I sure as hell didn’t end the cycle and reached out for help I wanna publicly thank some people, but I don’t know how they feel about their names being out there so I wanna thank R - R- J - L - you ladies are my angels . On a random afternoon, I decided I need to get help and these women were extremely busy at their job and they stopped everything they were doing when they saw my face . I learned a lot. There could be some improvements. They usually address any issues. I got maybe an hour to relax each day; So much homework. You spend 80% of the time listening to others personal therapy sessions. "Staying silent and still for 6 hours a day listening to people tell their darkest secrets, with 3 solid meals a day and a comfy bed"-- about sums it up. TechNextLetsGo 2 weeks ago My experience at this facility was truly life-changing. The amount of individualized trauma work available, including neurofeedback, ART, and EMDR made a tremendous difference for me personally and played a huge role in my experience and growth while I was there. As far as the facility itself, the food really isn’t bad, the rooms are adequate, and the charge nurses are absolutely fantastic. One area that could use some improvement is consistency in communication, as some of the information provided during the initial intake and in the welcome packet differed from the rules and expectations once I arrived at the facility. But the thing that stood out to me the most was the Unbroken program. Unbroken is specifically designed for active-duty military members, veterans, and first responders. We meet once a week for our own therapy group, and I genuinely cannot say enough good things about it. There is something incredibly valuable about being in a room with people who can truly relate to many of the experiences, challenges, and trauma being discussed. It can sometimes be difficult to explain certain experiences to someone who hasn’t lived through that environment. In Unbroken, there is a level of understanding among the group that makes it easier to open up, communicate honestly, and work through things together. The program also gives us opportunities to participate in equine therapy and a challenge ropes course as a group. Those experiences help build trust, camaraderie, and connections between members outside of the traditional therapy setting. The Unbroken program is even working toward having its own dedicated building, which I think speaks volumes about how much potential this program has. Lastly, I have to recognize the head of the Unbroken program, Bill Reynolds. Bill is absolutely phenomenal. He genuinely cares about every person who comes through the program and goes above and beyond to provide the best support and care he possibly can. As a 30-year Navy veteran himself, he brings a level of understanding and relatability to military experiences and trauma that is incredibly valuable. If you are active-duty military, a veteran, a first responder, or know someone who is struggling and could benefit from a program like this, please spread the word about Unbroken. This program made a lasting impact on me, and I truly hope more people learn about what they are doing. If anyone has questions about my experience, please feel free to reach out to me. The staff were compassionate, professional, and genuinely invested in helping people understand themselves on a deeper level. The Unbroken program challenged me in ways I didn’t expect, but it also gave me tools, insight, and a new perspective that I’ll carry with me long after leaving. This wasn’t just a treatment program for me. It was an opportunity to reflect, heal, reconnect with myself, and begin moving forward differently. I have worked in this field and a number of the educational concepts were known to me already. Nonetheless when I did the experiential work it was powerful and transformative. It was good while I was up in the isolated 1st step but eventually graduated down to the old motel in downtown wickenburg. I ended up sneaking out to circle K to buy alcohol and told any staff I didn’t like off. I was immediately kicked out and never given any information about follow up treatments. I’m in my 40’s now and still struggle with anorexia/bulimia but can manage it better and actually eat without having to vomit it all up. Consider the fact I was in multiple abusive inpatients that took attorneys to get out. Here we get to go outside and the doors are not locked. It doesn't feel like a hospital, just a big house. I have been able to process the trauma from this place & when I was re-united with my family after a year of treatment centers I finally healed. There are some bhc's that are amazing, while others are awful. Tina the therapist & the psychotherapist & the relaxation room therapist & tai chi instructor are amazing, kind people. Inpatient facilities are usually cold locked hospital floors. I loved sitting outside every morning, and I even got to swim with an NG tube. While I didnt make friends here I still had my happy moments along with my bad moments. also thank you to the kind nurses, they truely make a difference. I attended summer of 2023. That being said, I was desperate to recover. I think that, more than anything, is why I had such a positive experience. I also participated in as many optional challenges as possible. I opted in for survivor's week and family week. Honestly family week changed the way my husband and I treat each other and helped us both understand what the other was experiencing. Crystal Ramirez 2 years ago well I was here and then later five years later Cerritos college hospital Claudia Black treatment center again for two months and it was only a one month program I did it twice in a row because I knew that I needed it. It helped me a great deal however I did not take their advice and run from my family as fast as I can as soon as I got back and never look back. If I had followed their advice I would've had a 10 times better life with less trauma and abuse from my own family. I love their treatment center you get what you put in and you need to be paying attention and learning it's not party time there. The drama therapy I believe is stupid and self inflicted trauma I don't believe reliving trauma is good for anybody but the rest of the program and learning about the roles that you play in your family and how that shaped you into the person you are now and what you can do to have a better life it's all smart, good stuff and worth learning. love to claudia black.
