Billing was always an issue - they would say we owed money, so we would pay it, then they could contact us and process a refund because we "overpaid". Otherwise, we were very pleased. However I have been trying to reach them for a week now. Website says they are available 24/7 - however I have called EVERY number on their website repeatedly, as well as the number the "owner" provided in these comments, and there is never an answer or option to leave a message. I also submitted an appointment request form through their website and have not received a response. Not sure what is going on here. UPDATE: apparently this is a cell phone issue - NOT pine rest. Despite using my phone daily and having no issues making calls, for whatever reason, I had to put my cell phone on then off airplane mode and suddenly I was able to make calls to them. I own a fashion business, and I regularly have brand-new clothing that I cannot use due to sizing, incorrect orders, overstock, etc. Instead of letting perfectly good clothing go to waste, I’ve been donating these items to YWCA North Central Indiana so women and girls who need them can benefit. These are not old, worn-out clothes—they are BRAND-NEW, quality fashion items. For about a year, I have been allowed to drop these donations off. My husband will literally carry the bags inside the building and leave them where instructed. Because I run a business, I cannot always accommodate extremely limited or specific donation drop-off times, and this has never been an issue before. Today, I spoke with JOCELYN and explained this. I told her I’ve been donating this way for approximately a year and that my husband could bring the bags directly inside. I was NOT asking anyone to stop what they were doing and sort through the clothing. All I needed was for someone to receive the bags and put them to the side until the appropriate person was available. JOCELYN told me that she thought it would be better for me to FIND SOMEWHERE ELSE TO DONATE MY CLOTHES. So that is exactly what I will do. And honestly, the unfortunate part is that JOCELYN is not the person who would have benefited from these clothes. The women and girls receiving them would have. I’m sure many of them would have appreciated having access to brand-new clothing. I completely understand having policies and limited staffing. What I do not understand is turning away someone who has consistently donated brand-new merchandise for approximately a year when I wasn’t even asking anyone to process or sort the donation immediately. After supporting this organization for a year, being told by JOCELYN to simply find somewhere else to donate was extremely disappointing. I will gladly take my future donations to an organization that actually wants them and appreciates consistent community support. I want to take a moment to recognize the team at the Battle Creek VA Medical Center. Over the past year I decided to start using the VA for my healthcare. Like many veterans, I had heard different stories over the years, but my personal experience has been outstanding. From the very first appointment the process was smooth and professional. I was called in at the exact time my appointment was scheduled. A nurse came in within a couple minutes and walked me through how the VA system works and the services available. Shortly after that my doctor came in, reviewed my medical history, and immediately started coordinating follow up care. I have had several knee surgeries over the years, so we scheduled MRIs to take a closer look. What really stood out was how efficient everything was even before the appointment. The VA had already scheduled my blood work and knee X rays. I walked into the Battle Creek facility, signed in for blood work, waited about three minutes, and the nurse took care of everything in less than ten minutes. Then I walked down the hall for my X rays. Again, the entire process took less than ten minutes. Professional, friendly, and very efficient. After my appointment they also scheduled a vision exam. That experience was just as smooth. Any medications I needed were mailed to my house within days, and my glasses arrived within a couple weeks. The entire experience has been excellent, and I truly appreciate the people who make it happen every day. The team at the Battle Creek VA has been fantastic. Veterans deserve great care, and my experience here has shown me that there are people working hard every day to deliver it.
