No treatment facility is perfect, and there are a few things I think could be improved, but overall my experience was very positive. In talking with residents who had been through treatment before and experienced relapses, I repeatedly heard this was the best facility they had been to. After my experience, I understand why. The biggest area for improvement is communication. There can be a lot of redirection between staff when trying to get an answer, and expectations aren't always communicated clearly. When someone is already in a difficult place and there to heal, even small communication issues can become frustrating. For example, there's a sign-up sheet for cleaning the lunch area that I didn't know about until I discovered I was on it. It's no big deal—about 15 minutes with several people—but knowing beforehand would help. Mail is another example: you need to check the office after sessions each day if you're expecting something. Small things, but clearer communication would make the experience easier. A few practical recommendations: bring an inexpensive wristwatch because you won't have your phone and clocks aren't always readily available. If you smoke, you can't bring a lighter, although techs are readily available to light cigarettes. A small, dim flashlight is useful for finding things at night without disturbing roommates. A blanket can also help in a cold room or with getting comfortable in a chair. Where Indiana Center for Recovery really shines is the people and treatment. Syndey, Greg, and Dave are excellent facilitators. Classes cover a wide range of subjects and include traditional groups along with activities such as art and music. I learned a great deal about recovery, myself, and how I look at life. They also offer acupuncture and a variety of other therapeutic activities. The staff deserves a lot of credit. Toni, Justin, Sarah, Carter, the nursing staff, and many others do a great job. The atmosphere among both staff and residents is remarkably nonjudgmental and supportive. Everyone has a story and is working through something. The facility has a gym, arcade, and plenty of outdoor areas for walking or sitting when the weather cooperates. Those things matter when you're temporarily removed from your normal life and routine. Treatment isn't easy. Being away from home, without your phone and outside your normal environment, can be difficult. But Indiana Center for Recovery gives you an opportunity to step outside that environment, learn about yourself, work on what brought you there, and figure out what comes next. I especially appreciate that treatment doesn't feel one-size-fits-all. They continually assess where you are, work closely with you, and help determine appropriate next steps for treatment, sobriety, recovery, or mental-health care. There are communication and organizational details I would improve, but they don't outweigh the quality of the people, treatment, support, and overall experience. For someone who genuinely wants help and is willing to participate in the process, I would absolutely recommend Indiana Center for Recovery. The CRT staff goes above and beyond to help any individual who wants to change their life for the better. The staff is always available and always ready to lend a helping hand anytime out of your 24 hour days. There's never a question that cannot be answered, and if there is the staff again will go above and beyond to get you the correct answer. The 90-day program provides structure and discipline to an individual's life who wants to make a positive change and continue to live a full sober life displaying the best version of yourself. At the end of the 90 day program Ms. Gatz and her staff will provide each individual further recovery by helping the individual who wants to say sober and continue to live with further housing. I moved to Bloomington in January 2024, I had never stepped foot in Bloomington, Indiana and I knew absolutely nobody. The staff at CRT helped me get all the correct documentations that I will need to get a job, driver's license, birth certificates, any other documents that I needed to further my life and Recovery. After the 90-day program and I moved on to a different sober living being Courage to Change the staff of CRT was still more than willing to help me with any other things that I needed or had questions for. Also after I graduated CRT I used to think the staff on the consistent basis for saving my life. They assured me that I saved my own life and they were just grateful to be able to give me the tools the structure and the discipline to change my life so that I can save my life. Me myself I can go on and on about CRT about all the wonderful things that they have to offer but I know 100% that there is not enough time in one day to speak on all the great experiences that I had at CRT. Probably with Bloomington meadows hospital has helped me immensely. Their staff helped me in a time where I thought nothing else could. Tai'ja was able to catch me before falling victim to the judicial system. Had she not gotten my message in time then I would possibly be facing a different outcome at this very moment. Instead she reached out with concern and comfort letting me know that everything was going to be okay and that I was able to be enrolled in intensive outpatient treatment. That's when my journey began. I've had a lot of therapists in my life but there's only one therapist that I will be forever grateful for and I would like to recognize her. She is Shenise Nash. Shenise is one of the most outstanding, outspoken, well versed in the language of therapy therapist that I have ever met. One would think that doing virtual visits might not be enough, but I am here, forever a believer in her utmost educated manner of tending to patients who are at their wit's end and trying to find the light. Shenise helped me when others couldn't or wouldn't. So if you're ever in a time of need and feel the darkness closing in just reach out to Bloomington Meadows talk to Tai'ja, and have her enroll you into Ms. Nash's intensive outpatient program. I'm here having completed said program to Bear witness that it is a complete life changer. Thank you Tai'ja for not letting me slip through the cracks. Whether they were delivering meals, giving him his meds, or helping him bathe, each staff member treated my husband with total respect. We enjoyed having lunch in the Bistro, where we could visit with other patients while we enjoyed a delicious meal. While crying out for help and being ignored had become the norm at other facilities, the crisis intervention team and staff at LifeSpring in Jasper began rallying around our family. They built a wall of safety around my loved one who needed care, a showed him (and us!) that we are not alone. They faced many “no’s” when trying to help us find additional critical care, but that did not deter them, even after hours, and they were able to find additional resources to help our family. I truly believe that thanks to their caring, determination and tenacity in ignoring the roadblocks and finding other avenues to take that they saved a family member’s life. They also followed up, after hours even, to make sure that the family member’s life had the support and care they needed. I will always be grateful for this group being put in our pathway.
