SROs truly gave me a safe friendly environment to grow in my recovery.. it's a drug free environment with friendly management and staff.. that holds me accountable with random drug screens which Im happy to take. Its giving me back my life adulting..Not enough privacy and too much freedom in my early recovery didn't work well with me in my past.. I am blessed to live here along side many other recovering addicts.. I have also been blessed to see the parking lots fill up with cars and friends move back to their home towns or new apartments.. The opportunity to heal here gives me hope to continue on my recovery journey. We do recover!

I was in for outpatient total hysterectomy. Dr Brumfield, was doing my surgery. The staff that he had during surgery was absolutely wonderful. They made me feel comfortable and relaxed. While I was in recovery, all their nurses & staff were wonderful, as well. For some reason, I was scared. I kept telling them I was scared & they tried to comfort me. Finally, after seeing my husband, I was a lot more comfortable and able to relax to come From being under the anesthesia. I would suggest this medical care center, to anyone. The staff was top-notch, friendly, caring, understanding, willing, and patient!!! I had a great experience. Thank you, St Marys Medical Center. Thank you, Dr Brumfield. Thank you, staff!

My husband spent four weeks in St. Mary's following a cardiac arrest event that nearly took him out. The ICU staff at St. Mary's was incredible during the critical part of my husband's care. He was on full life support for about 4 days, and the staff who supported him - and his family - could not have been more professional or compassionate. He ended up going to the 4th floor once the critical phase was over, and the staff there were equally amazing.
My husband can be a tough patient, but the entire staff at St. Mary's handled him with kindness and a great deal of patience. I was surprised that he was airlifted to West Virginia out of Eastern Kentucky since I thought he'd be sent to Lexington, but I can't imagine he could have received any better care than he did at St. Mary's Hospital. Thank you - you all walk around with invisible wings!

The five stars are for Dr Joseph (Chief of Dental Services) at this facility. He is a compassionate and meticulous dentist who has provided me with excellent dental care. In addition, I highly praise his staff who also deliver superb care. This facility has many others who are exemplary and always provide friendly caring service.
However, if possible I would rate other clinical concerns with a ZERO.
My experience as an inpatient, as well as, my time (over 20 years) as a physician at this facility has shown me an ongoing issue with suboptimal/horrible quality of some inpatient beds. This most certainly has a negative impact on quality of patient care. Over the years I brought this issue up to the HVAMC hierarchy with minimal positive response.
However, the other concerns at least over the past nine months have been :
1. ineptitude of phone service. Operators are pleasant, but wait time for an initial answer to my call is amazingly slow or in some cases NO ANSWER at all.
2. Most importantly of all, the horrendous multitude of problems with referral to a non-VA specialist. This has been very apparent to me since early 2025. I have had the misfortune of requiring numerous urgent referrals to a number of different specialists. All of these referrals met with untimely delays in attempting to get an appointment and generally not always getting a specialist who I have confidence in regarding my well-being.
3. HVAMC needs to hire or contract an ENT physician (at least part time).
4. The overall VA work force (nationally) has been severely diminished and likely will be further depleted which will impact negatively veterans overall quality of care. I have spoken with numerous veterans who are voicing these concerns.
5. Despite what you are hearing, there are ongoing plans to ‘cut’ or eliminate disability payments to qualified veterans by Congressional Budget Committee. This is outrageous
especially since it is being conducted by a vast majority of congressional members who never served a single day in uniform. Once ‘they’ start cutting benefits you can be assured that other benefits will be eliminated as well. It is of paramount importance that state representatives receive veterans feedback on this.

The complaints about the program from family could potentially be from their master manipulator residents who are looking for a way to justify leaving. I know, I was one accept everyone was done listening by the time i went. The complaints from Alumni,,, Everything changes and at 2:30 a.m., they are asleep, leave them alone. The building isn't supposed to be comfortable. It's not the Hampton. It's a starting point for Recovery. It's a place if personal discovery, acceptance and overcoming our self-induced crises with like minded people, staffed by those who did it already. It's not for everyone, but it could be, if you want it. There will never be a perfect rehab. It's addiction treatment. The help is there, again, if you want it and will get up everyday and get it.

I may have not went through this program but I am friends with everyone that is going through right now. This is where my AA home group is "STW" every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday at 6 pm. These meetings have helped me grow in my recovery and has helped me find a lot of good friends.

I have been a patient of Julie Thompson for about 2 years now at the Huntington WV location.
Julie Thompson is absolutely top of the line when it comes to health care. I have never had a provider that is so genuinely invested in my health and overall well-being. She truly cares and treats patients from the heart. She does a wonderful job explaining diagnoses as well as any medications she may prescribe. She ensures that all of my questions are answered adequately before I leave the office. Her bedside manner and personality are the best in health care. She truly makes every one of her patients feel like family. I am blessed to have her as my primary care physician, and I would recommend her to anyone without hesitation!

I stayed here for a week in late October-early November. I really like some of the staff like Alex, Cheryl, Aiden, and Emily. There was another really sweet younger girl. Her name started with an N I think, I wish I could remember.
I did like April, although some people thought she was mean. I liked the toughness of her. A little discipline can go a long way for troubled youth lol.
I actually did like the school part of the day. Instead of tablets, I liked to read. I still want to finish Narnia (thank you alex you’re cool) !! I doubt anyone who sees this will remember me, and i’m not writing this for that reason anyways. I’m writing it just to close that chapter in my life.
Not to be overly graphic or to dump my trauma onto google for the whole world to see, but I did go in on attempted suicide.
I don’t believe that being at River Park made me any happier. In a way, it brought me closer to my life outside of the hospital. It’s like being slapped in the face with reality. When I woke up at Cabell hospital and realized where I was off to next (RPH 3E lol) I sobbed!!
No phone, no piercings, no cute clothes?? How can a teen survive?!? But I did. I’m glad I did. Some of my fellow patients would call me an angel, or “memaw.” (IFYKYK)
Well, I’m not an angel! I’m a 17 year old girl who was struggling really badly. I thought that maybe if I treated the patients younger than me with respect and kindness, that they maybe weren’t used to, that I could change their lives even a little bit.
Onto my actual stay there, lol, I know I talk a lot! But again, this is more for me than you!! Sorry not sorry.
I once asked for a staff to talk to, I was crying and missed my family a whole lot, and no one came to talk to me. That’s a major issue!!! That was my biggest complaint! And once when my family came to visit, they started around 15 minutes late.
Those are my only real issues, you know?
I don't see River Park as the place to come to fix all your issues, but it definitely is a start! It was great for me to be away from the toxicity of social media. I wish the place was way more energetic, way happier. I wish the staff would do a little group stretch! I led those when I was there. That was fun. More art!! Maybe even theatre related stuff? Idk i’m a nerd.
So anyways, don’t think you’re sending your kid to River Park and they’re gonna come back squeaky clean. They won’t. They’re gonna smell bad, they’re gonna be sad, hurt, angry, happy, ALL the things and emotions. Just understand that your kid was in a mental facility. It’s gonna take some time to get back what was once there, or to find something that maybe never was. Just be KIND. Be understanding. Same with the staff. Imagine how scared you’d be at 11-17 in that situation. When I attempted, I didn’t think i’d ever be sitting playing Jinga with random 14 year olds. None of us ever thought we’d be in that situation. Take it easy on your patients, on your kids.
Okay, okay, i’ll stop yapping now !! (if a staff is reading this who ever met me, you know how I talk lol) I’d like to thank River Park for giving me a chance to get away from my phone, to get a reset. I’d also like to thank Cabell Hospital for saving my life. I hope the next time I see someone from RPH 3E, it’s at a Walmart or something!! Or at church. Jesus loves you, I love you!!!

Lifehouse has definitely saved my life, before I was so melancholic and depressed, I wallowed in self pity and regret, but after programming with my brothers and being apart of this fellowship I've become more outspoken, more caring, open-minded and understanding. I would definitely recommend Lifehouse if you want to change your life but don't know how. Lifehouse is a family, it is a home, and they will help you to succeed if you're willing to help yourself.

The UTC is such an amazing facility that I have ever been too. The staff there is amazing, not to mention how they go out of their way to help those who in need. I can honestly say that the UTC has actually saved my life and I am extremely grateful for everyone that has taking the time to help me build the skills needed to help me have whatever a normal life is. I successfully completed this program twice and I will say the counseling is amazing and the some of the staff have great hearts and make it the best that they can. Upon reading some of the past reviews, I am floored by these allegations. I am one of the individuals that were accused of sleeping with a staff member and I don’t appreciate the false accusations and company negligence to put this at rest; rather, it must have seemed like a better idea to put in a review without anybody to defend themselves. Which would lead people to believe that J is a bad person and that this place should have a bad reputation. He was one of the best BHTS period. And I’m going to leave it at that. False accusations go a long way and are unprofessional and can lead people in the wrong direction. When I stumbled, he was the ONLY one that brought me back with open arms, but with anybody wanting to get clean and STAY clean- this is your place!! LOVE & GRATITUDE

I was in PHP for three weeks.
A staff member had sex with clients. Staff member J***** had sex with a client while I was there. Found out from staff it wasn’t the first allegation at the place, he sent messages to multiple females just in the time I was there, and he had been fired from his previous position for the same thing.
I joined being told it was two to a room, but they installed a bunk bed and shoved three people in a room. The rooms were small for two people, then they shoved in three.
The sales team in Florida promised was more than the place actually did. They couldn’t look into autism like they promised.
They routinely didn’t have enough staff so they just skipped small groups and did only large ones (30+). Sometimes we’re were just left alone while at the living place.
Staff didn’t communicate with each other. The night staff didn’t know I existed for three days, so I never did breathalyzer. The. Again, they often didn’t have working ones or tips, so they just skipped. The answer to questions was usually go ask someone else.
Buildings were in bad shape. Broken windows for the entire time I was there. Electrical didn’t work in another, to the point the AC only worked when the stove was on. Most of the driers didn’t work. Stuff leaked and there was obvious after damage.the maintenance ticket link didn’t go anywhere. Told staff repeatedly, but nothing happened. Several van doors couldn’t be opened from the inside.
Food deliveries were sporadic and very insufficient. Never saw a fresh vegetable the entire time I was there. I saw bananas and a small bag of apples on my last week.
My counsler, T*****, was awesome. Can’t say good enough things about him. He deserves to work in a much better place than this.

I love these people!!! Been going there for 5 years. Besides a few NP changes, it's been the same people. Georgeann is my therapist, and would move heaven and earth to help me, and has. Dr. Agarwal is my psychiatrist. She seems a bit stern (she has to be in her field), but after she gets to know you she's very sweet and considerate. Finally, my adorable NP, Amber. I have a rare medical condition and the first time I met her, I told her that my colon was hanging out my abdominal wall. (They actually were.) She was a big advocate in helping me get my surgery during the height of the pandemic. She has taken the time to learn about my condition, and goes above and beyond.

I'm a 2013 Graduate. The Rea is an absolutely phenomenal recovery home for women. Fantastic program. I couldn't recommend it more. All of my needs were met and I was taught how to live again.
