The nurse Sydney is absolutely the sweetest person you'll ever meet. I went there over a year ago and and she remembered me and made sure my stay there was comfortable. Unfortunately I've stayed at quite a few other facilities and NEVER was treated with such respect and kindness that she treated me with. She deserves a raise lol! On the other hand..I made a very good friend in my time staying there..we kept in touch and we were both struggling. I was trying to be a good girlfriend and put my own health aside waiting waiting for him. I now know know that I need further assistance than just detox . He's not even. Being a decent human being/and/or being nice about it. I tried called the Sterling location 5 times where my friend is. She told me there is in IN FACT beds available but the person on the phone wasnt so friendly..almost demeaning. He said "just because there's beds available doesn't mean there's beds available". I was very confused...almost like he didn't want to help me save my life. And he was just annoyed to be answering the phone. He told me over and over in an annoyed and stern voice as I was in tears to call back at 9am. This place is amazing for someone struggling with a mental illness, at the time, I had depression, and this Mental Health Service helped me a lot. They have a great vetting process so you'll almost never meet a client who sucks, PHP was a great time even if a bit draining, and IOP was fantastic, all the techs, Landon, Travis, Zach, Mo (Hope you do well in Jerusalem!), Fahim, Antoine, Eli, Phil, Darryl were all fantastic and a key part of my recovery. Weekly grocery trips and catered lunch at the clinic made sure I never went hungry, transportation to 12 step meetings was appreciated. Allen was an absolutely fantastic therapist to have, but all the therapists: Tess, Bella, Megan, Curtis, Caitlyn, Andrew, and Allen are all fantastic and really help break down issues & education in a way that's noninvasive and actually helpful. The facilitators who aren't solo therapists Chris and Ervin are all wonderful and kind. The other staff members who make it all work in the background: Chuck, Kevin, Celeste, Jahila, and Kevin were very helpful and always around. While I don't know all the women's house techs, the ones I did interact with, Rea and Alexis were fun and full of wisdom. And finally, shout-out to Kelce and Jeff for handling all the administrative mumbo jumbo that let's the clinic and housing run smoothly. And Brandon, the maintenance guy, you are an elite asset and it was wonderful knowing you. If I ever relapse, which I hope I won't, this would be the rehab I'd want to come back to. I did my IOP here and from day one, I felt supported, understood, and genuinely cared for. Courtney and Mika are incredibly knowledgeable and compassionate—they don’t just go through the motions; they truly invest in your growth and wellbeing. The groups were meaningful, engaging, and actually useful in real life, not just “textbook recovery.” I learned tools that helped me rebuild structure, confidence, and balance in my life. The counselors are top notch and, more importantly, genuinely caring—they listen without judgment, remember the details, and offer practical, real-world guidance. Group sizes are small and manageable, so you actually get personal attention. The vibe among patients is supportive and motivated. Most folks are there because they want to be, and that makes a huge difference. I’ve participated in IOP, outpatient groups, individual therapy, DBT, CBT, and trauma-informed work. The DBT class, in particular, was a life changer—the skills are concrete and I use them every day. Over my time at Hazelden, I’ve gained tools to rebuild routines, reduce cravings, improve relationships, and maintain sobriety.
