The first i left early and didn’t get everything i needed, that’s on me. this time has been amazing. the groups are full of great information, the facilitators genuinely care and go out of their way to help, and the client care team is WONDERFUL. I own a fashion business, and I regularly have brand-new clothing that I cannot use due to sizing, incorrect orders, overstock, etc. Instead of letting perfectly good clothing go to waste, I’ve been donating these items to YWCA North Central Indiana so women and girls who need them can benefit. These are not old, worn-out clothes—they are BRAND-NEW, quality fashion items. For about a year, I have been allowed to drop these donations off. My husband will literally carry the bags inside the building and leave them where instructed. Because I run a business, I cannot always accommodate extremely limited or specific donation drop-off times, and this has never been an issue before. Today, I spoke with JOCELYN and explained this. I told her I’ve been donating this way for approximately a year and that my husband could bring the bags directly inside. I was NOT asking anyone to stop what they were doing and sort through the clothing. All I needed was for someone to receive the bags and put them to the side until the appropriate person was available. JOCELYN told me that she thought it would be better for me to FIND SOMEWHERE ELSE TO DONATE MY CLOTHES. So that is exactly what I will do. And honestly, the unfortunate part is that JOCELYN is not the person who would have benefited from these clothes. The women and girls receiving them would have. I’m sure many of them would have appreciated having access to brand-new clothing. I completely understand having policies and limited staffing. What I do not understand is turning away someone who has consistently donated brand-new merchandise for approximately a year when I wasn’t even asking anyone to process or sort the donation immediately. After supporting this organization for a year, being told by JOCELYN to simply find somewhere else to donate was extremely disappointing. I will gladly take my future donations to an organization that actually wants them and appreciates consistent community support. I had never been as depressed as I was in those few months and I have delt with depression almost my entire life. I really didn’t believe I could be helped, but I tried for my children’s sake as my oldest son had already lost his father to reckless decisions. Brandy saved my life, she has continuously encouraged me and never judged me even when most would have. She has not only been one of the best phycologists I have ever met, she has also been a good friend. She has helped to guide me in the right direction and been there through every up and every down I’ve had over this past 7 years, despite my many screw ups she has never made me feel as though I was just a mess, she really saved my life, I can not stress this enough. If you do the work on yourself and actually use the program and take the advice given, this place can and will help. Todd Buysse 4 years ago As of this writing I have a years experience with this location and program so will try and clarify things a bit. An important thing to understand is that each house is independent and ran by the current residents under guidelines set forth by its area chapter which in turn is governed by the state chapter then national program. Each house is run democratically by its residents with a persons power being in their vote. I feel most of the negative reviews I've heard are from those who relapsed or who routinely or egregiously violated rules and were kicked out. The only violations that allow for immediate expulsion are relapse, violence, or those of a potentially criminal nature. This program is not a good fit for everyone as it is more of a peer supported independent living type situation. It is not as rigidly governed as many halfway houses and is better suited for those comfortable in recovery and capable of living independently but still desiring some structure and guidance. As for Emyla specifically I would say it is a great location. It is near downtown with Leeper Park and the river nearly next door. The residents tend to be easy going and get along well. Even though I was court ordered I quickly realized this place has been helpful. In my case I'm learning more than just helpful tips to avoid the charge that brought me here. I wish I would've known about this place years ago. For me C.P.R. has been organized with my paperwork. They have been friendly, and personal, and a lot of the people I've met here I've enjoyed the friendship. I've seen people come here that clearly aren't ready to change, and they don't. They have bad attitudes the whole time, and they're rude to staff. It's sad, but you can't change anyone, you can provide them helpful tools though. The best part of this place?
