Located in McDonough, Georgia, McIntosh Community Service Board provides substance misuse services and mental health services for children, adolescents and adults who’re seeking to recover from drugs or alcohol, or even more complex dual diagnosis disorders. This is the place I first went to when I made it known my struggles with mental health. My mother found the closest place, via recommendation from a school counselor, and I have been with them since 2020 I believe. I have since become clean from many self harming behaviors, as well as went into therapy which has helped me so much. I absolutely love Natalie the therapist, she is such a good therapist and I enjoy talking to her even if it’s just about random things sometimes instead of therapy. My psychiatrist has had her moments, and I’m on the edge about switching honestly, but regardless she has helped me get onto some of the right medications and has tried her best to keep me up to date with bloodwork to check for any major concerns regarding my medication. And I appreciate her efforts to help me. I’ve switched through nurses about twice, but my new nurse Dale is wonderful. She’s gentle when taking blood, which is wonderful since I’m prone to passing out!! And she is funny, she has a very uplifting personality from what I can tell. Overall, I am pleased with this establishment. 10/10 on almost all aspects.

I had an excellent experience at Atlanta Detox Center and truly cannot say enough about the quality of care I received. From the moment I arrived, I felt welcomed and supported. The staff treated everyone with genuine care and respect, which made a difficult process so much easier to go through. The classes and group sessions were extremely beneficial in getting newly sober as well. I want to give a special shout-out to my case manager, Christian. He went above and beyond for me—helping with my FMLA paperwork, answering all of my questions, and always showing patience and understanding throughout the process. Having someone so attentive really made a difference. I also want to recognize the behavioral health techs. They were consistently kind, caring, and helpful towards all clients, and it showed that they truly care about the people they work with. Overall, Atlanta Detox Center made a challenging step in my life feel achievable and supported.

Newport Integrated Behavioral Healthcare provides mental health care and addiction recovery support for children, teens, and adults in Decatur, Georgia. You can find many different levels of support here, including residential detox and different types of outpatient services. They accept private pay, commercial insurance, Medicaid, and Medicare. S
Newport is a good place to Detox at. They accept most insurance and can set you up with a bed over the phone. They support MAT but I brought my own supply so I can’t speak on theirs. They gave me a 5 day benzodiazepine taper and vitamins/supplements, along with my normal meds. The intake process was simple, you get shook down a bit upon entering the clinical area, they look through your things and your person. They do a urine test, TB stick, and take blood on day 2. I would suggest bringing a weeks worth of clothing, warm stuff, pajamas, house shoes, shower shoes are a must, reading material, writing material, recovery books, you will need an extra pillow or 2, bring your own blanket and basic toiletries-they can supply hygiene items if necessary, cigarettes / tobacco, you can’t bring vapes, no phones. The bathroom was a lil nasty but the showers were clean and functional as well as private. The place is a bit dingy and old feeling overall and could use paint and decor. The bedrooms have a window and 2-3 twin beds with divider curtains between each, and 2 nightstands/shelves. You get fresh clean pillow cases, blankets, sheets, towels, washcloth. The beds aren’t great but they’re not the worst I’ve seen. You can come and go from your room to the Dayroom or nurses station as you please. There is a landline phone available during certain hours. I was there with 5-6 other folks. I had a relapse on stimulants and was admitted a few days after calling. Nurse Ginny spoke to me on the phone and she was very kind and experienced. The nurses were great, Rose was the best. The daytime started with a meal from Piccadilly, these to go plates were so-so. Some were better than others. But the portions were big. You also get a snack every night at night med call. We would then do groups, they had a good variety. Some were videos some were activity based some writing based, etc. The counselors were all nice people and qualified. The aftercare coordinator Joy that worked with me was super friendly and helpful. They can also set you up with part time classes to attend on site after you graduate detox, or send you to an inpatient residential treatment center, then halfway house. They’ll take you all the way if you put in the work, they have the connections and knowledge to help people in tons of ways. Take advantage of people like this, they live to help others. They could use a new DVD player and some DVDs and Blu rays for sure, and art supplies. Overall it’s a good place to get clean. The intake process was smooth and the place itself was solid, programs and everything. Food, beds, and the paint/decor, as well as the men’s bathroom are my only complaints. I had a room to myself the whole time I was there, and got a lot of writing and some reading done. Played some cards and watched some movies. My time there really helped me a lot in my recovery journey. I use Smart Recovery and have gotten deep into the program since leaving detox. They offer AA, NA, and other support groups as well. If you are battling addicting and need help, reach out, this is a good jumping off point. It’s all up to you.

Dr. Moseri is very knowledgeable and beyond qualified for what he is doing. My experience with him is not just for mental adjustment. He has shown to be knowledgeable as a physician as well. I thank the Most High for him. Since seeing him I have learned to manage my emotional feelings, and I am more aware of my physical health which had a great impact on my cognitive mindset. The negative comments that are on here are mind-blowing. But keep in mind, majority of the patients and or guardians of patients seeking help are in a negative space in life anyway. Trying to use negativity to charge your positive seems not to work. When you seek help, submit to what's being put before you and Yah will do the rest to help bring you out. I pray healing and well-being for us all.

There is definitely a process in order to become an established patient, but once you take care of all that this is an amazing organization staffed with individuals who show up to help people in need. My therapist is Gabby and psych is Dr. Hill, both exemplary human beings! They are down to Earth, real people who care. The front desk ladies are soooo kind and the pharmacist greets you with an understanding smile. If you need help, these human beings are here to do just that. Situations can be frustrating in life. Scheduling can be cumbersome at times if you stay busy. But the bottom line is, these people WILL HELP YOU. They saved my life.

Had an appointment at 2 & left at 5:45. - when calling to make an appointment, please be as thorough as possible with customer service on the line especially if you have never been in have them explained the process thoroughly. - if you have already been tested for HIV/STI’s you WILL need to be tested all over again here for their records. (Even with results from other labs) I waited until 3 for my appointment & almost walked out. The manager came out and walked me back and asked me to explain the situation. He was apologetic and I gave him feedback and let him know this could have been prevented with better customer service on the phone. (I explained that I knew it wasn’t his department nor the 2 ladies responsibilities.) the manager, nurses, and lab techs were very helpful, appreciative, and even stayed about an hour past 5 pm (when they close) to make sure I was take care of. I thank the receptionists, manager, nurse, & lab tech for ensuring the VERY long wait time was rectified and I was taken care of. If not for them, this easily would have been a 1 star review. Customer service/the call center representative (when you call) needs to be worked on if not entirely revamped.

Dr Stanton and the staff that draw blood is what make this establishment such a pleasure. I don’t know if it’s a Georgia thing. But the customer service is terrible. I arrived for treat on a Monday, from the moment I walked in, I felt love a support from the staff working the front desk. They were very patient and I was having a very rough day. Once arriving to my unit Light House I met Mr. Emmanuel; at the very least he was wonderful, patient, kind, and compassionate. They offered me food to eat and encouraged me that everything would be okay in spite of everything going on in the outside world. I knew God had sent me to the right place. The food was wonderful, and the rooms were clean. They allow you to go outside and encourage you to interact with the other clients. The therapist that held activities were fun and engaging. The nurses and technicians were very eager to assist with any concerns and they actually listened. I honestly cant say enough about my experience and care there. Lastly, I would like to give a huge thank you to Mr. Emmanuel, RN Robin, and Therapist Raquel. Thank you all for your love and much needed support. May God continue to bless and keep you. As an alumni of the breakthru house I can speak on them for days. This place taught me to crawl after I fell flat on my face in life. The love and support from the staff there is beyond amazing. There is an anointing on everyone that works there! You can feel it in the air the second you arrive. I was mandated there by the court so the officers delivered me to them. They would not allow me to enter still in shackles. That moment changed everything for me. I was finally free! The staff there taught me how to remain free of those shackles and I am forever grateful for the help they freely gave with no expectations in return other than my success. Everything I have now is because they took a chance on me. Thank you breakthru for being there for me!!

This office was a referral for me and they couldn’t have picked a better office. My first time attending there, and they was very professional and polite from the front desk to the doctor. Dr. Oglesby and his assistant was very easy to talk to and they were very attentive and knowledgeable to my health and needs. He is very through and makes sure I was given every options to what treatment plan was best suited for my care. I highly recommend this office.
