Attending PHP and IOP here has truly been one of the most important decisions I’ve ever made, and I can genuinely say that this place helped save my life. When I came here, I was struggling in ways that are difficult to put into words. I wasn’t sure what my future was going to look like, and I didn’t know if I had it in me to keep fighting. But the staff here met me where I was, showed me compassion when I needed it most, and reminded me that recovery is possible—even on the days when I couldn’t believe it myself. I especially want to recognize Mary, Josh, Brittany, Ifadel, Janina, Heather, Kevin, Brittany and Fredricko. The staff, including front desk, nurses, and counselors are all very friendly ,personable, and most importantly, CARING. I had the same issue with counselors as the previous review, but only because someone left and they had to fill that vacant position. That issue has been resolved and they couldn't have found a better person for the position. I feel like my new counselor cares just as much as the previous one and they are well experienced, coming from a previous addiction counseling position. Everytime I come in, I'm greeted by all and treated like I'm more than just an addict. If you have issues about something at any treatment center, it's usually because of your own actions and not doing whatever you're supposed to be doing on your end. Anyhow, when I was at that other place, I can't count the times I could not Dose because of the nurse calling off, the computer is down or they can't get in the safe etc. Having to go to work or back home, while starting to feeling horrible and of course that leads to going right back to those old habits. CCG has been through idk how many people in the 4 years I was there. They couldn't keep a front desk person, Testing person, counselors or a full time doctor. It was 3 months before I could get more take homes because there was no doctor. At the Institute I only witnessed one time when the computer was down but they were still dosing and getting it done. Plus multiple dosing windows so there's never a wait more than 5- 10 mins or less because multiple ppl are getting a month worth of take homes, which is rare. No need for a screen with a list that everyone has to keep checking and counting how many people are in front of them. Also, those groups are only used at other places to get as many people they can to write fake reviews, for either gift cards or food. Point being; if you want to be treated well, with good care and quick turn around time come here. Kelley Twyman 1 year ago Edit: I see a lot of negative comments about staff attitudes and I just want to mention that people misconstrued things. What might seem like an attitude is somebody who is not going to deal with being manipulated, etc. Addiction turns us into selfish beings and the staff is aware of that. Kyra for example, may seem rough but she deeply cares for the clients and for their sobriety. I know that she will put you in your place, and sometimes that is appropriate. Please remember, you will not recover if you keep the same mindset you had when you walked in. I've been here several times unfortunately, but everytime I come back, the medical team, staff, security- EVERYBODY welcomes me back without judgement. The people who work here are very special people. Ms Kyra, the head- tech is an amazing woman who constantly stands as an influence to women like me on what recovery can look like. Ms Lyn, though she WILL be on you like white on rice if you're messing around, she's still always there to listen and give you advice. Jamal, head of security, is patient and so are the other security guards- which is great because for a lot of people,(including me), we come in there with various levels of mental health issues and sometimes have bad days and lash out. This facility is ran by people who have been in recovery for years and know first hand how hard it is- especially after relapsing. The counselors are also well equipped with experience and knowledge, the groups are interesting, they allow you to smoke(!) and there's always resources for after care! I love Avery Road, I think it has its issues but the staff, counselors, security, etc make this place a wonderful and safe place to land after hitting rock bottom. I suggest this place to anybody struggling- you will not be disappointed. Remember- it only works if you work it ❤️ One thing I will admit too, is that sometimes nursing will make mistakes with meds. I have had this happen to me and it is very frustrating. That is the only real issue I have with Avery Road. They have a ton of clients and often only one or two nurses handing out meds. They needed to get his blood pressure under control and Rachel did figure out what he needed. She was a "STAR" nurse! She comforted him in between tests, told him upfront what was going on, and pushed the paperwork through to get him transported to Medstar. Enough cannot be said how great she was. When I arrived to the ER on July 7th my health and pain were priority to the ER triage nurse and doctor. I was brought back immediately and pain meds administered within 15mins of arriving. I later was admitted for 7 days, I was on 2 East and the entire time I felt nothing short of exceptional care from the nurses to the aids, and of course the doctors too. Emily Cunningham was the first therapist I tried at Brooklane and I had a good vibe on the first session. I've gone through several therapists and Emily is the first therapist I've had in years who I look forward to sessions with. I did have a negative experience with one of the psychiatrists and asked to transfer to someone else. The process only took an approval and I was put with someone else for my very next session. I had relapsed and they never gave up on me and called me bc they truly cared about my well being. And when I reached my rock bottom I had called them and they were able to help me get into a rehab that was suited for me. I was in the IOP program and with 9 different meeting throughout the week I had plenty of flexibility in my weekly schedule.
