I was treated with compassion and respect, and have a lot to report about Northbrook Behavioral Hospital.
Above all, the staff is top quality, some of the best of the best only. Medical care was above standard, and the staff truly make an impact on patients lives.
I stayed on the Center 1 Unit and it was constantly being cleaned. I felt anxiety and witnessed some disturbing and disruptive behaviors, but was well educated by the facility, and I was always kept safe as well.
To the best of my knowledge, Mental Health Technicians Ms. Tiffany, and Mr. Ty especially as well as all the others were very respectful and helpful, and introduced themselves and made us all feel very comfortable from the beginning to the end of the stay. I met every member of the team, including the newer interns and staff members who made me feel like a human with rights and dignity despite my mental health treatment. Confidentiality was always prioritized.
I was always attended to by the nursing team, and the maintenance and dining facilities were top-notch. I was able to choose music I enjoyed listening to during group therapy sessions and leisure time, and we always went outside for a good amount of time more than once a day at least.
The unit had an art room with a piano and high quality painting materials, and a Solarium with plants and included gardening groups.
The individual therapists were very competent and provided great help. My therapist was Franca, who initially convinced me to stay and gave resources that were relevant to my situation. The Substance Abuse counselors were also very helpful and I found their groups quite touching. Also, I was respectfully allowed to take care of my hygiene needs privately despite there being public showers.
Do not be afraid to come and get help at this place. I cannot promise you will get better, but if you are honest and humble, it will make a difference.
Thank you Northbrook staff! I did not mention everyone, but each staff member was truly helpful. I would love to exchange my gratitude to the facility for saving my life from serious suicidal thinking.
Feeling much better
Ms
