From ages 14-18 this was my home. And because of the staff and their compassion and kindness that I am, who I am today. I was able to graduate high school and get my diploma, had I gone home that never would have been possible. The care that is given to the children there is without a doubt extraordinary. I’ve spent my whole life in the system, YDS and their staff were the only ones to treat me like a person and not a case number or a “troubled kid”. Not all group homes or facilities in the state of Wyoming cared much for kids like me, YDS was the only place that was able to help me. For that they have my gratitude and respect for life.

When I came to CWCC, I was helped right away. I had multiple staff ask if I needed anything to drink and if I had been helped yet. The staff was on top of getting me scheduled immediately and I saw Donna the next day. I was immediately set up with a follow up visit the next week as well as an appointment with Brandee for talk-therapy. The staff are busy, if you have a little patience and are understanding, it really can go a long way. Every person that I personally spoke to were professional, understanding, and on top of the care I asked for. I was not there for any type of addiction treatment, I was simply asking to continue my care there after moving to Wyoming from a different state. I understand how stressful it may be to have patience when you feel sick, or in a rush, however they are working fast behind the scenes and if you just take a breath, and have a seat, they really are an amazing staff.

I went through cwcc almost 2 years ago. And everybody I was involved with was great. This place changed my life for the good. I've been clean and sober ever since I left. But recovery is there if you really want it. if you don't want it then you wont get it. Dana,Lesa,Morgan are the greatest. March 25th of this year(2026) I've been clean and sober for 2 years. And my life continues to get better every day. So CWCC is a great place if you want help but if you don't want it or don't try then no place will work. Cwcc will always have a place in my heart and soberity

Children’s Home Society Black Hills Children’s Home is tucked away on Rockerville Road near Rapid City, South Dakota. The facility is located among trees, so the whole place has a calm energy. And that calmness supports the kids who receive treatment here, since they’ve often experienced trauma, unpredictable home lives and emotional struggle
Even though this facility has had so many rough patches and so many Conflicts with many Native American and non-colored individuals in this community. I can sure say that the children’s home Society being one of the most oldest facilities to help youth and mothers all around, strive Daily to help those in need whether that’s residential, Emergency Shelter. I once, had To stay at the children’s homes society because I had no where else to go, I was under the custody of my mother. An it seemed so hopeless to even want to move forward with school, or my everyday life because I thought these people were here to hurt me. The Home Society all around had always welcomed My Mother and I with open arms regardless of the opinion on her history. And chose to help us succeed for the better. This is one facility. I am very fond of because even after all these years they continue to fight for what they believe is right in their terms. The facility has their own agenda, but let’s remember all the employees and everybody who wants to help everyone who work there, All work there for one thing and that’s to help indigenous, homeless, and even youth who had no support. Who WE AS PEOPLE would like to see succeed. Although this facility doesn’t shine particularly. Children’s Home Society holds a place in my heart. I thank you all for doing what you can, and making everything possible. Because without the Societies help. I wouldn’t be here today, a grown adult, attempting to change the lives of youth today. I am forever grateful :)
