West Milford, NJ | New Life Recovery Center, located in West Milford, New Jersey is a private alcohol and drug rehab that offers treatment for a variety of substance abuse addictions including alcoholism and opiate addiction. They offer flexible outpatient addiction therapy allowing patients to live at home while receiving regular treatment. Additional levels of care | Treatments Payment Options | I started IOP at NewLife back in January & just recently graduated this month. The positive impact it had & made on me .. I honestly don’t think I could’ve done it without my counselor Sam & the owner Bert! From the rip they made me feel super comfortable & not judged. As soon as you walk in they’re nothing but super helpful & supportive. It’s an awesome/wonderful environment & very welcoming with skilled staff. When I started I recently just had given birth & I was super nervous thinking it would be impossible to make it to groups 3 times a week but they gave me the option of doing it through ZOOM which not many places do, right there that was like a huge weight lifted off my shoulders. My counselor Sam created a truly supportive and safe place that helped me focus on my recovery and help make positive changes for me in my life. Highly recommend!!!

Seriously the best clinic ever! I recently switched due to moving and it’s the biggest regret I’ve had yet in my 8 years of sobriety. I had no idea how lucky I was going to MCAC. They truly love you and treat you with respect. I’d give anything to go back here over where I’m at now. Complete 180. I went from the best clinic to the worst and regret it. If you don’t have to leave here, don’t do it. If you’re looking to get clean, go here! I promise. If you’re willing to do the work, this place WILL help! I have 8 years of sobriety thanks to them. Scared for my sobriety at the new clinic.
Miss everyone here so much!

I would like to share some thoughts about Mountainside and especially our sons recovery coach Christina.
Following his completion of a 28 day in-patient program with another provider he enrolled at Mountainside Chappaqua. He is in their Outside Patient and Recovery Coaching programs. Our son and Christina have been working together for about five months. They talk daily and meet weekly. A few weeks into the program Christina began doing weekly calls with my wife and me.
Our son works with various therapists, clinicians and other staff at Mountainside. He is complimentary of the entire organization and their contribution in helping him understand his addiction and providing recovery support. My wife and I only work with Christina.
Christina is EXCELLENT. She balances professional counseling, insight, accountability, great communication skills and timely follow-up. Having walked this life herself she is highly skilled and relatable but it’s never about her. Christina cares. She has built valued trust with all of is. My wife’s and my weekly calls provide an update on his progress and any open issues. She reminds us that he is accountable for his own recovery and keeps us in our lane. Most important she has helped keep our sons recovery moving positively forward day after day.

Straight & Narrow is not perfect, but neither is anyone. They have they're flaws and imperfections just like I do. If the place was absolutely perfect people would find something to complain about. It's just how it goes. I had a warm bed, hot food, and although the groups were limited, it was my choice to attend more than I was scheduled to go to. So that's what I did. People complained about group time and then complained about down time because they were bored.. I guess it's a journey that is decided individually. I opted to go to every group everyday and every opportunity I had I would volunteer for things to do to help. I was rarely bored and always looked forward to the weekdays rather than weekends because I liked the groups. They didn't keep me longer than originally discussed when I arrived as others were saying. But then again, maybe others didn't participate to their potential or maybe others didn't take the initiative to show their counselors what their intentions were. Some people want to get better and some people are court ordered to be there. The. Some, like me, were court ordered but wanted to get better. I completed a relapse prevention plan to present to my counselor and constantly asked her for more work books to better myself so she knew my intention was authentic. I guess I just felt that it was important for me to clarify my experience there because nobody pointed out anything positive, here's something. THE PLACE GAVE YOU ANOTHER CHANCE AT LIFE, IF YOU DONT TAKE IT AND IMMERSE YOURSELF INTO YOUR RECOVERY, YOUR DOOMED TO REPEAT HISTORY. The only shot we have is inside of us, the four walls doesn't mean a whole lot. it's your personal motivation.. Ask yourself what you want more and why. Thank you straight & narrow for the opportunity to take advantage of your program and I couldn't be more pleased with the majority of the staff. My counselor, Emily, was a super helpful person and important role in my early recovery. She challenged my answers, which I respect, and she also made me be accountable for my own recovery. She Cares, that's ultimately how I feel about her and I can't thank her enough. I would recommend this facility to anyone who wants recovery and isn't worried more about the color of the paint or what mattress they have, that person probably doesn't want recovery to begin with....

Nurse complaint
I normally have okay time and usually walk out healthy. Not in this case.
I don’t have any expectations of anyone here so I start from a clear slate
I did however, have an awful time emotionally and physically.
“Washington” a 5’5 bigger Hispanic guy assigned on the second floor was assigned to be my nurse.
Right off the bat he asks weird questions about my personal life and says my ethnicity was “weird”
He also shoved zofran in the iv without patience, when normally it takes 2-5 minutes so the patient doesn’t feel dizzy or nauseous!
Looking at my phone and making weird comments / also asks my friend on the phone if she could help me get home. How insulting and rude is that to ask a random stranger that sort of favor. Very strange guy
Discussing with other nurses/ coworkers about MY health and my experience and manipulating words I was saying
Involves himself in situations where he isn’t needed (ex: when asking about my transportation, claims “why I can’t just figure it out” and asks for personal non health related questions
Interrupts people
Get emotionally agressive
Mid conversation when discussing future health plans, walks out and says he’s frustrated. Welcome to the health care community buddy you aren’t built for it and I strongly recommend that he finds another profession that’s more suited for him. I wouldn’t recommend him for children nor adults.
Being at the hospital automatically makes your day sucky, a little sympathy and kindness never hurt anyone. Except this guy and his ego
When I said he was being inappropriate and rude he asks “how am I being rude” I think enough has been said
I don’t know if it was his ego getting hurt or something but he is not made for the job.
He continuously had an attitude towards me and my mother on the phone!
To the overlook medical center team you need to update your staff and have mandatory personality tests. He doesn’t have that natural cheer or any warmth that a patient needs on their worst day.

I was in the hospital twice back-and-forth for two days in the ER last week . The first day wasn’t so bad but my second day experience was horrible. There is people specifically employees that are going into patient’s purses, and stealing from them. I was in the ER last Wednesday and my experience has probably been the worst experience I’ve ever experienced being at a hospital. I’ve been at overlook hospital for years now and never had an experience like this. I’ve had my ID my insurance my credit cards and debit card stolen from someone at this hospital and I believe it is an employee more than one to be exact. I no longer want to go to a hospital where there’s no cameras in my room that’s very uncomfortable because if somebody can safely go into your bag and steal your personal items that means they are most likely doing it because there’s no cameras and there’s nobody watching them. It sounds like an inside It sounds like an inside job and the only way someone is confident in doing that is someone who works for the hospital.I have filed a police report, and I asked the security to look in the cameras to figure out what exactly happened. It’s been a week now and I’ve yet to find or get an answer so that tells me everything I need to know within this hospital. I will definitely be taking this to corporate.

This rehab program tak | Treatments Programs Payment Options | RRCOC I am forever grateful for. This place guided me on the right path of recovery and I am still sober to this day as a result. No relapse not even a thought has crossed mg mind. I realized how valuable family is and this short time we have on earth to really cherish the things that matter.
My life has dramatically changed for the better and I can’t express my gratitude for this gift of life. Thank you to all the staff there for being so kind, warm, welcoming, and supportive. Cathy was an amazing counselor and guided me to St. Christopher’s for a longer term program.
I was at RRCOC on October 25th, 2022 and today is February 25th, 2025.
I remember being lost at a train station off the NJ transit, and a man asked me where I was going, and I told him a rehab. He drove me 1 hour to RRCOC and dropped me off in the front instead of me getting a hotel room for the night because the facility wasn’t available a certain time to process a new intake, which could have been a bad idea for me if I went to the hotel. That man named
Tom was sober 33 years and proactive with AA. My entire outlook on life changed at that moment. Time seriously flies. Thank you for everything.

Have you ever been sick and tired of being sick and tired? Go to RRCOOC! The facility, the staff, the counselors, the nurses, the back of house hospitality team, everything is there rooted in helping you achieve your goals. Whatever they may be. A lot of people are at different timelines in their recovery journey and it being my first in patient I was confused / concerned about how I would get the care I needed, but with the structured group schedules, the work/preparation/treatment plan with your counselor and the help of the RSS staff AND (most importantly!!!) your willingness to truly lean into all of the above, you will find within the first few days you have a tailored wellness retreat in your hands. You will discover things and rediscover things that will make you excited and curious for life again. A life with so much more to offer you! I truly LOVED everything!! Well, I think my one complaint is that the outside pool was not open since I went in October. Obviously kidding! A huge shoutout to EVERYONE there, but also my counselor Nicky, who truly blessed me with an improved blueprint of my life! I am forever grateful to her and the tough love approach because at the end of the day, everyone in that building is on your side and are rooting for you to TAKE YOUR LIFE BACK!!! Well, now I’m crying and I’m going to see the Wicked movie tonight! Thank you for listening!!
