Live or die, that was my choice. I chose to live and to enter Pavillon for help in 2010. I can honestly say that it was the best and most important decision I have ever made because Pavillon was instrumental in saving my life. I attended the primary and extended care programs. The staff's knowledge of addiction, experience, sincerity and personal care built trust, hope and faith. Leaving Pavillon with a plan designed to further my recovery was a tremendous help. Pavillon's alumni resources are invaluable. Meetings, workshops and opportunities for service are just a few.
I will be eternally grateful to the staff at Pavillon and their mission for helping to keep me sober for more than 14 years.

After reading some of the misguided comments directed at Dr. Boppana, I felt it necessary to add a counterpoint. I’m so glad to have been assigned to this outstanding physician. Although his personal inclination is to not make much eye to eye contact, he is very attentive to what is being said by redirecting his focus away from the speaker. In so far as putting in a Bluetooth device while the patient is still speaking, this is in order to proceed directly into making the necessary consults in order to address the issues being described to him in real time. I was personally helped by his calling of no less than three people in order to accommodate my needs. Thank you Dr. Boppana.

RE: A "edit" to my post-
Today we learned that Dr Carter is retiring at the end of this month....a day I knew would eventually come, but had hoped would be a few more years away.... to see him 20 years +, it was emotional and very sad news😢. We were told a "Dr. Lee who is a good doctor, and younger" wI'll be taking Dr. Carter's position the first of January. My son is not pleased at all, but we will have to wait and see if they "connect" in February.
At any rate, with new management at Family Preservation, and all staff changes, and lack of staff, my "5 star rating" may be much less very soon.

| CooperRiis is a residential treatment program for adults with addiction and mental health disorders located in Asheville, North Carolina. It acknowledges the interconnectedness of these issues through a comprehensive approach. CooperRiis is a residential treatment program for adults with addiction and mental health disorders located in Asheville, N | Treatments Programs Payment Options | I’m writing the review I wish I could have read when I was researching residential programs and deciding if I could do it, and where I should go. I was at CooperRiis in Asheville (not The Farm) earlier this year. My experience is as a cisgender, queer, white, fat, disabled woman who is both a lifelong mental health patient and a therapist. No residential program is easy or fun, but within that context, I had a shockingly good experience at CRA and I’m so glad I went.
Staff:
The staff are absolutely wonderful. Every person in every role is so kind, compassionate, and committed to supporting each resident. The clinicians (therapists, nurses, psychiatrist) are skilled and engaged, as are the residential staff, recovery coaches, care coordinators, and Wellness Director.
Structure:
I found the structure of the weekdays extremely helpful; time is split between individual sessions, a variety of groups, optional wellness activities like group walks and art, and down time. The weekends are tougher, with no individual sessions or groups on Saturday and only two groups on Sunday. After such an intense week of treatment, having a break is kind of nice, but also feels a bit like whiplash and gives you a lot of time with your thoughts. That being said, the residential staff are so kind and engaged. They provide several activities throughout the weekend (and weekday evenings) to build a sense of community and offset that whiplash feeling. They are always eager to talk with you one-on-one if you need to, and these checks-ins were validating and helpful.
Autonomy:
While any residential program requires rules that aren’t a good fit for everyone, the staff at CRA are as accommodating as they can safely be of individual needs. Having the ability to keep my phone, go outside when I wanted to, eat when I wanted to, and attend the groups I wanted to helped me feel I had some control over my own experience there.
Identity:
I expressed my needs and concerns to every member of my care team in my first few days there, and these were respected and accommodated. The experience was not perfect and there were a few upsetting things that occurred while I was there. I met with leadership twice to express my concerns, and they were receptive, kind, responsive—even appreciative. I experienced zero fatphobia there, my trauma and neurodivergence were honored, and I felt much safer there as a queer person and woman than I expected to. When incidents did occur, staff took them seriously. There’s lots of queer and trans staff members. I wore a mask in common spaces throughout my stay and this was respected with no weird pushback or judgment. I was the only person who wore one, but they are strict about staff staying home when sick, and the other residents were kind about my request that they let me know if they felt sick.
Food and Space:
The food was SO good. There’s a big salad bar at every lunch and dinner, and multiple options for entrees and sides at every meal. Seriously, I was shocked by how good it was; there were only three meals in 30 days that I didn’t enjoy. I am a pescatarian and there were always good choices for me. As a bonus, the kitchen staff are so kind, know all the residents’ names, check in about needs and preferences when they meet you, and are happy to answer questions about the food any time. I also appreciated the 30+ varieties of tea available along with coffee and a daily flavored water. The entire space is clean and well cared for, with lots of comfy places to sit and read, journal, etc.
In summary, if you need this level of care, I recommend CRA. Even as a therapist who has been in outpatient care for decades, I left with some coping skills and insights I didn’t have before. It was hard work and you definitely get out of it what you put into it. If I need residential care again the future, I will go back to CRA, and I’d recommend it to my loved ones.

I am grateful for the services Appalachian has provided over the past 6-7 years for my patients. Yes, they are understaffed and they are overworked, but they are also the only organization available in our area for people with mental health crises. There is a severe statewide and national problem of inadequate mental health services. Without Appalachian, our community would be in far worse shape, because there is nothing else like it available in this whole region. Despite the time it takes for some services, I believe they literally save lives.

I have been involved with focus for going on 2 years now. I have had nothing but a positive experience from the beginning. The staff have always been super nice and helpful. We started out with the nurse practitioner Sonya and she was amazing. Understandably, she felt my child had far more issues than she could help with (I adopted a child with MANY mental issues so I understood completely). She referred us to Dr. Igbul who was also amazing. At the time for one of her appointments, he was out of town and we got scheduled with Dr. Fairchild. She is absolutely nothing short of amazing. She has helped so much and has answered questions I have had for years that nobody has been able to answer in 10 years. I will stick with Dr. Fairchild forever. I can tell you the bad was not only exaggerated but most just someone salty and spreading total BS.
There are no rodents and I've never been to a house that had zero bugs not even a fly before I got here, not even my father's house. Ok so these 2 floor some with a upper smoking/ lounge deck are nice nice! 4 bedroom 3 full double sink bathrooms , two with walk-in shower , I bath / shower and a half bath by living room. It's fully stocked with any pans coffee pot anything you need.
The staff are some of the nicest ppl and you absolutely get to know them.
You are treated pretty much how you treat them. Just be kind!
Midwood center was the one I went to and the staff there are always awesome. If you need something just speak up, I've seen ppl come through and expect everyone to be mind readers.
I would list everyone I love at Harmony but I'm horrible with names but there are standouts.
Christine, Crystn (sik). Byron,Lisa, Miss Gail
( Amber always pushing DBT therapy 😬) Bobby, the tech who's name escapes me that calls everyone "Big Dog)
And Lastly but firstly Miss Peggy who is the sweetest person I've ever met and she saved my life just by getting to know me calling my phone to talk to someone else. She had my back and actually drove to Salvation Army and helped me get insurance, talked me into Salvation Army in first place and bought my broke ass two packs of smokes
She is absolutely a gift from God and deserves to be the highest paid at Harmony!
But I'm betting she would do it for free
No fear y'all this place is absolutely what you make it.
