Everything I was ever told before I went in the military, and when I was in, was to avoid the VA at all costs. And I did. Even for 14 years since I had gotten out. Then I had some medical stuff come up and I reached out to an Air Force buddy and he was shocked that I wasn't being treated at the VA. I called the 1-800 number for eligibility, and had an appointment scheduled the next day. I get that every VA probably is a little nuanced, but the Milwaukee location has been incredible to say the least. Everything I was told was completely untrue or just outdated. These men and women are awesome.

I've been bringing my dad to this VA for the last few months, and after just our first visit, we knew he was in good hands. Every specialist we've seen have been nothing but hands on, attentive, thorough, empathetic, patient and helpful. From Dr.B in oncology, to Tess up in endoscopy, these women are some of the most kind medical professionals I have ever met, and I hope they know their kindness goes a long way and is still thought of well after. I have had so many wonderful interactions with the staff there, there was a nurse who ordered my dad some lunch as he was in recovery after a procedure, which was such a nice thing to do, I didn't catch her name but she might be the charge nurse in endoscopy maybe? Another thing I really liked about this VA is that if you look lost and wandering the halls, there are many friendly faces around to get you pointed in the right direction, and most of the time they'll ask YOU first lol. There was also a younger man up front who helped lead me to the other building over to 114 through the tunnel, he didn't have to, but he did, just over all blown away by the difference of health care compared to the other VA my dad was going to. And with already having seen someone in pulmonary, oncology, endoscopy, ED department, mental health and MRI, I have nothing but good things to say. Thank you kindly, for everything.

I'm new, been here since November . Absolutely no issues . I'm a phase 6..Been sober 9yrs August 2 2026 will be 10 years . And if "YOU" put in the work believe in "YOURSELF" and don't give up "YOU" got this . I've been with CtC for my entire recovery (almost was on subs prior and IOP). I was at 43rd and had no issues and I expect the same here . My counselor Jessica is awesome and she listens . And staff is very kind . I wanna thank Lisa especially before I transferred (due to moving) she was very helpful and went above and beyond very smooth transfer . Doc is awesome and nurses very kind and Enetrea been completely supportive throughout all the years. been their during all my family losses as well as my prior counselor I'm just so thankful . That is my experience . Like I said it's all about "YOU" and "YOU" must not ever give up on "YOURSELF" ...We do recover you got this don't ever forget that .

Very hardworking, under appreciated counselors and nurses. Safe, clean, and supportive atmosphere. I am very grateful for them and their helping hand. I can tell you this: some of the entitlement, arrogance, and plain disrespect I have personally witnessed the staff endure is absurd. It’s as if some of the patients act like they are owed something when the stress and frustration are already plainly written on the staff member’s faces. I know that personally, I couldn’t handle it. A kind word, some patience, and a sincere “thank you” can go a long way. Furthermore, not a single person there “owes” us anything! None of the staff is getting rich by working there, they work there because they genuinely care. Remember, they are there every day at 5a.m. for us already, and you are a sad human if you don’t realize that and treat them accordingly. THANK YOU ALL, there’s no telling where many of us would be without you! Your support is definitely noticed and appreciated!! Keep up the great work!!

If you want the help and you're willing to put in the work, time, and effort this place will work with you. But again, if you want to make excuses and blame everyone but yourself, you'll make this place the problem. From the nurses, counselors and Dr. Hayes they really do care. Is everything perfect? No but that's life - things can always be better. But again, if you're willing to make a go at recovery, you can succeed in this program. It starts and ends with YOU and if YOU want it .

I came in broken from PTSD and alcohol and wasn't sure this place could help. They surprised me. Had real therapy that went deep, not just surface stuff. EMDR hit hard but helped me sleep again. Talkin with other vets made me feel less alone. Docs knew what they were doing too. Only thing I’d change is more group time. Still, I walked out stronger than I came in. Real thankful for that.

Came here after struggling with pain meds from a work injury. WCS got me set up on Suboxone, which made a big difference. I appreciated being able to stay in touch with my wife and kids throughout, that really kept me grounded. They also helped me start thinking about getting back to work. Not everything was perfect (wait times could be better) but the staff truly care. It’s a solid place if you're serious about getting clean.

I came to Brown Deer adult residential having given up, feeling like I was a lot cause, and no hope that I had a chance or that they could help. They allowed me to not only come get treatment, but they gave me the tools I needed to change my life. I will be the first to admit their jobs are anything but easy, but they do a phenomenal job. I have only ever been in the adult residential side, so I cannot speak on the other units, but the adult residential program absolutely changed my life. They prioritized my safety, comfort, and taught me how to prioritize me. When I think of when I was finally able to turn my life around, Brown Deer will always be a huge part of that. The impact they had on me is truly remarkable. After 6 weeks there and completing the program I can confidently say I have confidence in myself, I love myself, I am proud of myself, I am not a lost cause, and I CAN DO HARD THINGS. I am not the same person I was at admission, not even a little bit. If you are struggling and feel like you are out of options, give this place a shot and be willing to try their advice because even when you don’t want to hear it, it works. Thank you to the team at Brown Deer for giving me the tools to turn my life around. Yall brought the light back into my eyes and I will be forever grateful. p.s. My son is currently inpatient. He had a rough couple days and refused to speak to me. He finally called me today with a whole new outlook. He said it’s not a “bad” place and they let him do puzzles all the time. The drs are keeping in contact with me as his meds are needed some work so he can be fully himself when he gets home. I was extremely misinformed when I was told it was a bad place.

The staff here is incredibly welcoming and kind. They maintain a calm demeanor while interacting with patients. The nurse practitioners are equally kind. Resident Dr. Rachna Tomar performed an excellent job during the screening process, and her supervisor, Dr., was incredibly kind and attentive, making her sound like a true professional. The prescriptions are tailored to meet the patients’ specific needs. Overall, this outreach community health center, in collaboration with Wisconsin Medical College, is truly outstanding.

I can’t say enough good things about my time at Great Lakes Men's Rehab. From the moment I arrived, the staff made me feel welcomed and understood. They provided the support I needed while creating a comfortable environment. The program was well-structured and focused on real recovery. I’ve been a patient of West Grove in Oak Creek for around 5 years, maybe longer. In the beginning I saw various providers for my psychiatry needs, but have been connected and consistently seeing Dr. Kurter for around 3 years now. Wow! He changed my life. I am so thankful to have him as a provider. When we met, he reassured me that there was help for what I was seeking help with and was able to connect me with medication that has made a drastic change in how I see the world. I struggled for years and years with my mental health, and what I appreciated about him was that he was so knowledgeable about what I was experiencing and could explain to me in a way that I could understand why I was experiencing certain things as well as how I could help myself and how to monitor myself in the future. He was also so helpful to me and my family when my husband and I decided to try for another baby. I think what’s kind of cool is Dr. Kurter knows me so well that he can tell when I’m struggling with my mental health or other needs based off of just a few minutes of talking. I’ve also been connected with my therapist Anna for 2-3 years now. She is amazing! She listens to me so well, and doesn’t push me too hard to get to deep into the things I need to address until I’m ready. She’s seen me at some low moments, and has taught me how to work through those times and always emphasizes taking care of myself. I also appreciate Elizabeth at the front desk. She knows me by my nick name, since I don’t generally go by my full name, and I seriously appreciate that because i don’t have to explain who I am over and over again, she just knows. Elizabeth always helps me schedule appointments out months at a time, which is super helpful for my scheduling needs. Honestly, Dr. Kurter and Anna are always super flexible in their scheduling as well, which is super helpful. Elizabeth also helps me figure out any insurance questions I have, which is so helpful because I can be kind of clueless about co pays and all that stuff. I also forgot to mention, I absolutely love that I can see my therapist through telehealth. I have a newborn and it’s just much easier to not have to travel with her when I have an appointment. I love West Grove so much and appreciate what they’ve done for my life so much that I’ve actually referred 2 other people for care here. I truly mean it when I say, if you’re looking for providers who care about you as a whole person, I definitely recommend going to West Grove.

SURRENDER YOUR ADDICTION AND BEGIN AGAIN! For anyone struggling with addiction, or that knows a loved one struggling, this place can be a saving grace. I spent my teens and 20's a slave to drugs, state rehab, jail, none of it worked. 12 years clean now and The Salvation Army ARC in Milwaukee welcomed me with open arms, no questions asked. Did I have to work to stay there? Yes. All beneficiaries have to volunteer their time. Did I have 3 quality meals a day (including a salad bar at lunch and dinner?) Yes! Did I have to go to church? Yes! ( and thank GOD I did). They clothed me, fed me, gave me a safe warm place to sleep and a relationship with God. What did I have to give them? 40 hours a week as a volunteer in a number of roles at the facility. How many of us work more than that for less reward spiritually and physically? This place saved my life and not only did it save mine, after I graduated from the program (with a real job and my own apartment near the lake) my sister went to the womens facility in Romulus Michigan and she is now clean, with a husband, house and 2 children. Thanks be to God and the Salvation Army. Any previous "clients" of this facility with complaints are clearly entitled and dont understand that getting clean and sober requires a commitment from the USER and the facilitator. The Salvation Army couldnt provide these things without your work while you attend the program. Thankfully, Gods grace is free and part of the program. Stop being selfish, surrender yourself, your selfishness, ego and time to finally make a change in your life. I "sacrificed" 6 months of my life for an eternity and long term prosperity. Thank you again ARC, I will remember you this Christmas when our family is making charitable donations.

Every nurse and doctor showed extreme care and I really appreciate my care team everyone worked together for the well-being of I and my baby for a successful delivery.
