Calo has been an incredible place of growth, healing, and connection. The staff genuinely care about each child’s emotional well-being and go above and beyond to create a supportive, family-like environment. Their approach helps kids feel safe, understood, and empowered to make real changes. I’ve seen tremendous progress, not just in behaviors, but in confidence, trust, and relationships. The structured routines, therapeutic activities, and emphasis on emotional growth set Calo apart from other programs. It’s clear that every staff member is invested in helping these kids succeed.

My daughter is currently attending CALO in Lake Ozark. First of all, the setting is absolutely beautiful. Most of the staff are truly amazing—caring, supportive, and dedicated to the students’ growth. As with any program, there are always a few individuals who could work a little harder, smarter, or with more kindness, but overall, the staff makes a huge difference. My daughter has made tremendous progress in some areas, while growth in others has been slower—but this is expected in such a complex journey. The therapists working with both students and families have been instrumental in helping us uncover and heal from past trauma. The parent retreats that the therapists run are wonderful and have helped us grow closer. One of the most unique and impactful aspects of CALO is the canine therapy program. Each girl has the opportunity to work with a Golden Retriever, and these dogs have proven to be a tremendous source of comfort and healing. They provide steady, nonjudgmental support and play a crucial role in helping with attachment challenges and anxiety. Unfortunately, the director for the teen girls has been the opposite of supportive. She has been consistently rude, dismissive, and unhelpful when it comes to assisting us and other parents in finding resources for life after CALO. This lack of professionalism and unwillingness to guide families through discharge planning directly undermines the progress the students make while in treatment. For a program that emphasizes lifelong healing, the director’s attitude is both shocking and disappointing, and it leaves parents feeling abandoned at one of the most critical stages of their child’s recovery. While we are grateful for the opportunities and healing that CALO has provided, families deserve leadership that is just as committed to the success of students after discharge as it is to their progress during treatment.

BHG Springfield has had its ups and downs the past year and a half I’ve been there. Recently, I’ve seen a significant improvement. For a while, it was an hour-two hour wait for dosing, which was tough with a job. But it’s been much smoother recently. I’ve always enjoyed the staff throughout my entire time as a patient. The golden rule has honestly been my moral compass in life, I believe it makes a world of a difference. I have a wonderful, empathetic counselor (all of them have been wonderful to me) and the nurses are sweet. The newer front desk lady has also been AMAZING too. There’s been a new director and she’s been nothing short of being lovely to me!. Prior to our new director, I had no idea who the director was, lol! It’s always nice for the team to know my name, despite the many patients that come for treatment. I don’t expect it, ever, but it’s just a simple act of kindness that is rare in my day to day. I used to dread coming here (mostly for the long wait and the discussions openly held in the waiting lobby, but I’ve learned to tune it out) but I haven’t had an issue recently. I will say I wish they took private health insurance— I pay out of pocket and it’s a dent, but that’s the price I signed up for my treatment. I have continued to live a happy and healthy life while on medicated assisted treatment. It’s allowed me to build my life while staying stable after a decade of OUD. In year one for a few months I was on a grant, which was a life saver, thanks to my counselor!! I don’t think grants are offered anymore, but I could be wrong. I can’t thank BHG South enough for giving me stability back into my life.

First initial visit today, Everyone's experience is different, but the entire staff was very polite and pleasant. They took time and answered every question I had. The front desk staff was amazing. The nurse and Doctor was also amazing. Other than the long initial visit wait time, no complaints from me so far.

Great place to get sober and stay off the streets. The only issue I have with the BHG here in springfield is the over pricing for treatment. I came from a bhg in okc and it is144 cheaper than here. Someone is taking advantage of people here. And in okc you have the option to either dose the pill form or the liquid. Sooo hmmm 🤔 but I don't think it's from the clinic itself. I believe the state of missouri has their hand in the cookie jar!

For the past 13 years, I have had the privilege of providing counseling services at Lakeland, and I truly love my job. The staff and children I work with make this place special, and I take great pride in the work we do to support children, teens, and their families. Every day, I walk into the facility with one goal - to make a positive impact on someone's life. I work hard, as do my colleagues, and I want to emphasize that the dedicated staff at Lakeland are not defined by the incidents that may be sensationalized in the media. Unfortunately, where there are children, there will always be those who seek to harm them, and no facility is immune to that reality. However, we remain committed to providing a safe, supportive and healing environment. It is important to recognize the meaningful and life-changing work being done here every day.

Recovery Chapel of Springfield, Missouri is a church and a ministry for people in addiction recovery. They run long-term sober living homes for men as well as a church that doubles as a healing center for community members. Recovery Chapel began in 2004 by a Chaplain who had just reached his 20-year sobriety anniversary. Today, they have 7 location
In 2012, at the age of 55 I was in a car wreck in which a local small town policeman ran a red light with no lights or siren and collided with my 2003 Mustang, resulting in my vehicle being completely totaled. I am not a street person, I have a bachelors degree in Business/Marketing and a teaching certification. For several years I had been a grocery merchandiser traveling around southwest Missouri calling on Walmart stores to build displays, put up advertising and just do various forms of merchandising within the stores, earning about $13 an hour. I only had liability insurance on my car and the insurance company for this small town refused to pay for my vehicle. Thus I lost my job, I was unemployed, unable to pay my rent and in the meantime I became completely bankrupt. As I had to have a car to do my job and I could not find any work where I could take the bus. I was bankrupt and unable to pay my rent and full of fear as to where I was going to end up.Many well educated, good people find themselves homeless due to misfortune and not necessarily . I had heard of Recovery Chapel, and being in recovery myself, I called Farris Robertson and he explained their program to me. How I could become a resident of RC for about $400 a month, including meals and receive Spiritual Guidance, and group support through group studies and individual counseling with Mr. Robertson and other volunteers that came in to deliver a message of hope. If you have ever found yourself totally helpless, financially destitute and with no idea where to turn, then RC is truly a God send. Many good men and women find themselves homeless, jobless and with no place to go, through no real fault of their own. I was not drinking or using drugs, I just got myself into a hopeless situation I had gone through a double bypass in 2009 so I was already struggling financially. I did have another heart attack in 2012 while living at RC and the staff and my friends helped me tremendously after I had 4 more stints put in my heart. At RC along with the encouragement, housing and food I received I also got some assistance in renting a car so I could again get a merchandising job. As I sit here in my own apartment (self sufficient through Christ) in southeast Springfield, with a nice dependable car in the parking lot, and a great part time job with CROSSMARK merchandising, it is hard to imagine that my life has been restored, or better yet, not just restored but renewed and I live a better quality life than I have since my 30's and I owe it all to God, Recovery Chapel, Farris Robertson, Terry St. Clair and then rest of the staff and the board of directors. Philippians 4:13 paraphrased; "All things are possible through Christ who strengthens me".
