Sharon Josefson 9 years ago I categorically recommend GlenOaks Therapeutic Day School to parents for children who are struggling with social emotional issues.   For our son, with his then severe separation and other anxieties, as well as some learning disabilities, it made all the difference in his having a good and happy childhood, and to his having progressed normally into adulthood. It provided him with the support he needed from 3rd grade through his junior year in high school, when he then very successfully mainstreamed into our very good public high school. And, because of GlenOaks, our son was able to go on to to a very successful college experience, including doing very well in his college’s honors academic program, and being a leader in college activities. GlenOaks provided our son with the safe and supportive atmosphere that he needed to work through his issues, while still allowing him to be learning and taking part in other normal day-to-day childhood school activities. These included art, music, and sports, none of which he would have done had he not been at GlenOaks. Further, had our son been in a traditional school, we’re sure that his anxieties would have caused him to be targeted by bullies. And we’re quite sure that that would have exacerbated what was already our son’s diminishing self-confidence and happiness. In contrast, at GlenOaks TDS, he was not bullied, and gained great satisfaction in and confidence from the successes that he had as he progressed through the school’s activities, curriculum and behavioral support programs. We were always impressed with the quality, abilities and commitment of each of the teachers at GlenOaks TDS. They understood our son’s challenges and were always kind while firm in helping him, providing him with an understanding of his struggles and ways to overcome them, a piece at a time. Our son learned self-advocacy skills there that have been integral to his continued and growing successes in his five years since leaving GlenOaks. We have nothing but respect for the GlenOaks TDS program, including the two administrators who founded and still run the school; the other administrators; and the outstanding and committed teaching staff. Lots and lots of groups, very well structured, the rules are really easy to understand and follow, and the staff genuinely cares about how you're feeling during your stay as well. You get to see your psychiatrist once a week to make sure your medication is helping, and the psychiatrists they have on staff are wonderful, as well as your therapist and if you're in the substance abuse program, they're kind too, from what I've heard. This program also has amazing outside events for its patients in recovery, such as game nights, movie/book club nights, and more. If you're looking for a program that can get you to that next step when every other programs or every other solution has not worked, I promise you if you follow their advice and tips, you definitely will. Also, the small group allowed for me to learn more and get the most from the program. The instructors are very well versed and knowledgeable about addiction. I looked forward to going every day. Our group became very close knit and we do activities together outside of class. I wanted to be at TK. I didn't have someone make the decision for me, although my husband was very supportive. Out of all the staff, there were only 2 I didn't like. Not that they were bad, just a clash with our personalities. I have epilepsy, it's chronic and active. I had to go home to have surgery (a replacement battery for the device that helps control my seizures). I was gone for about 36 hours. The staff was great with my seizures and with my surgery. I thought I was going to need to go back when my husband passed away, but I made it through. A lot of that I can credit TK with for giving me the tools to work with. The only problem I really had was leaving. Leaving was terrifying because that safety net just vanished. That is one thing I think the staff needs to prepare you a bit better for. I've been healthy since leaving. Sure, I still get the feelings/urges on occasion but I created my own safety net. I can control the urges. I'm actually rather proud of myself. PS - If any of the former staff ever reads this "Meany Mo-Mo" you know who you are. Thank you, for all you did. Your patience, your help, and just being there when I needed it. I've been to 2 other hospitals in other parts of Illinois. I kept calling this place the "Ritz Carlton" or at the very least, a 4 star hotel. The hospital food is fantastic. After your first 24 hours, most people are able to go over to the cafeteria to select your own food. The lunch & dinner menu were the same, but they had an amazing variety (e.g. Chicago style hot dogs & beefs, a taco salad, etc.) They always had available: 2 soups, pizza & chicken tenders, snacks, drinks. They had plenty of snacks in the fridge and in the drawers in the unit as well. I gained like 5 lbs in 2 weeks, eating more/ better than I usually do. I met with my psychiatrist daily, and on the weekends, there was a fill in person to check in. There were 3 or 4 groups per day. They had plenty of coloring pages, books in their library, DVDs to watch, Soduku puzzles, etc to keep busy in between activities. I really felt the staff were all very nice. Their job probably isn't easy, especially when a new patient comes in and is agitated or aggressive. I only noticed them getting frustrated when someone would repeatedly disrespect the staff. We did only get to go outside once per day, and only if the weather was OK. That was also the only time we had access to music. I felt like they are a bit more conservative in terms of keeping you a set amount of time. I stayed inpatient for 2 weeks, but that's likely because they were adjusting my meds. I got treatment before I decided to give the Gateway, Iopc,a try. Im not religious and religion isnt pushed at GateWay Iopc, which is why i gave it a try. My Dr suggested it so I decided to do that treatment after my detox. Also my counselor Dan in the Joliet office is a great counselor. I, like most people are closed off when going thru this process. Eventually you will begin to open up when you see there is several other people dealing and going thru a similar situation as yourself. And believe me Im the most closed off person there is. You may not agree with all of it, as I didn't, but there are parts that's help. Everyone is dealing with something different and everyone is affected differently. A professional experiencing trauma. Why would I need to sell meds that I needed to take? Why would she make such an offensive statement to me? Because I was already experiencing so much trauma I only shared that statement with others. I felt Sylvia was interested in prescribing anxiety meds because as I got better and my anxiety subsided she still wanted me to take these pills. I rejected the script. I usually get seen at the Hoffman estates location but recently moved. I got blood drawn today at Aurora and I couldn’t be more thankful. This school should be the model of how we do education in America. Our son is on the spectrum and went from being bullied and failing public high school to being supported and nurtured while thriving academically when he started at Glen Oaks. All the teachers and supporting staff are experts at what they do and will help your student learn no matter what the challenges. I categorically recommend GlenOaks Therapeutic Day School to parents for children who are struggling with social emotional issues.   For our son, with his then severe separation and other anxieties, as well as some learning disabilities, it made all the difference in his having a good and happy childhood, and to his having progressed normally into adulthood. It provided him with the support he needed from 3rd grade through his junior year in high school, when he then very successfully mainstreamed into our very good public high school. And, because of GlenOaks, our son was able to go on to to a very successful college experience, including doing very well in his college’s honors academic program, and being a leader in college activities. GlenOaks provided our son with the safe and supportive atmosphere that he needed to work through his issues, while still allowing him to be learning and taking part in other normal day-to-day childhood school activities. These included art, music, and sports, none of which he would have done had he not been at GlenOaks. Further, had our son been in a traditional school, we’re sure that his anxieties would have caused him to be targeted by bullies. And we’re quite sure that that would have exacerbated what was already our son’s diminishing self-confidence and happiness. In contrast, at GlenOaks TDS, he was not bullied, and gained great satisfaction in and confidence from the successes that he had as he progressed through the school’s activities, curriculum and behavioral support programs. We were always impressed with the quality, abilities and commitment of each of the teachers at GlenOaks TDS. They understood our son’s challenges and were always kind while firm in helping him, providing him with an understanding of his struggles and ways to overcome them, a piece at a time. Our son learned self-advocacy skills there that have been integral to his continued and growing successes in his five years since leaving GlenOaks. We have nothing but respect for the GlenOaks TDS program, including the two administrators who founded and still run the school; the other administrators; and the outstanding and committed teaching staff. Because of his time at GlenOaks TDS, our son today is a self-confident, well-rounded, solid, enjoyable adult, as well as a responsible and compassionate person.

This facility is just amazing! Truly felt like everyone cared about me, and I can honestly say I trusted everyone in there. Trust is very hard for me, but the adult program and the staff allowed me to be myself with no judgement. I'm trying so hard to follow the rules and not name any staff but will give a broad review. Right when you walk in the staff is friendly, always smiling which in turn made me smile. The supervisor is amazing; the head of the counselors who leads the group therapy is one of the best people I ever met. The staff that lead the groups cared about me, and it was genuine, and they are so smart and fun. From the psychiatrist to my therapist everyone was on the same page. I just want to say thank you to everyone there from the bottom of my heart!

Suncloud has been a life saver. The staff was and is always welcoming and caring. So I want to let anyone know who is looking into treatment Banyan was such a fantastic experience for me. I owe them such a debt of GRATITUDE. I am a middle-aged woman with kids who was struggling with drinking - life was just sad for me due to some pretty terrible trauma-I knew I needed to make a change and I came to Banyan. I was scared & ashamed. They treated me with such kindness. The program was well structured & professional. The financial obligation was manageable. Everyone there continues to check on my progress. I stayed in Crisis Residential for a month (I got an extended week) and I learned so much and had SUCH a great time, I HIGHLY recommend this place if you're in need of a timeout. Lots and lots of groups, very well structured, the rules are really easy to understand and follow, and the staff genuinely cares about how you're feeling during your stay as well. You get to see your psychiatrist once a week to make sure your medication is helping, and the psychiatrists they have on staff are wonderful, as well as your therapist and if you're in the substance abuse program, they're kind too, from what I've heard. Once again, thank you Ecker, for helping me learn to manage my anxiety and various other symptoms. You've done a great job for a lot of people! 10/5 stars!

This is my first time experiencing an addiction recovery program. But I can honestly say I've never been part of any program (of any kind) that has counselors and leaders with bigger hearts! I was recommended this place by my therapist, and can honestly say it was not only the best decision I've ever made but the most life-changing decision I've ever gotten to experience. As soon as I started, I could instantly tell that the counselors and leaders weren't just there to do a job but genuinely cared about every patient who entered their program. It was amazing to not only get education and tools on how to go through recovery but also how to cope with life outside of recovery with a tailored made schedules for each individual. This program also has amazing outside events for its patients in recovery, such as game nights, movie/book club nights, and more. Care Addiction Center is more than a program; it's a beating heart that saves & changes lives! I can honestly say it saved mine! If you're looking for a program that can get you to that next step when every other programs or every other solution has not worked, I promise you if you follow their advice and tips, you definitely will. I'm grateful to have met every single person a part of this program! I don't think there is a better recovery program that really exists; especially for its affordability. I know I'm biased, but there are many who would back that! I'm genuinely so grateful for these counselors and leaders and the many I've met who joined me in the program along the way!

BEST EXPERIENCE!!! This center was perfect for me because I am not a very social person and the small group sessions were perfect. Also, the small group allowed for me to learn more and get the most from the program. The instructors are very well versed and knowledgeable about addiction. I looked forward to going every day. Our group became very close knit and we do activities together outside of class. If you do not want to be just a seat filler and actually get something out of your recovery journey, this is the place.

I see a lot of negative reviews on here and my experience might have been different due to my age (late 30s). I wanted to be at TK. I didn't have someone make the decision for me, although my husband was very supportive. Out of all the staff, there were only 2 I didn't like. Not that they were bad, just a clash with our personalities. I have epilepsy, it's chronic and active. I had to go home to have surgery (a replacement battery for the device that helps control my seizures). I was gone for about 36 hours. The staff was great with my seizures and with my surgery. I thought I was going to need to go back when my husband passed away, but I made it through. A lot of that I can credit TK with for giving me the tools to work with. The only problem I really had was leaving. Leaving was terrifying because that safety net just vanished. That is one thing I think the staff needs to prepare you a bit better for. I've been healthy since leaving. Sure, I still get the feelings/urges on occasion but I created my own safety net. I can control the urges. I'm actually rather proud of myself. PS - If any of the former staff ever reads this "Meany Mo-Mo" you know who you are. Thank you, for all you did. Your patience, your help, and just being there when I needed it. You literally are the best. <3

The care I receive is outstanding! I have experienced a friendly atmosphere, warmth from the front desk, RN Brittany who took good care of me during my Pre Op. She is so thorough with the preparation, patient education so I know what to expect. Tish the PcT who also made me feel comfortable not to be worried and over think. I felt the sincerity and care that all patient should experience. Dr. Barkatullah is great, he made me feel secure and well guided of what to expect. Post op care Laarni, RN stood by me, when I woke up from the procedure , very patient, making sure I am recovered good. The office staff can be pleasant, the setting is confidential, & the payment/billing process is streamlined & simplified for your convenience. When I first went there I was quite nervous & inquired about a few things I was unsure of. Sarah explained them all in full which is something I’ve never received at any other medical facility. I was recently in inpatient care for a manic episode. I've been to 2 other hospitals in other parts of Illinois. I kept calling this place the "Ritz Carlton" or at the very least, a 4 star hotel. The hospital food is fantastic. After your first 24 hours, most people are able to go over to the cafeteria to select your own food. The lunch & dinner menu were the same, but they had an amazing variety (e.g. Chicago style hot dogs & beefs, a taco salad, etc.) They always had available: 2 soups, pizza & chicken tenders, snacks, drinks. They had plenty of snacks in the fridge and in the drawers in the unit as well. I gained like 5 lbs in 2 weeks, eating more/ better than I usually do. I met with my psychiatrist daily, and on the weekends, there was a fill in person to check in. There were 3 or 4 groups per day. They had plenty of coloring pages, books in their library, DVDs to watch, Soduku puzzles, etc to keep busy in between activities. I really felt the staff were all very nice. Their job probably isn't easy, especially when a new patient comes in and is agitated or aggressive. I only noticed them getting frustrated when someone would repeatedly disrespect the staff. We did only get to go outside once per day, and only if the weather was OK. That was also the only time we had access to music. I felt like they are a bit more conservative in terms of keeping you a set amount of time. I stayed inpatient for 2 weeks, but that's likely because they were adjusting my meds. I had the option of going to Linden Oaks or Good Samaritan. I'm very glad I chose Linden Oaks!

I'm an alcoholic, have been for years. I got treatment before I decided to give the Gateway, Iopc,a try. Im not religious and religion isnt pushed at GateWay Iopc, which is why i gave it a try. My Dr suggested it so I decided to do that treatment after my detox. Also my counselor Dan in the Joliet office is a great counselor. I, like most people are closed off when going thru this process. Eventually you will begin to open up when you see there is several other people dealing and going thru a similar situation as yourself. And believe me Im the most closed off person there is. You may not agree with all of it, as I didn't, but there are parts that's help. Everyone is dealing with something different and everyone is affected differently. Focus on yourself and don't let outside influences stop you from what you want.

My Therapist is Theresa Mikosz. She is amazing. I starting meeting with her at a very critical time in my life. She helped me through when it all. She is sensitive, to your concerns, listens, hears you, questions, understands and offer recommendations, to help improve your life. I highly recommend her. She will be retiring and I will miss her terribly. I think she is a professional that has mastered her craft! The APN I was assigned Sylvia Giron lacks all sensitivity. She was more interested in keeping me on anxiety mesds when my test results showed my anxiety had totally subsided. I will no longer see the APN Slyvia Giron as I should have discontinued seeing her after I requested an increase in dosage of my ADHD medication. Im a professional in corporate experiencing major trauma and she stated something to the effect that you are not going to sell these pills? Apparently Sylvia did not read my chart. A professional experiencing trauma. Why would I need to sell meds that I needed to take? Why would she make such an offensive statement to me? Because I was already experiencing so much trauma I only shared that statement with others. I felt Sylvia was interested in prescribing anxiety meds because as I got better and my anxiety subsided she still wanted me to take these pills. I rejected the script. She scolded me for stop taking the meds. Again Theresa Mikosz has been Amazing 👏 Thank you Theresa!

HOWEVER, I would like to advise the hospital that their intake receptionist is a VERY rude and incompetent employee. You should probably get rid of her before she loses you patients because I almost DID LEAVE when she got smart with me. That's why I didn't leave 5 stars.
