One Year Later: A Heartfelt Thank You It’s hard to believe it’s been one year since I was admitted to Water Gap Wellness. Looking back, I’m overwhelmed with gratitude for how far I’ve come. Today, I’m thriving in my profession, deeply connected to my family and friends, and—most importantly—healthy in every sense of the word. From humble beginnings, I now wake up to a life filled with possibilities, choices, and hope. That transformation didn’t happen overnight—and it didn’t happen alone. The support, compassion, and guidance I received during my time in treatment will stay with me forever. Water Gap wasn’t just a stop along the way—it was a turning point. A place where I learned how to heal, how to grow, and how to believe in myself again. As I celebrate this anniversary, I want to share my deepest thanks with the staff and community at Water Gap Wellness. You helped me find my way, and for that, I’ll always be grateful.

Embark Behavioral Health used to be called Embark at The Poconos. They’re located in White Haven, Pennsylvania. I was here when I was 14 in 2022. I was at a very low point in my life, not wanting to be alive anymore. Embark was a very nice place. 99% of the staff were very kind and caring. The facility was very nice, and the food was pretty good. I didn't like being there, but looking back it wasn't too bad. I was transferred to a long term facility after 2 months at Embark. That is where I entered the world of The Troubled Teen Industry in Utah. I was not placed at one of the embark facilities there, rather an ROP program. But, it's important to know every single facility in Utah is BAD. Embark at the Poconos or one of their other locations far away from Utah is the exception. Embark at the Poconos was like a vacation compared to the other places I was sent. While I don't think you should send your child ANYWHERE unless absolutely necessary, it should be here if needed. I have heard bad things from friends who went to the embark locations in Utah. But, this one was pretty good. That being said, I thank embark at the Poconos for always treating me with compassion. Almost 3 years later, I am accepted to college for nursing and on track to graduate.

Embark had highly trained people who were so supportive to our whole family during our child's stay. We saw significance differences in our kid's core beliefs, ability to pause and question assumptions, emotional regulation, and communication skills. It was amazing. I would highly recommend their program. The staff there are just great to work with.

★☆☆☆☆ 1 Star — Deeply Misleading and Extremely Disappointing This was hands down one of the most misleading experiences I’ve ever had with a treatment center. Before enrolling, I was told — on a recorded call — that I would have access to my phone and computer for four hours a day. That was a major part of why I agreed to go. The moment I arrived and they had my insurance information, everything changed. The rules they promised suddenly didn’t exist, and I was told something completely different. They also claimed to have a gym on-site… which they absolutely do not. That was another selling point they used to get me in the door. Once I was admitted, it felt like the entire focus was billing my insurance, not supporting my recovery. The way they switched up after enrollment was unbelievable and honestly felt manipulative. This was my personal experience, and based on it, I would NOT recommend this facility to anyone looking for honest, transparent care.

As someone who recently left this facility (isn't my actual name), I don't agree with many of the reviews that I've seen. What I saw was a facility truly trying to help those who come in. Staff that would bend-over-backward to try to make people feel comfortable. They have a small staff, and a limited budget, and they go above and beyond places I've been that don't need to say the same. The rooms are clean everyday. The showers are great; let alone "not being able to clean your toothbrush". The place can be chaotic, but what would you call the people coming here in the first place? This isn't a spa; it's a place for sick people to get well, and they do their best to do that. I can't help but think a lot of these reviews are simply angry reviews by regularly angry people. It comes with the territory - we're people struggling. But I appreciate this place and the time I spent here; the staff and the effort they put in. The only credence I'll give is the minimal amount of contact to family had while here, but that doesn't equate to an unsafe environment and the allowance for people to make up whatever stories they want to about the place. Anyway - to the staff of Hillside; thank you. You did a lot for me in my short time there. You actually pushed me to really think about getting into this line of work - helping people who are struggling as I still am, though improving everyday. Because of people like you, and places like Hillside

Wellbrige is a truly healing place. Founded on the principle that addicts are human and addiction is a circumstance of our humanity. It’s not a perfect place, that doesn’t exist. But its pillars are strong and grounded, its people are caring and understanding. There is nothing there that should be an obstacle to your recovery and there are multiple benefits to its construction and constitution.

I have been a client of this facility since October 2021 when I came home from inpatient. Pyramid is the foundation to my recovery... I have never felt like I had to stop coming just because I "completed" a program. I actively attend weekly group sessions and biweekly individual sessions with my counselor Jim. He has been a huge advocate for me since taking over my case a year ago. He is honest and patient with me and makes me feel heard. I have been on MAT throughout the entire time and even though it didn't always go my way, they supported me through it all. Dr. Malcuhay has been seeing me for years and makes me feel like she genuinely cares for my well-being. Sacha from Allentown is one of the nurses that has shown me compassion and held me accountable when I was extremely late for an appointment. Alyssa the nurse is prompt and professional, and it's refreshing to actually receive responses to my emails. Kate, Katie, Gage, Towanna have all been wonderful and I look forward to seeing them all. If your insurance is up to date and paid, you will have no issues here. Thank you for helping me find myself again!

The services for veterans are good for helping veterans get back their self worth back. They provide shelter and help with common needs for veterans. There are opportunities for veterans to get help for those dealing with addition. They also help veterans who are looking for shelter on a temporary basis. I would recommend veterans who are facing a difficult time to give the Helping Up Mission a chance to help them reclaim their lives with dignity and respect. Phenomenal organization that truly cares about its patients recovery and were so helpful in my daughter's treatment, she is better off now from where she was when she first went in. It was not a perfect experience - there were several miscommunications that detracted from the recovery but their management owned all mistakes and missteps - Bill and Jen were especially forthcoming in this, something I appreciated. My favorite spot to sit and reflect was in the gazebo close the the river . The food was great each meal was also good and filling. Now at 48 days clean today 8/25/2025 i feel so great my life has improved dramatically! Thanks to the wrok i put it and the structure of Alina Lodge!!! I love you guys and thank you for helping me regain traction in my life I will be forever grateful! -Mike Liaci

Gary (staff) was extremely nice and helpful. I enjoyed my time there. It’s a great facility with gym cornhole basketball and more. Located between mountain so the air was fresh. Had a good experience with my counsellor Julie. The food is very good.

Best rehab I’ve ever been too….all the techs there are great second and third shift and most of them are in recovery… there were many times I felt like I wasn’t going to make it when I left there and couldn’t sleep at night and tech Michaela on 3rd shift was always super helpful sharing her story with people…. I was able to relate to her so much because we have all been through similar things and I appreciate her talking to me all night and helping me whenever I needed it she really goes out of her way and isn’t there just for the money!! It really helped me stay sober shout out to Michaela!! Best tech on night shift

The staff and place are equally beautiful. The good hearted people always checked on my personal needs multiple times a day. The staff becomes your family. A staff member named Eric one night at 3am talked with me telling me his inspirational story and it helped me to feel better and keep going myself. The food is always good. Friday is all you can eat wings!!! This place helped me to love myself and recover who I am as a man not just from addiction. Living alone is something I will never do again because of going to Huntington creek isolation can’t exist. I have friends and family in the staff and community I was part of. Thank you

Located in Barryville, New York, you’ll find the charming New Hope Manor. They are a substance stabilization and drug rehab center for women living in the area who are suffering from substance misuse disorders. This is primarily a residential center, although they do offer medically supervised withdrawal services for mild to moderate symptoms. T
I completed here in 7 months and that’s probably the earliest completion time that is given, they say 6-9 months but it will take 30 days to discharge you after you’ve been approved. I’m just going to say one thing that may be viewed as negative but it’s really just about your mindset. This facility really doesn’t like to just let you go, even if you’ve spent a full 6-9 months and did the work, stayed out of trouble. I personally see this as them being cautious about keeping us safe rather than a financial thing which everyone will always argue. The staff members who are not working directly on our treatment, like the “techs” which are just called clinical support, they are very well liked. It seems that because they are around us far more than the counselors, they understand us better and you can just know that they care about us a lot because seeing us day in and day out for almost a year, they get to know you, trust is developed. Holidays here are the most extraordinary celebrations any rehab has put together. Not just the winter holidays, every single holiday is celebrated. There were constant events going on, this really created a bonding in the community. Groups are individually chosen, there are many different groups going at the same time and the group changed go by semesters which are ever three months, you sit and pick which groups you would like to be in. I really enjoyed this and some of the groups were fantastic. They throw in things like philosophy, self defense, etc. as if we are taking a college class so it’s not all about addiction treatment. No cell phone and limited phone calls. No cigarettes. You only leave to go to doctor appointments. If you are someone who has tried and failed, tried and failed and need help. PLEASE GIVE NEW HOPE MANOR A SHOT. I will always say that my stay here was the most significant part of my life in the 32 years I’ve been alive. I’m all about self discovery, it’s my purpose in life and NHM gave me so much self discovery. I want to personally thank Matt, who’s genuine care about each of us was made very apparent by always being available to talk and how much he loved to make us laugh. I honestly couldn’t wait to spend my free time after lunch just chatting in the computer room, i know everyone felt that way which is why everyone was always there. Matt takes his job seriously like really seriously and when he took a vacation, the whole place malfunctioned for a couple days but most of all, we couldnt wait til he came back. This is all genuinely true and that just speaks for itself how much of an impact Matt has made on the women.

I just finished 7 months at New Hope Manor and I’m so happy! I am a new person, no longer committing murder to myself via alcohol, opioids and cigarettes. The Angelic guidance of my counselor Amanda who always had the utmost patience and care for me has helped set me free of the self destructive, depressing life I had before I was blessed enough to find New Hope. Amanda gently guided me into having a life I never thought I could achieve. Also Anand, my therapist, helped me so much it’s unreal. He had a way of showing me how to show myself why I self sabotaged and how to fix me. He is an amazing man so gentle , soulful, intuitive, positive and encouraging. Both he and Amanda showed me how and why to forgive myself and how to stop living in shame. I never felt so cared for and understood by anybody like I did from the whole gifted staff at New Hope. Not just for me but for all the other clients living there as well. It amazed me to witness the patience and understanding which was shown even to the most difficult client. The groups (classes) were so well thought out to help bring about a transformation worthy of the hard work they asked. I loved learning all about life, and addiction (it’s never to late) and why and how a sober and peaceful life was mine if I wanted it badly enough. I could never ever thank the amazing staff at New Hope for my New life. Everyone on the staff; whether they were personally assigned to me or not was always there for us which meant so much to me which I’m sure they didn’t realize how much it meant. Even Joe who ran the kitchen showed so much love preparing our meals. The 3 meals a day plus snacks was above and beyond what you’d expect. Just saying, delicious! Joe is an amazing man. I am so grateful for getting to know him and learn why he understood all of us and why he cared so much. I can go on and on with praise for New Hope. I’m not saying they are perfect. Who is? However I can say they do listen to the women there. I figured out early on that when I didn’t agree with their methods there was a good reason for those methods. I know God bought me to New Hope. I was never in rehab before and had no idea what to expect. I did know I couldn’t go on self murdering myself the way I was. I do know I never expected to heal the way I did. I also know I will continue to work on my sobriety outside NH and I know they are with me for the rest of my life. ❤️

I was at New Hope Manor in 2009 and if you had asked me back then I probably would have sounded like some of these reviews, lol. The truth is those mean nuns dedicated their entire life to helping us get sober, and helping us keep our kids and I am eternally grateful for the lessons I learned there. I’m still in touch with some of my new hope sisters and we all agree we would go back in a heart beat. Back then I felt cheated at the holidays, now I realize they taught us what the holidays were really about, I could go on and on. Great program, life saving, for real!
