I love these people!!! Been going there for 5 years. Besides a few NP changes, it's been the same people. Georgeann is my therapist, and would move heaven and earth to help me, and has. Dr. Agarwal is my psychiatrist. She seems a bit stern (she has to be in her field), but after she gets to know you she's very sweet and considerate. Finally, my adorable NP, Amber. I have a rare medical condition and the first time I met her, I told her that my colon was hanging out my abdominal wall. (They actually were.) She was a big advocate in helping me get my surgery during the height of the pandemic. She has taken the time to learn about my condition, and goes above and beyond.

So I Went through Edgewater Which is now ARIA same staff it is a phenomenal program with phenomenal people. They introduced me to narcotics anonymous which is a program. I never had tried before and just recently got two years clean. They sent me up for the beginning to stay clean. It is the only place I’ve ever seen where when you get to go to meetings you’ll see the staff there and they treat you like family not a number. I also used to work for the same program, which is ARIA and both experiences were phenomenal. I highly recommend this if you want to change your life it changed mine. I went in broken with a backpack of dirty clothes and no options. They gave me resources and taught me a new way to live within that two years of me being clean, I’ve got my own place on car own tags on insurance living like an adult and it’s all thanks to the beginning from what you taught me

SROs truly gave me a safe friendly environment to grow in my recovery.. it's a drug free environment with friendly management and staff.. that holds me accountable with random drug screens which Im happy to take. Its giving me back my life adulting..Not enough privacy and too much freedom in my early recovery didn't work well with me in my past.. I am blessed to live here along side many other recovering addicts.. I have also been blessed to see the parking lots fill up with cars and friends move back to their home towns or new apartments.. The opportunity to heal here gives me hope to continue on my recovery journey. We do recover!

I was a long time patient with the VA hospital in Chilliocthe OH. 2007 til 2026 when I moved to Lexington KY. My experience with the VA hospital in Lexington KY has me already looking to relocate back to Chilliocthe OH. The nurse practitioner I was assigned to immediately began chastising and berating me for not electing to do radiation therapy. This was in the first 30 seconds of my appointment. She then began to describe in vivid detail how my cancer will spread across my face if I don't do radiation therapy. I am beyond appalled that a so called medical professional would stoop to using scare tactics and personal intimadation to pressure me to take a treatment plan I have already told 4 doctors I don't want to go down that path. I am seriously considering moving back to Ohio.

The complaints about the program from family could potentially be from their master manipulator residents who are looking for a way to justify leaving. I know, I was one accept everyone was done listening by the time i went. The complaints from Alumni,,, Everything changes and at 2:30 a.m., they are asleep, leave them alone. The building isn't supposed to be comfortable. It's not the Hampton. It's a starting point for Recovery. It's a place if personal discovery, acceptance and overcoming our self-induced crises with like minded people, staffed by those who did it already. It's not for everyone, but it could be, if you want it. There will never be a perfect rehab. It's addiction treatment. The help is there, again, if you want it and will get up everyday and get it.

So my situation was something you don't typically plan for to say the least went in for water retention and a cough that just wouldn't go away, and ended up staying almost a full week. The staff in the ACHF wing were amazing to me and my family they made sure we knew what was going on and made sure I was taken care of while I was bed ridden for half my stay. Sheena and Cindy were some of the kindest people I've ever dealt with in a hospital. Cindy even took time to sit down and explain the meds I was going to be taking once I left which helped us understand everything before leaving. Since going back for more tests and other labs the staff has been helpful all the way around definitely grateful for that. Also the financial aspect was super scary but they helped set me up with a assistants program and they helped cover a lot of the expenses and helped with a payment plan that worked for me.

I stayed here for a week in late October-early November. I really like some of the staff like Alex, Cheryl, Aiden, and Emily. There was another really sweet younger girl. Her name started with an N I think, I wish I could remember. I did like April, although some people thought she was mean. I liked the toughness of her. A little discipline can go a long way for troubled youth lol. I actually did like the school part of the day. Instead of tablets, I liked to read. I still want to finish Narnia (thank you alex you’re cool) !! I doubt anyone who sees this will remember me, and i’m not writing this for that reason anyways. I’m writing it just to close that chapter in my life. Not to be overly graphic or to dump my trauma onto google for the whole world to see, but I did go in on attempted suicide. I don’t believe that being at River Park made me any happier. In a way, it brought me closer to my life outside of the hospital. It’s like being slapped in the face with reality. When I woke up at Cabell hospital and realized where I was off to next (RPH 3E lol) I sobbed!! No phone, no piercings, no cute clothes?? How can a teen survive?!? But I did. I’m glad I did. Some of my fellow patients would call me an angel, or “memaw.” (IFYKYK) Well, I’m not an angel! I’m a 17 year old girl who was struggling really badly. I thought that maybe if I treated the patients younger than me with respect and kindness, that they maybe weren’t used to, that I could change their lives even a little bit. Onto my actual stay there, lol, I know I talk a lot! But again, this is more for me than you!! Sorry not sorry. I once asked for a staff to talk to, I was crying and missed my family a whole lot, and no one came to talk to me. That’s a major issue!!! That was my biggest complaint! And once when my family came to visit, they started around 15 minutes late. Those are my only real issues, you know? I don't see River Park as the place to come to fix all your issues, but it definitely is a start! It was great for me to be away from the toxicity of social media. I wish the place was way more energetic, way happier. I wish the staff would do a little group stretch! I led those when I was there. That was fun. More art!! Maybe even theatre related stuff? Idk i’m a nerd. So anyways, don’t think you’re sending your kid to River Park and they’re gonna come back squeaky clean. They won’t. They’re gonna smell bad, they’re gonna be sad, hurt, angry, happy, ALL the things and emotions. Just understand that your kid was in a mental facility. It’s gonna take some time to get back what was once there, or to find something that maybe never was. Just be KIND. Be understanding. Same with the staff. Imagine how scared you’d be at 11-17 in that situation. When I attempted, I didn’t think i’d ever be sitting playing Jinga with random 14 year olds. None of us ever thought we’d be in that situation. Take it easy on your patients, on your kids. Okay, okay, i’ll stop yapping now !! (if a staff is reading this who ever met me, you know how I talk lol) I’d like to thank River Park for giving me a chance to get away from my phone, to get a reset. I’d also like to thank Cabell Hospital for saving my life. I hope the next time I see someone from RPH 3E, it’s at a Walmart or something!! Or at church. Jesus loves you, I love you!!! P.S thanks for trick or treating on the 4th floor - Sarah from Oct-Nov ‘25 with the long black hair (it’s short and red now!!)

I’ve been going to Prestera for 3 years. Even when I moved to Parkersburg I continued my treatment at Prestera in point pleasant because of the quality of treatment I receive there. My counselor Bethany is absolutely amazing, the person that did my intake was so informative and my psychiatrist Jaime that prescribes my meds is the best psychiatrist I have ever had in the 12 years of treatment that I have had from several different places. She evaluated by asking key questions and engaged with explaining things to me in a way I could understand. She interacted with back and forth conversation and really put a lot of thought into selecting medication that would help me. She took the time to listen to all the meds I had tried in the past that failed and I am so grateful for the effort and level of care she provided to me. The building is old but they are doing renovations on it. But seriously it’s not the building that matters it’s the staff and the quality of care to really help individuals with a workable plan of treatment. They are on the ball and fakers beware. You won’t fool these professionals they know their stuff. Best care I have ever gotten. I’m sad to be moving out of state and I hope I can find a mental health team as dedicated as this one but if it wasn’t for them helping me lay the groundwork for my life I wouldn’t be moving ahead into a functional future. I’m getting married. When I started with Prestera 3 years ago I would have never imagined I could grow this much or move forward in life to this extent to have such a bright future ahead. Thank you to the Prestera team for helping me heal.

The staff at Floyd Simantel have always gone out of their way to provide me with excellent service. I have been being treated there for almost 5 years and in that time I have been able to make great strides in creating a life worth living. Learning how to live and deal with my mental illness as well as my former substance use and abuse was not something they could do for me, I had to do the work, I had to show up, I had to be honest with myself. They helped me to learn a better way of life. Reading the other review posted here, to me, is pathetic. They are not magicians who can cure you with a wave of their hand. Rebuilding a new and better life for yourself takes work, which includes making plans and taking action, is what they have helped me to do, but I was ready and wanted what they had to offer. And I have always been treated with respect and dignity in the manner with which I have treated them. My treatment has been totally outpatient so treatment is ongoing.
