I felt welcomed and the staff is great especially Kelly, she goes above and beyond for the patients. The doctors and therapist helped me stabilize my meds.The classes were great too i learned different ways to cope and retrain my brain to start good habits to replace the bad. As an addict I felt like I was somewhere I could relate to my issues that not everyone can understand. Coming out of a toxic marriage that led to my addiction and mental health it was good to be somewhere different and around new people to get away from my usual triggers and start to take the first step to recovery and living a healthy life. From the moment I walked through the doors, the front office staff greeted me with kindness and dignity. The nurses were compassionate and attentive, the recovery coaches and counselors truly listened, and the education team made learning feel meaningful again. My therapist was nothing short of life-changing—she helped me dig deeper and start healing in ways I never thought possible. Even the cafeteria staff made an impact. They didn’t just serve meals—they served encouragement with every plate, and their warmth stayed with me daily. Because of Julian F. Keith, I began to believe in myself again. When you’re dealing with things that aren’t visible on the outside, it can feel awkward explaining why certain parts of life just don’t function the way they used to. That’s not an easy thing to put into words. What stood out to me was that I didn’t feel rushed. The staff took the time to listen and ask thoughtful questions instead of assuming they already understood the situation. That matters more than people realize. When you’re navigating something complex — especially involving cognitive or executive functioning challenges — being heard is half the battle. The environment itself was calm and professional. Not flashy, not overwhelming — just steady. And sometimes steady is exactly what you need. Vocational rehabilitation is not a magic wand. It’s a process. But this visit felt like a step in the right direction rather than another bureaucratic hoop to jump through. I left feeling a mix of realism and cautious hope — which, honestly, is better than walking out feeling dismissed. If you’re considering going, especially for support with challenges that aren’t obvious on the surface, it’s worth the conversation. The VA as a whole is a joke, and the providers are limited. It seems the non-medical staff often show up to collect a check and the PTO for government holidays. Getting any VA facility to answer a phone is next to impossible. When they do, you certainly have the wrong extension, department, clinic, etc. I have found my team to be extremely responsive to the secure messaging however. I went through about 6 primary care Dr, and several mental health providers before I landed where I am. I have since moved out of state and will travel to keep my current provider team. The three months that he spent at Momentum provided just the right mixture of support, insight and challenge to help him channel his energies in a positive direction. His therapist, Joe, was compassionate and effective, and helped motivate our son to reach for more than he thought possible. He left Momentum with a very positive attitude about himself and his possibilities. He has just started a ‘transition’ program where he is utilizing the lessons learned at Momentum to carve out his new life. Momentum is a very fine program with a dedicated, caring and skilled staff - we can highly recommend it! My son is not pleased at all, but we will have to wait and see if they "connect" in February.
