Returning home from the hospital, I was initially expected to stay until next week, awaiting the culture results. However, an agreement was reached to continue antibiotic treatment at home, with adjustments as needed upon receiving the culture results. The VAMC in Marion, IL is amazing. I spent a couple of years at Naval Medical Center San Diego during a medical retirement board. I thought NMC San Diego was efficient and awesome. Given the lack of funding to the VA in general and all the bad press at the time I wasn’t looking forward to transitioning to the VA medical system. Boy was I wrong! If they can’t see you in a reasonable amount of time they are happy to send you out to a provider near your home vis a vis the veterans choice act. I have had numerous procedures at VAMC Marion and every time I was treated wonderfully. The entire staff is amazing and thoughtful and helpful. I can’t say enough good things about this VAMC. The campus is nice and compact. And the executive staff understands that they win when patients are healed and sent back out into the world as opposed to civilian medicine which seems to be incentivized to have you back often and heal you in their own sweet time. This VAMC is easy to find no matter what direction you approach from.

The place is great, but a few if the check in clerks could use a different position that doesn't deal directly with the patients. Rudeness and a cold attitude is not warranted towards any veteran. My first time visiting JC VA medical facility was truthfully the highlight of my day. Valet members were so helpful and were insistent on putting a smile on my face before even entering the building. I needed water and the woman running the cafe at the front of the main building gave me ice cold water free of charge. I was reading signs trying to figure out where to go on the first and second floor, and each time, a VA team member stopped to help direct me. I had multiple appointments here that day and every provider was so attentive to my questions and helpful with directing me where to go next or what to expect. I look forward to whenever I have to come back and couldn't express the gratitude I felt for the staff at this hospital during my visit!!

For anyone who truly needs help, stay far away from this place, I went here a little over a decade ago an all they did from the very moment was swindle me out of 10,000$ along with promises, there were no license medical professionals who could prescribe meds if necessary or physiotherapist who u could consult with, an once u are there they will do everything to have u pay more money for an extra 90 days than more money for their halfways houses, they will also turn u into a salesman/predator to prey on the weak in order for them to generate more wealth...financial crimes?? food is trash but what to you expect, bring you're own pillow and blanket if you can the stuff they give you is worse than bob barker. i`d buy the pillow and blanket brand new if you can or they might not allow you to bring it in they wash all used items you bring in so if its some huge comforter leave it at home I doubt that will slide. think small if you cant buy brand new. they have TVs with DVD players and movies to skim though, had roku while I was there may or may not still be around. there is a smoking section, you go as a group every couple hours. buy brand new packs of cigs before you enter open packs are not allowed. Other than those obvious flaws, flaws you would find everywhere. the staff were respectful and caring. This place is doing its part in saving peoples lives the staff are nice as long as you make an effort, they know you are going though a tough time you won't be forced to do anything if you don't want to, could be 7 days in bed only need to get up to do meds and heart rate readings. Would recommend to anyone.

Staff was excellent! Loved the dentist and hygienist. Only bad things were location and wait time for appts. Building is super hard to find. It's location is inside a high school. Besides being very hard to find and super long wait times for appts it was a pleasant visit and would recommend to friends and family

I've been going since January and have had a great experience with the people and the clinic as a whole. My 1st day (intake) wasn't a painful drawn out process. They were All professional and on point with each level of the appointment and best of all I got to dose and got take home doses for the weekend the very next day when I came back for my second dose.
