I was referred to KPR by a dear friend who is alumni and I can clearly see why. I am so glad I chose to get as far away from my home as possible in a safe space where I could heal and get all I could for my journey in sobriety. I chased my grief away at the bottom of a bottle and pills. I came to KPR to process my grief and stop running from it AND to choose me for once! To relax a little in between our busy daily itineraries in a beautiful location, choosing ME, bc I had not stopped going since my late husband drowned. I was blessed enough to have a solid support system at home who wanted to actively participate in my recovery this time so that helped tremendously but wasn’t always the case in my past. KPR gave me so much more than I dreamed I would get. After multiple attempts to acquire long term sobriety from substance abuse, mental health, and traumas, I was convinced that I was a hopeless, lost cause! Spiritually Exhausted of a physical existence! Any concerns I came with or acquired during my stay were each individually addressed with great care and in a timely manner! The staff was each unique and armed with pertinent knowledge and inspiration. The property and programming live up to their description! They will literally go above and beyond to make you feel as safe and comfortable as possible. Until the day I walked out the door I was completely impressed by their care… the only complaint is the FOOD! Not terrible. Not good. And the cook. I had a couple of incidents with her and I feel her lack of professionalism is incredibly concerning and disturbing to be working with a vulnerable population. From what I understand she has a history of this behavior so it is with respect I make you and others aware. I have no doubt it has been addressed. Thank you KPR for loving me while I was there and blessings upon all who have the genuine heart and attitude of servitude! I have been to rehabs numerous times before coming to Kemah Palms. I can’t express how wonderful and helpful all the staff have been. Hands down the best detox/inaptient experience I’ve ever had. I am leaving here today with an abundance of self esteem, stability, and joy. I feel confident and ready to face whatever may come my way. The tools and strategies they’ve showed me, I will carry with me and use. As I leave inpatient today… I’m choosing to continue my recovery and sobriety over to their sober living. I’m beyond excited to live again.

Into Action has the best rehab experience I’ve had yet. They scared the shit out of me and I think maybe that’s exactly what I needed. Hi: My name is Leslie L. I was treated at TRS in July & August of this year for Substance Abuse Disorder. I cannot say enough wonderful things about my experience at TRS and the impact this program had on my addiction, recovery, and life. I completed TRS's detox, residential, and PHP program. Each level of care played a significant & important role in my Recovery. As soon as I walked into TRS I was treated with understanding, compassion, dignity, and patience. The entire staff truly cared about me not just as a client, as a person as well. Treatment at TRS helped me understand myself, face my struggles, and taught me tools I needed to help me in the future with my addiction and disease one day at a time. The transition from detox, residential, and PHP was seamless and gave me the structure and support I needed at each stage. I learned coping skills, a better understanding of my disease and my addiction. I learned that Recovery is really possible if I put in the work I needed by paying attention, listening, and participating in group. Most importantly, TRS gave me hope when I desperately needed it. I left TRS with gratitude, strength, knowledge, and a belief in a new design of living. To every staff member who supported me along this journey: Thank You from the bottom of my heart. Your kindness, knowledge, and encouragement helped me when I was fighting for my life. I will never forget this amazing program. I'm honored I had an opportunity to attend this program. The facility is magnificent and far exceeded my expectations of a recovery facility. Firstly, I was allowed to bring my fur baby with me which was a wonderful comfort to me. I don’t think I would have done as well without having her with me. The facilities are clean and well-kempt. The staff is caring, understanding, and genuinely invested in your unique recovery journey (Jacob and Sunny are phenomenal). The therapists authentically understand the journey to recovery and ensure everyone feels respected and heard. While your recovery is taken seriously and put in the work, they make the process fun and relatable. The physician and nursing staff is thorough and available 24/7 - they care about each patient and their bedside manner is impeccable. They are NOT autonomous robots like you see with a lot of other medical facilities. Nursing even does occasional group sessions on the medical aspects of recovery, post-recovery preventative care. You are even sent home with a supply of medications to help bridge the gap between discharge and your own provider. And the food… where do I start? I have travelled all over the country for work, eating at high end hotels and restaurants yet the thrice daily meal here far exceeded in quality and variety. The thrice daily, freshly cooked international cuisines were amazing! They also have juices, sodas, flavored water, coffee, teas, high end snacks, and even ice cream available 24/7. They have working washers and dryers and even provide Tide pods and dryer sheets. The outside grounds are peaceful and the outside activities during and after group sessions are relaxing. They have karaoke, acupuncture, movie nights, and yoga among other activities. I highly recommend this facility!

I'm really sorry and impressed with the staff because I don't know if could have the same restraint they showed me and my foul mouth.The staff was without a doubt the best I've encountered. At the beginning of 2019 i could have never imagined how the year would end. Our daughter had been struggling with addiction since college. Her therapist recommended BARC and when she came out of the recovery center, she was not even close to the person she went in as. She embraced the program and did the work to better herself and her life. Fast forward to 2026, she is still sober and is living a full life now with a supportive husband and two beautiful daughters. She still puts in the work to stay sober but learned how to do this through BARC.

I couldn’t say enough great things about BARC. House 3 is where my entire life changed and changed for the better. I learned so much about myself, alcoholism / addiction and exactly how it affected me. When you understand “The Stickman” then it all starts making sense. The staff at BARC is amazing. They don’t just talk about alcoholism / addiction that they’ve learned from a book. Everyone there has been there before and knows first hand what they are talking about and teaching. There is not a place on earth I could recommend more highly than BARC for recovery. BARC was where my rebirth happened and if you’re looking for a place to make that change it can be the place of your rebirth as well. 12/16/2025 is my sobriety birthday If you’re rally lucky, when you’re there one of your brothers in the house will know how and like to cook like me. lol 😂

This is my favorite place on earth!! It's where I showed up with nothing and completely hopeless, to being over 2 years free from alcohol and drugs. I truly believe the magic happens when people who are hopeless and have given up, come to a place like BARC, and start working together and share each other's experiences!! A lot gets said about the VA system; and I, for one, have been pretty critical... mostly related to the "administration" and positions related. But, I want to say I had one of the most pleasant (if skin can surgery for 4 hours can be pleasant) experiences this morning at the Houston VAMC Dermatology Department. I had interface with more than 6 medical personnel for my procedures this morning. Got "called back" 30 minutes early, by name. I was attended by 2 surgeons, a supervising surgeon, a graduating MD, and two wound care nurses. They were ALL great, professional, and personable and funny... enjoyed their time... and as pain free as I've ever been. It was very obvious to me this morning that this team was very dedicated to veteran care, by choice, and very skillful in their chosen profession. I can't brag on these guys enough!! Into Action has the best rehab experience I’ve had yet. They scared the shit out of me and I think maybe that’s exactly what I needed. I’ve Known Of Montrose Counseling/Community Center since Summer of 1995. During That Time MCC was located on Richmond Avenue in a beautiful but smaller building than they’re in now. My first Therapist was Lee Willis a phenomenal therapist for anyone living with gender dysphoria. Since then I’ve had sporadic experiences at MCC from 1995 till 2008. However, when I move back to Houston in 2008 I started going To MCC consistently especially after 2009. I’ve had some wonderful case managers and therapist from Mandy Lloyd in 2009 till Daniel Perez now. I can honestly say there’re people who work at MCC who authentically care about the LGBTQ+ community of Houston very much, and those same people are willing to provide exceptional services for anyone regardless of their sexual orientation, gender, religion, or race to me that’s commendable. I lost my Therapist/ Friend Mike Ator in November Of last year 11-04-24 was the day I was told he had passed away, and that news shook me to my core it was devastating heartbreaking news. I miss him greatly and that’s the kind of people that work at MCC phenomenal people who truly care and reaffirm to their clients they matter. In closing, I wholeheartedly recommend MCC to anyone who seeking services like Mental Wellness, Community groups to network, groups that meet to discuss life’s challenges, and helping people who are apart of the LGBTQ+ community by reaffirming the fact YOU MATTER 🤗 I Sincerely And Unequivocally give MCC Five Stars For being a lighthouse In Dark Times Thank You ☺️ GOD Bless 🙏🏾 !!!!!! I recently moved back to Galveston. I went to the local VA. 10 blocks away. The nursing staff told me to go to Houston. I saw Jacob smiling on my way out. I explained to Estella about my mental illnesses & she got argumentantive... after 3 days of trying to get some help and being rebuffed. I decided to just drive the 50 miles into houston... I couldn’t say enough great things about BARC. House 3 is where my entire life changed and changed for the better. I learned so much about myself, alcoholism / addiction and exactly how it affected me. When you understand “The Stickman” then it all starts making sense. The staff at BARC is amazing. They don’t just talk about alcoholism / addiction that they’ve learned from a book. Everyone there has been there before and knows first hand what they are talking about and teaching. There is not a place on earth I could recommend more highly than BARC for recovery. BARC was where my rebirth happened and if you’re looking for a place to make that change it can be the place of your rebirth as well. 12/16/2025 is my sobriety birthday If you’re rally lucky, when you’re there one of your brothers in the house will know how and like to cook like me. lol 😂

This is my favorite place on earth!! It's where I showed up with nothing and completely hopeless, to being over 2 years free from alcohol and drugs. I truly believe the magic happens when people who are hopeless and have given up, come to a place like BARC, and start working together and share each other's experiences!! Everyone can relate and understands when you feel like like nobody could possibly understand how you feel, or what your dealing with!! We do!! Forever grateful for Bay Area Recovery Center. It's where I got my life back.

Our daughter entered BARC in 2019 after several unsuccessful stays at other facilities. After speaking to the staff at BARC we were hopeful that their approach would help our daughter get sober. During her stay, we began to see her transform into the beautiful, loving woman we always knew she could be. At the beginning of 2019 i could have never imagined how the year would end. Our daughter had been struggling with addiction since college. Her therapist recommended BARC and when she came out of the recovery center, she was not even close to the person she went in as. She embraced the program and did the work to better herself and her life. Fast forward to 2026, she is still sober and is living a full life now with a supportive husband and two beautiful daughters. She still puts in the work to stay sober but learned how to do this through BARC.

This place saved my life. The staff is amazing, the treatment is very in-depth. They don’t just hand you a book and let it ride. They teach you all about the book and really work with you to get that stuff inside of you that’s killing you out!!! I am forever grateful to house 4 and the staff that helped me heal! I would recommend this place to anyone struggling w addiction, as a matter of fact I already have several times.
