When I came to the Women's Refuge, I was at the end of my rope holding on for dear life. Through the Biblical counseling, support groups and the unconditional love demonstrated by the entire staff, I was able to receive healing from my past. I now live in freedom because I know my identity is in Christ. They saved my life. I have a hope that is found in Jesus Christ. This is a wonderful, safe place to experience healing.

Our community is so blessed to have a place like Hibiscus. As a volunteer of many years there, I've seen so many youth who have received so much support and extra help preparing for adult life. Florida has so many fantastic benefits for foster kids, including for when they reach age 18-21 and move on from Hibiscus. By then they've had a chance process, heal, and also have had the opportunity to work, to build their resumes, have some savings, etc. But places like this don't come to exist automatically, it was founded by many concerned citizens to be a place of refuge for our youth. Thank God for Hibiscus and all the dedicated staff who make all this possible to help so many get on their feet.

Kids need a safe place to live and grow. While his/her home life may not have been perfect and ended up here, the staff on hand have tried to give each child here just that. Even if you are not up to the challenge of being a foster parent donate what you can to let our childern ( yes I said our childern, because I community raises a child) know someone is there for him/her unconditionally even if he/she has been so hurt and pushes back.

I have been using NH in Vero for over a year now. There was only one time they had a miscommunication on who had checked me in, and I wasn't, so I sat for 45 minutes. But besides that I'm so grateful for them, they aren't bubbly people by any means but, serious. Because mental health is serious and can be very challenging for both parties. Honestly I have received good psych care from here but I still think there should be some improvements, because nobody/nothing is perfect except for Him. I was constantly having some confrontations (physical and verbal) with some of the kids there, especially with a kid named Hunter, and I think the director should have investigated it instead of brushing me off. Although they couldn't handle my bad behavior anymore after 10 days, I still received good psych care despite my bad behavior. I can’t speak to how Ambrosia is today (I did look through the reviews though and it seems as though it’s gone downhill a lottttt in the last few years with mainly negative reviews whereas the older ones are all positive. Unfortunately I’ve been to a lot of treatment facilities but Ambrosia was by far the best - like 100x better. I actually loved it there a little too much as I went through their inpatient program 8 times. That wasn’t because it wasn’t an amazing program it was me that was the problem. I constantly self sabotaged and didn’t know how to function in the world sober and essentially became institutionalized. (The last time I went they told me it was the last time and I was black listed and wouldn’t be allowed to come back because they realized I had an unhealthy comfortability with the facility. I truly did consider it my home. Every time I went I really did try my hardest and the staff did everything in their power to help and support me including sending me to an outside trauma therapist who I worked with for 4 years and she helped me immensely. I wish I could say ambrosia was the last place I went to but it took a lot more rehabs for me to finally get out of my own way. It doesn’t seem like any of the staff is still there (I went the first time in 2011) but they truly cared and helped keep me safe from my own self and I’ll forever be grateful. I don’t think I would be alive today if I never went to ambrosia or if I didn’t go as many times as I did. Actually I know I wouldn’t. So this review goes out to everyone that worked there a long time ago. James, Ashley, Mike, Jordan (especially you - you’re the reason I never spent a single night on the streets and you never gave up on me). And all the techs from that time too. Shauna, Nicole, Ro, Tonia…. I owe you all my life. 🩵

Over all I am thankful for the hospital. The staff are very friendly. This place helped me when I couldn't find help. Also a formal apology. I learned from another rehab through therapy that I called port saint lucie for help. They didn't call me. And I don't get to tell help how to help me. There was help I needed that I couldn't get but I do belive the staff did everything they could to help me and help me find a place to go. I'm not writing this for in case I come back. I womt be back. Not because it's a bad place, but after 25 years of therapy and rehabs, what is there left to do? I have the tools. My problems are the problems it's the solution I've been using. Drugs and alchohol. That's solution doesn't work anymore. So for what it's worth. Thank you. J Rhoades sighning off

You have to stay ahead of appointments, prescriptions, medications, etc. Dr Kepfer is experienced and knowledgeable psych Dr. she will guide you in the right direction. As a patient you have to follow through with orders. Mental health is difficult. We have to be proactive about our self care and educate ourselves on diagnosis. Medication is a “helper.” I, you, all patients must learn about your disease. Group therapy is an excellent way to learn about yourself, triggers, coping mechanisms, side effects, etc. If you’re not willing to help yourself, you can’t expect your dr to fix everything.
