These guys know their stuff, and are some of the kindest, most compassionate and understanding people I’ve had the privilege of meeting. I have been to several inpatient facilities before, and this one is by far the best. It’s a very small unit, with a very calm and welcoming vibe. The real treat here is definitely the staff, though. These are genuinely some of my favorite people I’ve ever met. Andy, Liz, Siena, Mel, Laura, literally everybody, all the behavioral techs, all the nurses, those guys deserve a pay raise, SERIOUSLY. I mean it is a rehab it's not summer camp. Everyday wasn't sunshine and rose's. The morning meditation down to the one on one with my counselor " straight to the point and no BS!" This was and I hope my only time going. I was there in the middle of covid and snow storms but the friendships and experience I will always remember. "Update" 4y 10m 21d sober and counting and still working the program. I highly recommend Richard Jimenez 9 months ago I wanted to wait a year before i left a review about my experience at Vista, and here we are. I am 1 year and 1 month sober !! When i first came to the facility i was in terrible shape, physically and mentally. I fought the treatment for weeks before i saw that i was actually getting better. I found my higher power in this place and my life has changed in dramatic ways. I have no urge whatsoever to return to my previous way of life and i must give the credit to Vista. I got a good job, my relationships with my girlfriend, family, friends are a 100 times better. My health is better, my mind is clear, I am learning everyday to love my sober self again thanks to Cenakor! Honestly, I can't really complain. I had 3 meals a day, plus fruits as a snack. Yes, we shared a dorm but I had a good dorm group for the most part. We had a comfortable bed, a small laundry room with 2 wash days, we had easy chores to keep our minds busy that helped with the rehabilitation process. I did dishes the whole time I was there when we weren't attending our classes and AA meetings etc. Which sometimes involved activities throughout the day, we had plenty of free time. We could smoke cigarettes, that was a plus for me. I would play basketball, volleyball, I learned to play spades, and make bracelets. We would also play music on the speaker at night time, we would get chips and salsa for our night meetings, we got popcorn when we watched movies. I agree with the comment; “The clinicians are either great or terrible…” ABSOLUTELY. The front desk is cold 98% of the time, has a way of making you feel like an absolute waste of space, time, and effort……Now if this was an Arby’s, or maybe even an eye dr, honestly I’d probably move about my day. But this is MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES. The thought of having people with god awful bedside manner when you’re in such a time of need & vulnerability is absolutely infuriating. Some of us are crippled by social interaction, especially phone calls/confrontation, the least you could expect is someone with more than a monotone voice and dead look in their eyes. Maybe it’s because the fronts & and clinicians are properly medicated/regulated so they come across with no form of emotion….Lapsing on meds, no call backs for days/weeks. I won’t list my dr quite yet in hopes there is progress made. These are quite literally peoples lives you are playing with, if you only have a textbook perception of these disorders, maybe it’s time to look at a different industry. In years past I had a doctor, there, who put me on multiple medications, he changed my life. I was a complete mess. Overweight, depressed, feeling worthless. Also, the staff are employees of "Primary Care Solutions" (home-based in Dallas, TX) and not the VA, so they are probably less vulnerable to the personnel cuts and service disruptions that the VA is experiencing.
