. Jim does a great job, and having strong leadership makes the entire environment better. And RN Miles..super duper good guy. Just an all-around positive person to have around. I won't pretend everything is perfect. Some of my interactions with the cafeteria staff have been very disappointing, and I feel like there could definitely be improvement in how some people speak to and treat the veterans. I also had negative experiences with a tech named Chevy, who came across as rude. That being said, people like Jim, Marcus, and Miles make up for a lot. Their professionalism, attitude, and genuine care for the veterans are what I will remember most. West Oaks Veteran Unit 9 has some really good people working there, and they deserve recognition for the difference they make.

Okay, I thought I'd give a shout out to this VA outpatient center in Katie. Because I see the low numbers, and I don't think it's a fair deal to give a negative review for negative experiences in a system that's full of bureaucracy. When people are just trying to do their jobs, the only complaint I have about this clinic is that I can't keep a primary care physician. They keep leaving, but that has nothing to do with the clinic that's, I don't know, maybe the theory. The doctors aren't happy with the pay or the bureaucracy or the workload. I don't know, but it's a lot asked of them to help us veterans. So I appreciate the effort that they put out every day. They come to work, they deal with us. Sometimes we can be difficult as vets, because we have a lot of issues that we're dealing with the military can really screw you up Lionel, so for them to have the patience, anybody in the medical field, my mom was ALV. N for 24 years before she passed and my hat goes off to anybody in the medical profession. Because I know it's not easy work. Some of the stories she would tell when she came home were horrifying, and I hope that I don't ever become one of those problem patient. Um, but this is just a shout out to the K. V. A the wait times aren't that long. I've never had to wait 22 long for an appointment and if they have the availability in the schedule, they'll fit you in.So I guess it's all a matter of perspective.You can go into a situation with a negative attitude and get a negative experience, or you can go in with a positive attitude.And if negative things happen, they brush off of you.So my advice is to just be calm and be patient.

I came seeking help for my daughter, they are helping her so much. I've seen a change in here since the therapy has started. It was overwhelming for me as a parent to seek help part of a Mental Hospital, but it has helped her tremendously and I'm glad I took her there. Thank you to the staff and therapist for your help. I noticed the average rating was only 2.3 stars, so I was quite worried when I checked my son in, afraid that he might have a difficult experience. However, it turned out to be completely different. He actually enjoyed his stay and really liked the activities, nurses, and therapists. During his one-week stay, he learned a lot and gained many valuable insights. The check-in and check-out processes were quick, smooth, and efficient. Overall, we had a very positive experience, and I would highly recommend this place to other families.

My son was never been excited to attend speech therapies until he had Sydelle in TIRR. He's usually grumpy to attend speech but he got excited when i mention Sydelle and his retention at home is very positive. Just leaving a comment as a program volunteer. I honestly feel like the Boaz House provides Christian support, sisterhood advice and valuable connections. Between religious studies, counseling, church and volunteer opportunities each person in the program has the opportunity for success. These skills only helped girls transition into sober living. I have seen a lot of growth with girls invested in the program. For girls who left the program, there were a lot prayers and real loss felt. The staff member I worked closely with definitely gave 120% love & support to the girls.

The Boaz House transformed my life in more way than one. I have battled with addiction for 17 years and been to a couple rehabs none was like this one. Christina truly cares about her clients and goes above and beyond to help them. I didn't think this program was for me but after completing it and seeing how much this changes lives I have decided to stay here, became staff and am now giving back.
