They took away so much of the fear I was carrying and reminded me that I wasn’t facing recovery alone. The compassion, patience, and encouragement I received from everyone at Renfrew changed my life. Every staff member genuinely wants to see their patients heal, and that level of dedication is something I’ll never forget. Because of Renfrew, I have a healthier relationship with food, and more importantly, I have my life back. I will always be grateful for everything they did for me. The therapists were wonderful and the group therapy sessions they led fostered a healing environment that focused on developing connections with other group members. The groups blended psychoeducation and connection in a very skillful way that did not feel contrived but felt very nurturing and loving. I really liked that the site director carefully selects the individual therapist that is assigned to each patient depending on the personalities of both the therapist and the patient. The site director truly cares about the clients and helped and fought against insurance companies to help individuals stay in treatment. Their support staff, therapists and ancillary providers all rallied around me. I was supported, encouraged and never felt forced. My time here unfolded organically. Im not going to give you a play by play or some incredible testimony because my story is still going strong but I've come a very long way and I 💯 give my counselor, Susan, alot of credit for sticking by me even bk in the beginning when I would be nasty and childish towards her and ill never forget when she told me that she was just waiting for me to be ready. * full disclosure im a garbage head and at the time I needed rehab terribly. And she was so patient and calm n it drove me nuts. Until one day, I walked into her office and said im ready. And from that chair in her office I left for rehab right away thanks to a combined effort of the staff, Will a former employee but mainly through her approach over months. I've had several wonderful things happen since then but most importantly I finally won my 3 year battle with CPS and gained joint custody of my son back. Now, don't get it twisted, I am far from a shiney happy person now. I've got major struggles right now but ever since that day she can't get rid of me off her caseload. Mainly because secretly im her favorite.😄 but i won't let them switch me because Susan really does care about her clients and I am sure of it for many reasons. It was not an easy fix but they made several attempts in the ER to help me obtain immediate relief. Once on the unit the room was clean. I would have preferred more instructions and explanations but still, the medical staff was competent. Every space was clean. Hospital food is Hospital food. I wasn't there to eat. This problem was new to me so I really didn't understand what was happening. But over all, I believe the staff worked to resolve my presenting issue and prepare me to go home. The facility is cozy and kept very clean. There is a smart tv in every room as well as in the lounge/common area which is set up like a living room. I found the groups helpful. There are 3 hour long groups you can attend but don’t have to and either an AA or NA speakers that comes every night for an hour long meeting. I liked that Sunrise is a smaller facility, having room for about 20 patients. This made it easier to open up and share. You are able to go outside for fresh air or to smoke anytime except during group time. I have absolutely nothing negative to say about Sunrise Detox. Thank you to all the staff! You all are amazing!! Never been to detox before but the people who work there actually care about you and want you to get better. It only works if you are ready though. The food was amazing everyday, the counselors are there to help you, and the doctors/nurses want what’s best for you. I will 100% be going back there one day to speak to the patients to show them that recovery is possible. They also help you with finding resources after being discharged.
