I have great rapport with my current counselor (and I pray she stays!), which makes me feel open and at ease in our meetings. The current head nurse has also been great. (Will be 6 years this November 2O25)... I've had time to process a whole lot. The counselors are very caring. They're really helpful and kind. They want to see you do well. The nurses are super friendly. So are the doctors. As far as wait times, well, TBH, that all depends on what time you get there during the morning. Like me for example. I go daily now and I try to go before 6am, if I get there before 6am, and I don't have a UA, I'm usually in and out in about 5-10 minutes. In my opinion, this is one of the better clinics in the Hagerstown area. They all want to see you do good and stay clean and sober for the rest of your life. Not saying you'll have to be here that long, but, just enough to get stable to where you feel safe and comfortable with yourself. I also wanted to say that I've had about 4 or 5 counselors since I've been going there and IDK why the counselors keep leaving or getting let go. The one I have now, she seems pretty nice. Also, FYI: As of June 1st 2024, their hours will be changing. The cutoff time for dosing will now be 12 Noon, instead of 1pm. I think it's because of the lack of counselors and nursing staff. It would normally be a 5/5, but things have REALLY changed. Physicals every 3 months, I don't understand why...and they have a HUGE turnover of nurses and counselors. I understand that the main reasons behind them is basically immaturity and lack of responsibility. It's sad that some of us recovering addicts have to fall victim to bad eggs as well. We get a bad rep because some just want everything there way and don't care about rules and regulations. I could go on about the people I've had to deal with at methadone clinics over my 25 plus years on and off methadone. The one thing that I keep in my mind is that it's up to me to make the right decisions and take care of my treatment. The people that complain about the fact that you can go up and up with no one caring at the clinic is no one's fault but yours. I'm sure that at a certain dose you had to see doc to go higher. Let's be honest....you wanted to be high and you were probably doing other drugs or trying to get off of benzos and that's why you supposedly had seizures. It all goes back to the individual and his or her decision to do right. So do your research before you get off of other drugs and be honest with yourself and the staff. Maybe then you'll get the treatment you think you deserve. I have to say the PA on duty was excellent, his name is Jeffrey Haines..he kept me informed along the way from the minute he saw me until I was discharged a few hours later. Great personality and explained everything fully so I understood what happened and then what to do after being discharged he even (thank god) gave me 2 pain pills from the hosp pharmacy because my pharmacy was closed when i was released and I definitely needed those pills in the middle of the night!! Special mention for a few wonderful nurses that helped me and were so kind and thoughtful and caring throughout the visit..Nurse Karol (with a K) beyond sweet and caring..she made me feel so comfortable and was so very nice!! Nurse Adam, great guy (nurse or tech?) also kept me informed and checked on us periodically. Nurse Lori who discharged me..her information helped me tremendously..being nervous you forget to ask things but she gave me all the information I could possibly need and what a wonderful personality!! She even brought the pain pills as soon as they came in from the hosp pharmacy..those I had to wait for but she was great checking up on those for me. And also a special mention for Brenda, she came around and took my ins information etc..very nice, not her usual job..but assured me she will call and get the insurance straight..been having issues with a 2ndry that most billers don't understand...she knew what I meant and will call and handle it for me! Thank you to everyone from signing in (nice guard I never saw your face..thanks for wheeling me in!) to leaving..(another nice guard!) I am a teacher and actually suffered the stroke while in front of my students. It was one of the scariest moments of my life. Fortunately, the school nurse and AP drove me to BMC. After a stint in the ER, I was moved to the ICU. My nurse, Joe, gave me hope and stayed nearby for most of the night. He even stayed beyond his 12-hour shift to make sure the transition went smoothly and moved me within the ICU so I was close to the main desk. I elected to have serious cervical surgery performed at Berkeley County Medical Center because area renowned neurosurgeon Dr. John Caruso is a neurosurgeon on staff. I'm totally satisfied with the surgeon, surgery, nurses, staff and everything else. Berkeley County Medical Center provided better care for me than any of the big city hospitals ever did. The staff and therapist care and are friendly. If something did happen people are imperfect and things happen, use some patience. I finally connected to a therapist at this place. I've always needed help for decades and thought I could do it on my own. Like I said I couldn't connect to any therapists I had in the past. My therapist has totally changed my life. It’s been a year since I last saw Melissa and every day, I’m reminded of the good that she’s brought to my life. Melissa was the very first counselor I ever went to and in my fear, I was met with grace, kindness and a listening ear. Because of the way Melissa intentionally listened and asked thoughtful probing questions, I felt seen, heard and known. It has been the privilege of my life getting to be known by Melissa, especially through the pandemic. No matter how full her schedule was, I knew that entering into our time together meant I was walking into a safe space. Emily Cunningham was the first therapist I tried at Brooklane and I had a good vibe on the first session. I've gone through several therapists and Emily is the first therapist I've had in years who I look forward to sessions with. I did have a negative experience with one of the psychiatrists and asked to transfer to someone else. The process only took an approval and I was put with someone else for my very next session. Staff cares and gets what it’s like to be an addict, and a lot of people in the program are genuinely trying to get better. The long haired cook Blue is the BEST. He was my favorite staff member while I was in there, super professional, and he makes great food. And the woman running the place is a sweetheart. The staff consistently monitored and supported us, and I truly felt protected and cared for throughout my time there. They provided great meals, wonderful snacks, group orientation and activities, and even a TV for entertainment, which helped make the days feel more manageable. Every employee I interacted with was helpful in so many ways and always willing to listen and support us. One of the things I appreciated most was being able to connect with others and make friends along the way. It reminded me that none of us are fighting these battles alone.
