We got to do a bunch of therapeutic activities that were so helpful, and the staff were also really kind, friendly, and understanding. This place is amazing for someone struggling with a mental illness, at the time, I had depression, and this Mental Health Service helped me a lot. Everyone that works here will go to the end of the earth to help you from the administrative staff such as Michelle all the way to the therapists including my personal therapist at the facility named Ande. Ande has been a tremendous help to me since day one and has helped me with getting out of my own way and has aided me on my path of recovery and self discovery. They focus on multiple areas of mental health whether it's substance abuse or just depression/anxiety. They also provide transportation depending how close you are to the facility. I took them out and switched her to preferred and now she sees Megan and WOW she is doing so much better she’s so much more communicative and open her behavior has drastically changed and I feel like I’ve got my child back. I recommend them to anyone that sees that their child is going through a rough time. From the minute I walked in there everyone was excellent! They took the best of care of me, that I ever had. When I got to the room in the back of the ER, the two doctors were thorough. Excellent kind did all kinds of test on me. The nurses were excellent and they found out What was wrong with me. I had about five different symptoms that were serious. They did test bloodwork and they found out. I’ve been working with my therapist, Bethany, for years now and she has changed my life for the better. Only problem I have is every time I'm here I'm always waiting on the infectious disease doctor fruity tutti who never comes in and apparently makes all her decisions on the computer rather and actually seeing a patient. The one time she did come in a few months ago I couldn't understand a word she was was saying. So I would need a translator. My kids have a father because of these amazing people, which makes this that much harder to see what has happened to them. Toms River recovery doesnt exist without the staff of The Counseling Center. The amount of people they have helped surpasses anything I've ever seen in the recovery world in this state.They go above and beyond for their patients and im alive today because of them. I'm shocked an appalled to here about the staff no longer being employed there. Like I said this is the main center hub of the recovery network in Toms River without Candace Matt&Matt and their team the amount of lives that will be effected is insurmountable. Denis Bilups was really there for me and the group meetings on Wednesday morning were great he really knew how to control the room and have people unlock their emotions that you wouldn’t even think some of these people had. I found out a lot about myself and grew as a person for the better. The evening meetings I wasn’t so fond of Denis didn’t do them was other people. Seemed like the people who didn’t take it seriously went in the evening just to get it over with. But I would highly recommend going to Jewish family center and definitely attending Wednesday morning groups with Denis, he makes it personal and his method works and I’m forever grateful. Chelsea Cermak 2 years ago I was referred to Jewish family services 4 months ago, at first I was reluctant when they told me I would be attending IOP 3x a week, but tried to go in with a positive attitude. Over the course of several weeks, my attitude shifted from not wanting to go into looking forward to my groups. The staff is excellent from the front desk to the counselors. Deshonda was great and my counselor Dannis helped me work through a lot of personal things that I’d been avoiding for years, to my surprise. All in all I feel like I truly got something out of this program, groups were more based on personal dialogue rather than just putting on a video and leaving the class to watch.
