The team of doctors and therapist work together to assure I get all my needs met. I don't agree with the negative feed abt Vesta...I've only had one child attend years ago n it was definitely doing my child justice..Now each child has to be treated differently depending there need..But the place picked the children up fter school no matter the area with in reason and drop them back home. They also took the children on trip an for those reasons my son use to look forward to going. My son is now 21years old n still talks abt this place.. I plan send my other son very soon this year.

Jon Hershfield and the OCD team provided me with exceptionally skilled treatment so I could return home to a significantly higher-quality, more productive, and happier life. I worked specifically with Jon, Molly, and Rebecca (the entire team is fantastic), and they are without a doubt the most knowledgeable, compassionate, intentional, and collaborative clinicians with whom I have ever worked over the course of my 30+ year journey with OCD. They educated me on my conditions and empowered me to build the skills and tools necessary to live with and effectively manage these chronic illnesses. They worked closely with my psychiatrist and social worker on my care team at the Retreat to create a holistic approach to recovery. They also ensured that I was discharged with a comprehensive plan to execute with my psychologist at home. I highly recommend them and am eternally grateful for their life-changing care.

I went to The Retreat at Sheppard Pratt experiencing severe depression, anxiety and OCD. I'd been to other facilities and had to wait in line for up to an hour or more for meds that were dolled out without any consideration for the patient. I also had psychiatrist's who would schedule virtually once a week. This was NOT the case at The Retreat. The staff there were awesome! Absolutely ALL of the staff there, especially the doctors and nursing staff, were extremely attentive and knowledgeable. It HONESTLY felt like they cared.
I literally cannot say enough great things about the OCD team, led by Jon Hershfield. They were tremendous! I met with Jon or one of his staff nearly every day I was there. Absolute pros! Thank you, guys!
The Retreat is a clean, friendly, attentive and professional place to go if you are experiencing mental health problems. THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH!

I spent 4 weeks at the Retreat at Sheppard Pratt last summer. I came in with horrible panic attacks and anxiety, especially around being in cars and transportation. When I arrived, I literally couldn’t be in a car for more than 10 minutes without the help of medication.
I was ultimately diagnosed with OCD and very very lucky to be treated by Jon Hershfield and his team including Melissa Mondich. I started exposure therapy the 2nd week. My exposures were around the triggers to my panic attacks like motion sickness. We drove in circles in the car with the music on loud, and the heat up way too high, while I read from my phone. At first I was exhausted and it was tough but it is pretty amazing how quickly this produced results and I saw myself growing stronger. I had so much support and encouragement by the staff and my peers in the program. This program was very well rounded. I also had yoga sessions with Leonora, Acupuncture with Trina, and training with Terry, all of which I miss very very much.
I went into the program being scared about driving 10 minutes away to a target and left the program and went to Greece to enjoy my regularly scheduled summer vacation and did not need any anxiety medication at all. I really can not recommend this experience enough. Also a massive thank you to Dr. Amara, my psychiatrist who oversaw my whole treatment and to the nursing staff especially Susan, Kate, and Talila!

Amatus Health as a company and organization is top notch in my experience. I go here, I have since December so it's been 6 months now. And while I like it here and everyone is so nice and kind. Everything moves slow. I understand they have other people and other paperwork being pushed through, I've just personally never been to a clinic that is this slow with process paperwork. Like every 30 days you're eligible for phasing up if you're doing good and everything looks good clean urines etc I've had clean Urines for almost 2 1/2 years and been here 6 months and STILL coming in twice a week. The last clinic I was at I had already gotten 2 weeks take homes by the time I was going on my 3rd month! So if paperwork could get processed faster this place would be great! Edit: I see a lot of negative comments about staff attitudes and I just want to mention that people misconstrued things. What might seem like an attitude is somebody who is not going to deal with being manipulated, etc. Addiction turns us into selfish beings and the staff is aware of that. Kyra for example, may seem rough but she deeply cares for the clients and for their sobriety. I know that she will put you in your place, and sometimes that is appropriate. Please remember, you will not recover if you keep the same mindset you had when you walked in.
I've been here several times unfortunately, but everytime I come back, the medical team, staff, security- EVERYBODY welcomes me back without judgement.
The people who work here are very special people. Ms Kyra, the head- tech is an amazing woman who constantly stands as an influence to women like me on what recovery can look like. Ms Lyn, though she WILL be on you like white on rice if you're messing around, she's still always there to listen and give you advice. Jamal, head of security, is patient and so are the other security guards- which is great because for a lot of people,(including me), we come in there with various levels of mental health issues and sometimes have bad days and lash out.
This facility is ran by people who have been in recovery for years and know first hand how hard it is- especially after relapsing. The counselors are also well equipped with experience and knowledge, the groups are interesting, they allow you to smoke(!) and there's always resources for after care!
I love Avery Road, I think it has its issues but the staff, counselors, security, etc make this place a wonderful and safe place to land after hitting rock bottom. I suggest this place to anybody struggling- you will not be disappointed. Remember- it only works if you work it ❤️
One thing I will admit too, is that sometimes nursing will make mistakes with meds. I have had this happen to me and it is very frustrating. That is the only real issue I have with Avery Road. They have a ton of clients and often only one or two nurses handing out meds. That is a hard job for anybody to keep track of, so I get it. But besides that, I love Avery Road.

On October 11, 2012, I made a vow to never, ever put another drop of alcohol into my mouth. I had, after 22 years of daily hard liquor intoxication, drunk myself into psychosis. I put myself in rehab the next day, and, eight days later, I was awarded a bed in Avery's 28-day in-house program. I had been 100% intoxicant-free for eight days. A Police Officer told me to pause outside the ARTC's entrance, and lay it all down, leave it outside on the sidewalk, go inside, and do exactly what the staff told me to do, and I would be all right. It was such a relief to obey someone for once, instead of fighting, and falsely and stubbornly thinking I knew what was best for myself. I did every worksheet, listened to every word in the excellent classes and did the things that they told me to do. I graduated after 28 days, knowing what I had to do to stay sober. I would never have known how to stay sober after leaving ARTC had the Counselors and Doctors not had taught me about how to live as a sober person, how to deal with cravings and urges to drink, etc. The people at Avery, from door to door, every person who worked there, were in the business of saving lives.
Today, I have been 100% intoxicant-free for twelve years. I have paid off every penny of the debt I incurred during the last two years of the active phase of my alcoholism, and the first year of my sobriety, including my Maryland and Federal Taxes, without begging, borrowing, stealing, or doing anything unethical or illegal. I have gotten back everything I lost: family, health, integrity, self-respect, the loyalty of friends and customers. I am the Sole Proprietor of my own IRS-registered Small Business, and I pay taxes on my income. I am debt-free. I never thought it would be possible, but striving to "do the next RIGHT THING", as my Sponsor used to say, has empowered me to climb out of that hole into which I had drunk myself.
I am FIERCELY SOBER. I owe it all to my Higher Power, and the smart, no nonsense staff at Avery.
I am so very grateful, because for me, quitting alcohol was a life-or-death matter. On the last day of my last binge, the Police made me look into a mirror. My lips and nailbeds were dark grey/blue. They kept me alive by keeping me awake.
Long live Avery Road Treatment Center, in Rockville, Maryland.

So for that reason I'm only giving 4 starts!
