With the help of Christian, we were able to make that happen. Other than some initial insurance issues (due to us residing in NC), which Christian helped us navigate, it was smooth sailing and they even came up here to pick him up! The entire staff is super friendly and helpful, and remained in contact with me throughout his entire 90 day program. I've seen such a change in my brother. And he has been so happy with his new life and network there, that after his commencement, he has decided to stay there for their "alumni program" and remain staying at their sober living facility which provides him the freedom to travel, have his cell phone and get a job, all while having the safety net of his network and groups. I was at the old facility and my PC family was amazing. I met so many people wonderful souls and have amazing memories with them. I'm constantly telling ppl about this facility. There's only 4 of us, myself included that has been sober since they left there. Unfortunately alot of ppl went bk out in their addictions and are no longer alive and some are bk in prison. She befriended "Will" long before he was willing to seek help. He was never alone in life because she checked on him regularly and gently coaxed him into getting the help that he desperately needed. Approximately 7 months after reaching out, Will made the decision to better his life by accepting Peggy's offer of help. Once his decision was made, Peggy instantly started moving mountains to get him the help he needed. She was in daily contact with his family offering her advice, supplying helpful contact information, and even talking him through his fears when they became too great and he wanted to run. As a result of Peggy's unrelenting quest to help Will, he has received a Certificate of Completion from the Midwood Addiction Program where he received counseling, housing, a sense of community, independence, and gradually took control of his life again. A little over a month after graduating, Will has found employment and is ready to start this new healthy chapter in his life. When asked if he ever talks to Peggy anymore, the answer is "yes! she's full of valuable resources.". How do you thank someone who has saved the life of someone you thought was lost forever? I had some bumps along the way until I met Evie Dillard. She was so helpful to me by giving me extra resources to get ready to exit treatment. Shamar Marquis 1 year ago Lemme tell you about the housing situation 1st. I read the good reviews and the horrible and the bad kinda concerned me. I can tell you the bad was not only exaggerated but most just someone salty and spreading total BS. There are no rodents and I've never been to a house that had zero bugs not even a fly before I got here, not even my father's house. Ok so these 2 floor some with a upper smoking/ lounge deck are nice nice! 4 bedroom 3 full double sink bathrooms , two with walk-in shower , I bath / shower and a half bath by living room. It's fully stocked with any pans coffee pot anything you need. The staff are some of the nicest ppl and you absolutely get to know them. You are treated pretty much how you treat them. Just be kind! Midwood center was the one I went to and the staff there are always awesome. If you need something just speak up, I've seen ppl come through and expect everyone to be mind readers. I would list everyone I love at Harmony but I'm horrible with names but there are standouts. Christine, Crystn (sik). Byron,Lisa, Miss Gail ( Amber always pushing DBT therapy 😬) Bobby, the tech who's name escapes me that calls everyone "Big Dog) And Lastly but firstly Miss Peggy who is the sweetest person I've ever met and she saved my life just by getting to know me calling my phone to talk to someone else. She had my back and actually drove to Salvation Army and helped me get insurance, talked me into Salvation Army in first place and bought my broke ass two packs of smokes She is absolutely a gift from God and deserves to be the highest paid at Harmony! I appreciated being challenged and I learned skills I hope to keep for life. Working with the somatic therapist they have at Pasadena was beyond amazing. A once in a lifetime experience that I could not have thought to even ask for. I loved the art therapy as well. There is also processing time two-three times a week with the group, and therapists are always available if you need extra one on one support. I really appreciated that unlike other places, Pasadena does not let any one patient dominate the entire processing time. Staff makes sure that everyone who wants to share has equal time and space, that no triggering details are discussed, and that it is supportive without going on forever or taking time away from skill learning or other groups. I really appreciated having an evening option that works for people with 9-to-5 jobs. My only suggestion would be to better accommodate evening participants with dinner or more substantial snack options, similar to the daytime programs. After a full workday, it’s a big commitment to attend several hours of programming, and having food available would make it easier to stay focused and present. And I’m telling you right now he is a blessing to this place. The program director is also a counselor that has been there for a while and moved her way up.
