I was at a very low point in my life, not wanting to be alive anymore. Embark was a very nice place. 99% of the staff were very kind and caring. The facility was very nice, and the food was pretty good. I didn't like being there, but looking back it wasn't too bad. I was transferred to a long term facility after 2 months at Embark. That is where I entered the world of The Troubled Teen Industry in Utah. I was not placed at one of the embark facilities there, rather an ROP program. But, it's important to know every single facility in Utah is BAD. Embark at the Poconos or one of their other locations far away from Utah is the exception. Embark at the Poconos was like a vacation compared to the other places I was sent. While I don't think you should send your child ANYWHERE unless absolutely necessary, it should be here if needed. I have heard bad things from friends who went to the embark locations in Utah. But, this one was pretty good. That being said, I thank embark at the Poconos for always treating me with compassion. Almost 3 years later, I am accepted to college for nursing and on track to graduate. We saw significance differences in our kid's core beliefs, ability to pause and question assumptions, emotional regulation, and communication skills. It was amazing. Genuine man, straight forward, treats me with respect, listens and seems to be my "forever" VA Primary, I HOPE! The Pain Management team is 2nd to none, and I sincerely mean that! I am a SEVERE chronic pain patient, with SEVERE spinal destruction, 24/7/365"headaches" (no one, including the best headache specialists around has a CLUE!) but the pain mgmt TEAM (it is a TEAM!) is sincerely THE BEST I've been treated by, something I am kind of an expert in since life as i once knew it came to an INSTANT end on Jan 18, 2004. EVERYONE I deal with is PROFESSIONAL, and I don't have ONE Dr/therapist I dislike! My lone complaint is the ****** n charge of the ER downright REFUSES to treat my "headaches" (seen the best, no known cause, no cure, requires IV pain meds when oral ones fail to work which is when it reaches or exceeds/8/10 and HE IS ALLOWED TO! Calling my Congressman, Patient Advocate (told me to leave him alone" "I'm a waste of his time" (because I called my Senator!) but I've been REPEATEDLY REFUSED TREATMENT, given a Tylenol, icepack and LITERALLY thrown out. OK, I have ONE other complaint....the Adminstration side? When you find a DEDICATED person, they will bend over backwards for you but without that? WOW! WHAT A NIGHTMARE, especially as a new to the VA person. My advice to every veteran, retiree, disabled veteran is this: GO! You will be SHOCLED at the professionalism, the abilities, and the fact that the people you MOST NEED to rely on, GENUINELY do everything they can to make SUIRE you get EVERYTHING you need. Everyone from the therapists to the pharmacists TRULY CARE, and not going due to hearing "horror stories" is REALLY causing you to miss out on MOST OF YOUR CARE being handled by some of the BEST Dr's/people I've encountered in over 22 years as a disabled veteran! Even though I relapsed soon after I completed the PHP/IOP program, I left in a clearly better state than when I came in. I thought my therapist (Bart) & psych (Dr. Gomez) were great advisors and caretakers for me establishing a meds / mental health foundation that has helped me keep afloat as I continue working at my recovery. The group therapists were generally great too, although many I had left while I was there or later. The food is decent & the rooms in the Inn are OK but quite nice at the lodge/houses. I generally liked the techs & nurses, although some were mediocre or worse with their efficacy, attitude, and how they treated the clients. Your experience with the other clients will vary dramatically and there will be lots & lots of drama since there are so many clients there living together. However I did make some closer acquaintances while I was there. They do a good job hosting events and entertaining you but not the best job at keeping clients safe from bad internal actors (aka other unstable & dangerous clients). Be very careful when you initially come in as different case managers, therapists, and psychs may not treat you nice or effectively or even have your best interests in mind (i.e. semi-arbitrarily kick out people / pressure people to stay longer who imo obviously should leave and/or try other treatment options). If you’re looking for inpatient treatment, WGW is a potentially good option to consider but judge what you’re getting into first and while you’re there so no surprises detail your recovery. The food is unreasonably good and the staff avoids ridiculous treatment plans (for me anyhow). I'm pretty sure some drama was going on there but you know, welcome to Water Gap David Hudock 5 months ago to put it simply: I loved my time at the WGW inn during the course of my treatment, the rooms and bedding were comfortable, the food was good, and there was a lot of activities to do at night if we didn't want to use our devices (which is allowed by the way!), and if we didn't want to stay in the inn, we were able to leave and go out to movies, food, etc, which was a big plus in my book! Only downside to it is that they will wake you up at 7am for groups and will keep coming into your room every 5-10 minutes to make sure you are up, and the techs will stand over you while you take meds, but you get used to it. The only thing I would say is that I was not able to see a lactation consultant with my last baby. My baby was born Easter weekend, so I didn't even get to see an lacation consultant that Monday of discharge. When I had my first baby, there were three LCs employed there. Now, I think there is only one. I'd highly recommend that management would hire at least a second LC to be there on the weekends. The LC is available by phone after discharge but in person help would have been great! Moses Taylor is the place to have your baby. I had a great stay here when I delivered my baby in January. The staff are nice, and I had a beautiful clean room in the Mom/Baby section. This was my third baby delivered here and if we have anymore, we plan to deliver here again! If you need a therapist, I highly recommend her. I've only known her for a short time but she has helped me immensely and will make a difference in my life by her positivity, faith in me and giving me life lessons that will only better myself. Within 20 minutes, he was evaluated. From that point on, he received excellent care from Dr Saunders and the entire staff! Nick, who was my dad’s nurse, took exceptional care of him all day. He was admitted. The process of getting him to his room was seamless. Overall, great experience. Kathy Regenski 2 months ago I am extremely disappointed with my recent experience with Geisinger staff. As a brand new patient, this was a terrible introduction to the healthcare system. Over the weekend leading up to my scheduled procedure, our area was hit by a severe storm, and we lost power for multiple days. Because of this, I was unable to properly complete my pre-surgery preparations. I tried everything humanly possible to keep my appointment and make things work under impossible circumstances—unfortunately, I cannot control the weather or command a storm to pass just because I have a medical procedure scheduled. When I called the office to responsibly cancel and explain the situation, the staff was remarkably rude, dismissive, and lacked basic empathy. To make matters worse, I was hung up on twice. As a new patient, no one in that building knows me, and there is zero excuse for staff members to treat people in distress this way. Because of this unacceptable treatment, I am canceling my procedure permanently and going elsewhere. If the staff handling patient communication are this nasty and rude, I certainly do not trust them with my safety while putting me under anesthesia.
