Before I chose to travel to wickenburg, I truly thought that "I would always have my addiction controlling my entire life" Entering the door to the facility, I was angry, dismayed, and even sad. However during my stay at GP, I was not allowed to run away, avoid, or even isolate (which was my MO), and I am grateful that I was not allowed, but gently (as the G in GP) says guided to work on myself first tenatatively, increasing to full bore a week into my stay- and never let up completely. I am still "all in "for my own recovery almost 4 years later, and again I am truly grateful for that, and to GP and all the staff/participants who helped/continue to help me at this juncture in my life. My experience was what I needed however I left before the onion was completely peeled back. Fortunately, I was able to return back to MBH. I'm really bad at keeping in touch with people. The codependence, shyness, and other addictive behaviors have made me feel like I just don’t fit in. I am working on that by getting to meetings on a regular basis. I really miss EVERYONE I met while there. I sincerely hope you all are well.

Good morning! I hope this email finds you well. I wanted to share a five-star review for The Meadows, with special mention of Bill Reynolds and the Unbroken program for Veterans and First Responders. From the moment I engaged with The Meadows, it was clear that the Unbroken program was something truly special. This program allowed us to be seen in a safe space where we could discuss shared experiences that aren’t commonly encountered by civilians. It did a fantastic job of recognizing the uniqueness of our cohort, while still maintaining our place as active members of the broader community. Thursdays were always my favorite day at The Meadows, and I felt immense pride wearing my black Unbroken shirt as part of that community. Bill Reynolds deserves particular praise for his leadership and genuine commitment to the wellbeing of every participant in the Unbroken program. His guidance, empathy, and practical approach helped foster trust and connection within the group, making it possible for us to explore our experiences openly and constructively. The Meadows staff, in general, were exceptional. The environment felt safe, supportive, and inclusive, and I left feeling seen, valued, and part of something larger than myself. While I am now post-discharge and continuing my recovery journey, I carry forward with a renewed sense of purpose and belonging. Today marks exactly one week since I departed, and I am feeling absolutely great. Since my arrival home, I have actively attended both in-person and online 12-Step AA meetings. I have already secured a sponsor, am working closely with my local Behavioral Health team, and remain fully committed to my recovery, one day at a time. I’m grateful for the foundations laid at The Meadows and for the opportunity to stay connected with that incredible community. Thank you to The Meadows team for everything you do. Your dedication makes a lasting difference in the lives of veterans, first responders, and their families.

There are no words to express my gratitude to the incredible program the Meadows offered. Everything from EMDR, neurofeedback, counseling, group therapy, 12-step every night, obstacle course, gym, pool, pickleball, art therapy, equine therapy, lectures, acupuncture, yoga, sound healing, meditation, and incredibly nourishing meals surrounded by incredible people. And of course, the most difficult but transformative of all - Survivor's Week. And then Family Week. Your program is truly extraordinary and it helped me save my own life. All of it provided a safe container within which I could do the very deep and very painful trauma healing and recovery whose pain had been trapped below the surface for over 60 years. Thank you for creating such a safe, loving, supportive and kind community in which to do this very, very difficult and painful work. My life will never be the same. Thank you.

I was there in 2004, addicted to prescription meds from all the psychs I saw before going. All the while I had severe anxiety, bipolar depression and trauma from my mother's death, codepency. I had a mini strike while there due to reaction of meds given but I can say the counselors and staff and program, including inner child work helped me achieve where I am today. My higher power has always been God and during that time, it was clear that I was in a battle with the enemy for my life. I left at Christmas. I am a published author be cause of my experience. Hoping it's the same for others but if you go in with the negative attitudes here, you will not get well. You have to work the program and my life was worth the money I spent. In fact those that think it's a money pit probably still aren't well. ♥️ I continue to refer people to The Meadows. I should mention if I had listened to my counselor outside The Meadows, I'd probably be dead because he didn't recommend it. Do what is right for you. No one else knows how you feel but you and God.

I found my experience at Rio retreat to be extremely powerful. I have worked in this field and a number of the educational concepts were known to me already. Nonetheless when I did the experiential work it was powerful and transformative. Just a couple days later I continue to find new insights and connections with the childhood issues that I need help addressing. The staff was remarkably insightful and gifted. The program information was up-to-date and directly relevant to my needs. Intake was easy even though I signed up at the last minute I received a lot of support getting everything taken care of including figuring out transportation etc. etc.

I was first greeted and shown actual care by Vickie. She works at the front desk, and genuinely showed care and compassion when it came to getting my first appointment booked. She helped place me at a time that worked best for me and didn't stop until she was able to. Every time I've gone in, she's been so kind and friendly, always saying hello. Having someone like Vickie at the front desk who actually cares about the people going there is irreplaceable. I was placed with Shellby, who is an amazing and talented therapist. She radiates a safe space and immediately made me feel comfortable. Shellby has never seemed judgemental or demeaning with anything I've brought up, and is so knowledgeable in the things she says. I don't think I would ever be able to replace her. Thank you both.

I was fortunately able to stay & heal at Meadows Ranch. My stay was in August 2018. I still had IOP & more, over a year, and today I don’t suffer the shame, fear, anger & hatred for a body that just wants to survive, with a mind that blinded by its needs & the overwhelming brainwashing of our commercialized society. While the directors are awful & there is an abusive 'trauma therapist' (she yelled at an 11-year-old to grow up) but this is the nicest inpatient I have been to. Consider the fact I was in multiple abusive inpatients that took attorneys to get out. Here we get to go outside and the doors are not locked. It doesn't feel like a hospital, just a big house. I have been able to process the trauma from this place & when I was re-united with my family after a year of treatment centers I finally healed. There are some bhc's that are amazing, while others are awful. Tina the therapist & the psychotherapist & the relaxation room therapist & tai chi instructor are amazing, kind people. Inpatient facilities are usually cold locked hospital floors. I loved sitting outside every morning, and I even got to swim with an NG tube. While I didnt make friends here I still had my happy moments along with my bad moments. also thank you to the kind nurses, they truely make a difference. I attended summer of 2023.

I was at the Meadows Ranch this past summer, June-July of 2023. I have only good things to say about the program. My experience was life changing. That being said, I was desperate to recover. I think that, more than anything, is why I had such a positive experience. I also participated in as many optional challenges as possible. I opted in for survivor's week and family week. Honestly family week changed the way my husband and I treat each other and helped us both understand what the other was experiencing. We both agree that it saved our marriage.

My daughter just completed her 45 days at the Claudia Black Center and it was a life changing experience for her and the family. The treatment team's priority was my daughter's well being and that message was clear when hard conversations were had with her and with us as her parents. The family work was invaluable. They don't tell you what you want to hear they tell you what you need to hear. Not everyone can handle that and it wasn't always easy but it was worth it. Trust the process.

well I was here and then later five years later Cerritos college hospital Claudia Black treatment center again for two months and it was only a one month program I did it twice in a row because I knew that I needed it. It helped me a great deal however I did not take their advice and run from my family as fast as I can as soon as I got back and never look back. If I had followed their advice I would've had a 10 times better life with less trauma and abuse from my own family. I love their treatment center you get what you put in and you need to be paying attention and learning it's not party time there. The drama therapy I believe is stupid and self inflicted trauma I don't believe reliving trauma is good for anybody but the rest of the program and learning about the roles that you play in your family and how that shaped you into the person you are now and what you can do to have a better life it's all smart, good stuff and worth learning. love to claudia black. I have a signed copy of it's never too late to have a happy childhood still with the other Ip in the program having signed every page with beautiful things to say. Too bad none of those phone numbers are any good anymore or I would be calling them now over 20yrs later. all good people. when Hospital staff repeatedly tell you that the only way you're going to have a decent life is to break ties with your family and never look back, you should listen. it's true.

I believe that treatment is in accordance to the subject being treated, (CBC can take you to the stream, but they can't make you drink). Some feel they received their treatment, that warrants recognition. I spent 40 days here, met some great people, and learnt to focus on what empowers me. I am leaving this review to counteract the nasty reviews. my time at CBC was a great experience for me.
