Just released from in-care for anxiety and calming down. Love, love, love the staff! Groups are very helpful, and participating can be be enlightening.
Food had been great on previous visits-not right now, it isn't.
Beware of you have asthma, cleaning product grades are medically necessary with so many people going in and out, and are high in VOCs. Get medical Dr to temporarily double your asthma medication, I forgot and I had a hard time catching my breath.
Not highly structured at all, and wonderful people helping you. A great place to calm down!

A family member of mine has been in and out of behavioral facilities for quite some time. It can be difficult following the progress and watching loved ones struggle.

My son was there for one year 2024-2025 and he completed the programs, classes meetings and then lived at Genesis Sober Living. He would be in jail or dead if it wasn’t for the Sanctuary. Chris M and the court judge always worked with my son to make sure he stayed on track. So many others can succeed with this type of program. I wish Texas had something like this. I have worked in the substance use disorder and mental health field for many years and when I discovered Sanctuary Louisiana I never knew such a unique place existed in Louisiana. They offer three levels of therapeutic care, the traditional 28 Day Program, a halfway house (which are hard to find in Louisiana) and an IOP program. As another benefit sober living homes are available that are actually supervised with random drug screens. What is even more unique is that they have a highly qualified counseling and medical staff, find jobs for clients in the halfway house program instead of throwing in the world to find their own jobs and provide transportation to and from work. The whole spectrum of services provides a gradual exposure to life's stressors as opposed to 28 days and you are on your own. Long term treatment is what works for those with substance use disorders and those that complete the program have higher than average success rates in regards to sustained recovery. Substance use disorders don't develop overnight and years of addiction requires long term treatment as that is not overcome overnight either. Especially when most people with addictions have a substance use disorder and a mental health disorder, called co-occurring disorders All of the client's psychiatric and physical health needs are met as they provide medication management services with a PNP and an MD. It is a gem in plain sight.

Star was communicating with my mom to get me brought all the way from Oregon and answered any questions we had. I went in for alcohol treatment, I was VERY bad off and she helped set my moms mind at ease going through this. I don't have enough words to explain how thankful I am. They were so kind and explained everything. They checked on me often and made.sure I was comfortable and had everything I needed. I was only here three days and they set me up on outpatient care in lake Charles. I can't believe this place was just an hour down the road. I have my life back and I am so grateful. UPDATE I AM NEVER GOING BACK every two months they have magically loose my meds or don't send them at all !!! Nurse calls tell me I'll send Genoa pharmacy script now again NO MEDS WHY BOTHER I'M DONE with the burke CENTER yall messed with both my kids meds now me yall trying to get me HOSPITALIZED????? Making people do without meds! Is It a game to y'al? 6 times this year I have had to do without one or more of my meds FOR DAYS !!!!!!
now the new child doctor has refused to refill my daughter's ADHD medication without cause or Reason has purposely tried make her do without her medication for 2 weeks!!!!

The Burke center is failing my son with severe ADHD who is currently transferring from child to Adult who is set up to begin college and I fear he will not even have a chance now that the medicine that works and enabled him to even remotely control himself and concentrate is now being abruptly refused to continue to prescribe it just because he is 18! If he is trying to better himself and stay in school he should be able to continue to be prescribed what will help him do that!

If I could give this place zero stars I would. My fiancée attended this place to detox before rehab. He was allowed to keep his phone so naturally we would facetime and call and text. They kept him so drugged up his entire stay. Was on multiple meds he didn't need. He could barely talk to me or text me. A lot of other unnecessary drama happened during his stay. Just overall a terrible and chaotic stay.

I went here June 2020. I've never been to a different place and I wouldn't want to. This place treated me as if I was a person just like everyone else. They didn't look down on me because of my drug use. Every single worker there was amazing. If I had to go again I would choose this place as many times as they would let me.

The day after my daughter turned 16 she was admitted at New Beginnings. This is certainly NOT the sweet 16 I had imagined. I had spent the last 9 months trying to figure out what was going on with my daughter. The night before her 16 birthday I located her with friend completely wasted to a dangerous level. She revealed she had a plan to kill herself so I immediately took her to the emergency room. She went to a hospital for a day or two until I could get her enrolled. A good friend was a drug and alcohol professional and recommended New Beginnings. It is hard to leave your child with strangers in another state but what other choice did I have? I knew this was a life or death situation. The staff took good care of her and helped her begin a journey of sobriety. It was not an easy journey for her or our family. The staff remained in close contact with us and tried to help us as a family. Most importantly they saved my daughter. This July she will celebrate her 6th year of sobriety. I could not be more grateful for this staff. Their attention to detail and care of my entire child was incredible. My daughter is alive, sober and thriving as a young adult because of these professionals.

This facility is caring. The staff listens and the doctors or PA's are incredible. I have been coming here a lot of years. They have not let me down. I really don't know what I would have done without Burke. Probably travelled a lot of miles and not received the help that I needed. My case worker is the BEST. I've been her client for 15 yrs. Hey! I am so thankful this has been a place of refuge for my socioeconomical and domestic violence problems I have two protective orders on two parties to leave me alone. I have had a past of bad boyfriends and their narcissistic friends who have lied to me and stolen from me and looked past really simple health issues which fogged me up really bad for a long time. I mean I almost died at least once or twice as a young child and have found some really bad deals growing up along the way. Wow! Keeping my own beliefs and trying to keep the enemy away and out of my mind body spirit has not been easy as a middle aged woman.
Burke is alright. I am grateful for them, but I don't like it when they change my appointments when I rely on the city bus or Uber, etc.

Today Feb 18, 2022 was a wonderful day to visit Burke, Hearts for the Homeless was there. It is always good to see them. They made me my sugar cookies I love so much ❤️ with colored frosting and sugar sprinkles.

Had my loved one in there based on someone else admitted them in. They were very miserable and almost died in there. No one should be treated this way. Someone will do something and everyone of the staff there will be humbled and unemployed once everything is all said and done.

I went to this treatment program and it was the best thing I ever did for my addiction. Longer programs are more effective and they reunited me with my child and I have had full custody of him for over 4 years now. This is the longest I've ever been clean from drugs 5 years now. People who talk down on this program obviously did not invest themselves in the program to get the true help they needed. Literally the best thing I ever did I'd probably be dead if I hadn't gone here when I did. Thank you to all the staff there who helped save my life!

I went to treatment here for about 4 months. I LOVED IT. I learned so much there, about addiction, parenting, how to be a decent human being etc. The staff are amazing.. they really go above and beyond, EVERY DAY, for their clients. Both of the Amys do such a great job at teaching the core classes and counseling to work on specific issues that have impacted your life. It’s a trauma informed environment. It’s also a sanctuary environment. I highly recommend IFW to any woman wanting help with her substance abuse issues because this place seriously changed my life. 100%.

My wife and I are grateful for the program here at The Orchard on the Brazos. The team there has shown that a program uniquely designed to treat addiction while maintaining dignity is the best way to achieve and maintain sobriety. Additionally, their family programs are second to none. We attended a weekend event that was incredibly helpful to us. And, my wife and I have been attending their weekly family zoom meeting for 16 months. Not coincidentally, our loved one is 16 months sober. Unfortunately, we have had two experiences with the Orchard with two of our adult children. I wrote unfortunately, because no one should have to experience their children battling addiction. We had previous experience at another organization that was fruitless. This was a whole new version.
The professionals at the Orchard care not only for the residents, but also provide forums for the family members as well. It is a welcoming caring environment, where family participation is encouraged, because we all need healing in some respects.
For those who are just about at their wits end, there is hope. Let me also say this is not a miracle place, our kids have work that they need to do. As a Dad, I would encourage you to fully check out the facilities, programs and staff. We have been very blessed with our experiences.

Do not go here. My husband went here and they was just horrible with him. They was rude and charged all his meds. And he kept telling them he still felt like he wanted to kill his self and they still sent him home told him it was normal to feel like that. That he would get use to it. He has a traumatic brain injury and has short trim memory lose. So he repeats his self a lot. Cuz of that they acted like he was just there to get medicine because he kept asking for them but it was just because he couldn't remember taking it. And trying to get a hold of someone to talk to them about this is next to impossible because they never answer there phone or return your calls, they do call you for you family visit. And you can tell that person what you think but that's as for as it goes. That person tells you they will give they message but nothing comes out of it.

Staff including the nurse practitioner were absolutely negligent in their medical care. I went two days without seeing a doctor. I had no medication for two days and I have stomach ulcers. I spent three days in bed without a nurse even checking on me and became dehydrated leading to passing out at nurses desk. I was shocked by the lack of compassion by the staff in such a time of need. I hope never to return!

Fulshear saved my life—twice.
I first went to Fulshear in 2021 after moving to Texas. I gained the tools I needed to manage my mental health and really found healing there. One of the most impactful parts of my experience was equine therapy. I was a barn manager and caring for the horses gave me a deep sense of purpose. I also made connections that I still carry with me today.
In 2024, I returned to Fulshear when I was struggling with substance use. I knew it was the place I needed to go, and once again, it changed my life. My therapist, Courtney Deadman, is the best therapist I have ever worked with. She’s inclusive, compassionate, and truly gifted at what she does. The family work we did together completely transformed my relationship with my parents—I’ve never communicated with them so well. Courtney held my light when I couldn’t, and now I can hold it proudly on my own.
The rest of the clinical team—especially Micah and Injila—also made a huge impact. They led powerful groups and always made me feel seen and supported. The entire staff is truly exceptional.
I also want to shout out the admissions team—Helaine is my hero. She supported me with so much care and compassion, and even checked in on me after I left treatment. She and her daughter Della are an amazing team and two of the most genuine, kindhearted people I’ve ever met. I’m beyond grateful for them.
If you’re looking for a place that can truly help you heal, grow, and take back your life, I cannot recommend OPI Houston enough!!! Best of luck on your journey!

I came into the ranch broken lost and hurting. I had a lot of trauma from my childhood and my young adulthood that I never processed. As a result I was struggling with addiction, depression anxiety, you name it. Before the ranch I was use to abusive relationships, codependency, homelessness and isolation. I spent 3 months on the ranch and completely transformed my life. It was a lot of hard work. And I honestly wanted to change my life. I knew I was not living the life I was meant to live. I have nothing but good things to say about Fulshear. The staff is amazing and I believe in the program. Since Fulshear I am now 10 months sober. I live in a safe home and I'm able to have healthy relationships. I am back to working and even won employee of the month. I still continue with working with a therapist, which I will probably always continue to do in my life. It's a life long journey. But I was able to start and gain tools to start my healing and new life. I even found good friends at treatment that I still stay in touch with and we continue to love and support each other to this day. Fulshear will always hold a special place in my heart.

I was at Fulshear in 2017. They brand themselves as a trauma informed treatment center. What a joke. We were made to feel that we were liars if we didn’t want to share trauma/abuse in our lives with all the other girls.
My therapist did a family call and as I was crying she told me “stop squealing like a pig”
The same therapist also forced me to do EMDR with her and was so rude when I told her I wasn’t comfortable AND she did the touching/tapping method when I specifically said I didn’t want to be touched. This singular experience made me absolutely terrified to do EMDR even with my therapist of 8 years now.
There’s so much I could say- I mean staff would gossip with patients about other patients and turn everyone against each other.
Also the staff were literally just hired off of indeed right away with no training or understanding for mental illness. Pathetic.
I was also there during hurricane Harvey and it was insane how much you could straight up hear the rude staff since we were all made to sleep in the admin building for a week.
You were not even allowed to graduate if you didn’t share your entire life story with everyone in a group- wow stupid me for not wanting to share my extensive trauma history with some girls I didn’t trust or knew they would use it against me somehow.
In conclusion, DONT GO HERE. EVERYTHING they do is based off of manipulation and turning girls against each other AND just having pathetic therapists who acted as if you were a bad person since you were at the “treatment” center. Don’t let anyone trick you into going here for a therapeutic experience- the psycho on the admissions phone spun a very great web of lies, clearly coached and practiced.
F you fulshear, you made my life even harder than it already was and I’m still suffering 8 years later from what I endured here.
