There was a strong focus on matching the right program and making sure everything was coordinated, which made the transition from out of state much more manageable. My first few weeks were streamlined, cohesive and well structured. Groups were held by positive experienced professionals who more than anything want to see the clients succeed in sobriety and achieve a better life. They treat you like adults not criminals and cater to your goals, personality and level of treatment. Good food, warm community and daily AA meetings and sponsorship availability. Transportation was on time and they were available to take you to appointments, interviews, etc. Housing was incredible and high quality (Clean, big, and modern amenities). It's almost impossible to come out of this program without having gained an amazing experience, therapy and sober support. The nurse Sydney is absolutely the sweetest person you'll ever meet. I went there over a year ago and and she remembered me and made sure my stay there was comfortable. Unfortunately I've stayed at quite a few other facilities and NEVER was treated with such respect and kindness that she treated me with. She deserves a raise lol! On the other hand..I made a very good friend in my time staying there..we kept in touch and we were both struggling. I was trying to be a good girlfriend and put my own health aside waiting waiting for him. I now know know that I need further assistance than just detox . He's not even. Being a decent human being/and/or being nice about it. I tried called the Sterling location 5 times where my friend is. She told me there is in IN FACT beds available but the person on the phone wasnt so friendly..almost demeaning. He said "just because there's beds available doesn't mean there's beds available". I was very confused...almost like he didn't want to help me save my life. And he was just annoyed to be answering the phone. He told me over and over in an annoyed and stern voice as I was in tears to call back at 9am. We delivered our baby on a very busy night, yet our entire stay was absolutely perfect. If your serious about your recovery, this is the place. It’s not just all about the medication, it’s about the staff as well. My counselor, Sharece T saved my life. She goes above and beyond the call of duty and treats people as an individual, not a group, because we’re all different. She really took the time to get to know me and get to the root of the problem and checks up regularly to see if everything’s going well. I’ve been to many places, doctors, meetings and rehabs. No one has ever understood me better, witch is very important in recovery so you can be treated accordingly. I finally see the light at the end of the tunnel. No judgement, they really just want to help and are good humans! Also, the way they go about treatment, I felt really cared about , from the 1st day. I need a higher level of treatment but I will be going to Outpatient there after.. I can't recommend this place enough. The night neuro team came in while I was having an episode, instead of just making sure I was medically stable they held my hand and reassured me that they were right next to me and I'd be ok- all at 3 in the morning! Shout out to Nurses Kim, Sam, Heather; all the rest of the nurses in Adolescents; Doctor Sarah Yavelberg and the Peds team; and Art Therapist Christiana and Child Life Specialist Jasdeep 🩷🩷! I definitely felt safe, taken care of, listened to, validated and understood during my hospitalization. Additionally, the place is very clean, aesthetically appealing, and well-designed. They changed sheets as often as requested, even multiple times a day. People ask why I insist on traveling the hour distance to New Brunswick for emergencies, and this is why!
