I’m so proud of myself for making it through one full month of treatment at The Manor PHP. This month hasn’t been easy, it’s been uncomfortable, emotional, and exhausting in ways I didn’t expect, but I stayed. I showed up on the hard days, faced things I wanted to avoid, and chose healing even when quitting would’ve been easier. Every day here has required courage, honesty, and strength, and I can finally see that I do have those things inside me. This month proves that I’m capable of growth, of commitment, and of fighting for myself. I’m not where I want to be yet, but I’m farther than I was and that alone is something to be incredibly proud of.

I didn't know what to expect coming here as it was my first time at a rehab, and I was pleasantly suprised within hours of checking in. The staff are an incredible group of people; they really do care about you and your recovery. More than once I had techs, nurses and counselors go out of their way to help me and my peers out. There is always someone to talk to for help; I was never turned away when I really needed something. The food is good (shoutout to Lonnie), you will always have clean laundry and linens and a bed to sleep in. If you need help with legal or insurance this place will work with you to get you squared away. Make no mistake, you will have expectations here and be held accountable. But if you are serious about getting better and willing to put in the work I don't think you'll find many places better than White Deer Run. I look forward to returning as a guest speaker in the future!

This place changed my life from the inside out, yes it was hard, but it was exactly what I needed to internally transform through Jesus Christ and many men and women in Christ from this facility that helped push me to find my own life. And now that I have had this experience from New Life for girls I have completely turned my life around, I was a drug addict for 3 years almost lost my children to my parents and now I am a life coach I work full-time I am getting my own home and my own new car and I am thriving in the Lord and it is all 100% due to this experience at this facility. Residence sucked and a lot of the rules and regulations were pretty stupid and petty. Group punishment was a big thing and that didn't really help simulate the "real world". I washed upon the shore of Maryland Addiction Recovery Center with my life in utter shambles. Having gone to a dozen treatment centers in three years, hopeless and entirely broken would be a sufficient summary, but that would be an understatement. Addiction is not something I foresaw for my otherwise promising life on paper, but it reared its hideous head throughout my early 20s. The prospect of a career, college education, reunited family, sense of community, or merely happy and sober existence felt dead and gone.
As a last-ditch effort, my family and I decided a Long-Term Care facility might give me a shot at the life I always envisioned for myself. While I wasn't sold on the idea, I begrudgingly agreed to make the 250 mile drive to Maryland to embark on the unknown, terrified and uncertain. I remember thinking to myself: "If this doesn't work, I don't know what will".
Without delving into miles of details, this coming February I will celebrate 5 years sober, and I can confidently say that without the dedicated staff, patient-specific care, community-living arrangement, structured environment, vocational program, tough love, and rigorous personal accountability instilled at MARC, I do not know where I would be, or if I would be alive.

Program is better than what people tell you. You don’t realize how could you have it until you transfer to a different program. My name is Reginald Howard I have to say that Gaudenzia help save my life. Understand at the time I was admitted I wasn't in the best space when it came to mind set. I was newly released from jail and I knew in my mind that I had to do something different and I had been court ordered to at least attend a treatment facility. I called and was greeted by a lady that I like to refer as Miss Also Brooks she skillfully navigated me through the process of admission. Additionally I met the staff began the process and was able to work with them as they began supporting me through the recovery process. After observing them I realize that they were sincere about the recovery process and I began to draw from that experience all that I could so my life could be better. Additionally their zeal for life became contagious and my desire to help others was reawaken so I took some advice especially from my counselor who had recognize that I could assist others going through the same ordeal as I. After having a conversation with Mr Guy I was put on a path to further my education and began seeking opportunities in the field. I thank Gaudenzia for opening their doors and helping me help myself.

This place saved my life! From the time I walked through the door just three days after my suicide attempt I felt SAFE and with folks who understood what was going on. Once home I realized that I wasn’t 100%. After three weeks home I returned on my own. Today I can proudly say that I have helped several others enjoy the life after The Hog! The Harbor of Grace helped me gain valuable tools to help with my depression and SI. The staff taught me that it is OK to not be ok and that it is more than acceptable to ask for help in a time of crisis. I would recommend that any first responder going through a difficult time with eother substance abuse or mental health issues to buy in to your own treatment and allow Harbor of Grace to assist you in that treatment.
