Helen, GA | The Hickey House is located in the serene North Georgia mountains of Helen, Georgia. I had a rough start due to my inability to accept the true issues associated with addiction. This was in the mid-90s where the Hickey House offered me the last chance to find true recovery. Tom and Eliane were like 2nd parents in a time when addiction had kicked my butt, but with their loving and amazing ability to get at the root of addiction in a strong spiritual and professional manner. Thank GOD every day for this program and staff. I completed then a 2 year program and I can proudly attest to the effectiveness of their humanistic approach to living without drugs and alcohol. My stay at the hickey house was awesome! A very down to earth and in tune approach to recovery that gave me the chance I desperately needed to rebuild myself in an environment that was both nurturing and structured with strong basis on AA traditions and principles. The house has a great reputation in the local community and is involved in many different surrounding outside AA meetings . The part I liked most about it was the personal and accessible level staff and residents communicate . My comfort level was through the roof ,which in return allowed me to thrive in my recovery . I don't see a better place available for a person to get the tools to get sober and remain sober. I'd most definitely recommend this place to anyone who IS SERIOUS about giving their selves a chance at happiness in sobriety

Toccoa, GA | The Pittard Clinic provides evidence based opioid recovery via medication assisted treatment (MAT) for adults in Toccoa, Georgia. They’re situated at Falls Road roughly three miles southwest of Toccoa Falls, six miles north of Currahee Mountain and 1.5 miles southwest of downtown Toccoa. Since founded in 2007, the clinic has been providing high-q | Treatments Programs Payment Options | When I went back in August and September, I had nothing but good things to say (hence the 2 star review). I am currently 6 weeks postpartum and my OB's office made the appointment because I am having a hard time with anxiety and PPD with thoughts of self harm. When I came in to my appointment today, I was told I had a balance, which is fine, no big deal. I made the office aware that I could only make a small payment due to being out of work and my husband works part-time so money is currently very tight. I made my payment and was then told by an employee in the back part of the front office that today's visit would have to be charged at 100% because it's a new year and I would be totally responsible for any fees incurred. I know it seems silly to be frustrated or upset by something like this, obviously I expect to pay SOMETHING when seeing a specialist. But, that said, when I am made to go to an appointment because I've been contemplating killing myself and part of the stress is the money issue, which I just made the front office aware, then maybe telling a patient something like that isn't the best way to go about things especially given that this is supposed to be a place where people go for their mental health, not to add to the stresses they already have. Needless to say, because of this I cancelled my appointment and walked away as quickly as I could, trying not to bawl my eyes out. I would not recommend Avita to anyone anymore, not after this experience.

If I could give this place a zero I would. Went to help a family member that agreed to go if I sat up an appointment. They refused to help I called administration they were clueless, sent me to another unit and got sent to voicemail without any call back! This place is a joke if your trying to help family. Crisis stabilization unit SAYS on there website self referrals or family referrals but apparently they don’t abide by there own rules.

Horrible experience at this so called doctors office! Front desk workers are beyond rude and have a constant attitude! Tried to talk to Dr. Seabolt about it he blew up like a 12 year old teenager yelling at me what do you want me to do about it. If you or a family member is in need of help DO NOT GO HERE! These people aren’t worth it!

I was scrolling the web and I always check the reviews of places I have physically been seen at. I'm a single father now and i havent been able to post as much as i'd like. When I saw some of the comments they really well....pissed me off. Dr Craddock is one of the most caring DR/Pshyciatrist i have encountered in my recovery. I started in 2008 in Seneca,SC and quickly moved to Recovery Concepts with Dr Craddock. Just to put it all plainly. There was never a time anything was offered to me that i didnt have to take the assesment for or bring up first. He never said try these THATS BULL. They don't just hand out any medications if they are deemed nessicary and you bring them up the administer an assesment on you and you may or may not have ADHD or anxiety. I in fact do have and will always have SUD, anxiety and adult ADHD. I will say it again for those in the back. He is a great DR/Pshciatrisrt but they dont make you take the medication and they certainlly dont bring it up. Hope this clears the BS away from him.

Patient Advocates are not located here, instead the Security folks will give you the number to the front desk lobby at the Dekalb VA only to be chastised with taking your information down but you will not receive a call from a REAL Patient Advocate. Also Community Care is stating they are backlogged with referrals 30-90 days behind and receiving co-pay billing mail because Community Care gave incorrect or missing information on the insurance. Veterans don't pay co-pays if they're more than 70%. Medications are now "non formulary", pending, or now missing on the VA gov website. Been called an "uppity patient" for requesting and advocating the best quality care, being a former military medic, you'd expect it because that's what you gave to others. You will be denied GYN care if you request it each year, now at 5 years. It is sad having to constantly call them to do their job every 6 months and having to deal with new interns at Derm (always a different intern doing their residency)! VA Website has changed to now you can't secure message your Provider, Pharmacy, or any Referral Clinic you currently see for refills or general info, when you try to reply using older reply messages it will state the message is "too old" to communicate your needs...further hindering your care systemically. They do not care about your mental or physical well being, just their job security.

I don't even know where to start. I came into Angel House 18 Months ago a hopeless addict that knew absolutely nothing about life. When I got here I had not a dime to my name, my clothes were scattered from Atlanta to Alabama, I had never held a job successfully, or had a healthy relationship in my life. Now I have been working as an Accountant/Office Manager for a solid year, I am financially stable, have my own house and car, but most importantly I have HEALTHY relationships with my family and friends that grow stronger by the day. Non of that ever felt possible until the Angel House made me realize how capable I really am. This place changed it for me, beyond anything I could have ever expected. It brings me to tears to even think about. I have NEVER had people care about me the way staff did. I never once felt like a case in a folder, and was always made to feel that what I had to say was important. I felt like someone who's voice mattered for the first time. Brooke Boyette would be running around the office trying to put out so many fires, help so many people at the same time, but not one time did she EVER tell me she didn't have time to talk and that still holds true today. Since I graduated I still call her on a daily basis and complain about life, but guess what... shes there to listen. This program does more than just show you how to live life clean. It shows you how to love again, let others love you, and gives you a family that you can hold onto forever. If your willing to fight for your life and come out on the other side you quickly realize that nothing is personal and its all spiritual. So that brings me to the director Angela. This lady spent hours and I mean HOURS on end fighting for my life when I didn't want to fight for it myself. I say hours because I was pretty stubborn and had a hard time opening my ears when it was time for me to listen. Angela would sit and talk with me no matter how long it took, till she was sure that I had heard her. She didn't have to do that. She could have left when the office closed at 7 "I had her there late MANY nights", she could have not answered her phone on a Sunday when I found out my mom relapsed after 10 years sober and stayed on the phone with me for over an hour, she didn't have to show up in the middle of the night when we needed her, she didn't have to fight so hard for ME and MY life but guess what... SHE DID!! Not only did she do it for me but continues to do it for every women that steps foot into that program. Her compassion for the work she does is beyond anything I have ever witnessed before. She showed me how to be a better person Spiritually, Mentally, and Financially. These women are hero's and a grateful recovering addict can quickly realize the lengths they go to for ALL women that come through the program. So if your ready and need to go somewhere that is going to truly change your life. You can find it at Angel House as long as your ready.

Dahlonega, GA | Out in Dahlonega, Georgia, is the Waypoint Center. It’s a Christian residential program for men struggling with addiction. The faith-based program usually lasts for 12 months and focuses on inner healing and biblical teaching to help clients break the cycle of addiction and reconnect with loved ones. The Waypoint Ministry is a nonprofit Christian | Treatments Programs Payment Options | I had a highly disappointing experience at Hickey House Sober Living and would not recommend it to anyone seeking a supportive environment for recovery. The living conditions are subpar, with issues like leaking ceilings during rain, which makes the space feel neglected and uncomfortable.
The cost is another major issue—$275 per week for rent plus an additional $30 for food is exorbitant for the quality of the accommodations. The rooms are not worth the price, and the food provided is low-quality, often cheap, bottom-shelf products from Walmart.
More concerning is the lack of compassion and support from the staff. After a single relapse—a common challenge in recovery, as addiction is a relapsing disorder—I was immediately reported to my probation officer without any opportunity to seek alternative support or treatment. This punitive approach led to a probation violation and further consequences, which felt unnecessarily harsh and counterproductive to recovery.
The environment at Hickey House fosters drama rather than healing. Staff and residents openly gossip about and mock those who struggle, creating a toxic atmosphere. There’s also a clear "clique" culture—if you’re not part of the favored group, you’re treated differently, which undermines any sense of community or fairness.
For those serious about their recovery, I strongly suggest looking elsewhere. Choose a sober living facility with better conditions, fair pricing, and staff who are genuinely passionate about supporting your journey.

If you’re looking for a Christian-based program, this is one of the best places to consider.
From personal experience, I attended this program back in October 2016 at the age of 20. At that time, I had no direction or discipline in my life. Waypoint Ministry introduced me to both—and so much more.
During the first 30 days of the program, participants go through a “blackout period.” During this time, we weren’t allowed to exercise, as it allowed our bodies to recover from years of drug use and unhealthy lifestyle choices. After 30 days, we were allowed to begin exercising, which was a turning point for me.
It has now been eight years since I graduated from the program. I still stay in contact with the men I attended with, and I cherish the fellowship I experienced there. One of the most impactful parts of the program for me was working in the thrift store. It was a fantastic learning opportunity that taught me soft skills I still use today. Because of that experience, I now enjoy visiting thrift stores and looking for treasures, knowing how much thought and effort goes into sorting donations, stocking the storefront and clothing racks, and even selling items online.
Sadly, I’ve lost a couple of friends over the years because they chose to return to their old lifestyles. However, I’ve also witnessed countless examples of broken men entering the program and leaving as spiritual giants.
Waypoint Ministry opened doors for me to participate in missions trips, youth camps, and even spreading the gospel in prisons. As of 2025, I’m still sober and stay connected with a few people from Waypoint.
If you had told me years ago that my life would turn out this way, I wouldn’t have believed you. If I could sum up this program in one word, it’s love. I came to Waypoint broken and scared, but this place gave me the opportunity to slow down, examine my life and upbringing, and find peace.

Jane is amazing and welcoming and so is Heather. They always remember me and ask about my children, they even offer to watch my infant when I have to bring him for a minute or 2 while I dose. It’s just a small help that makes being a single mom and bringing him to the clinic a little less stressful. (I only come 2 times a month) but nonetheless they do everything they can to help, like every business it is a money making business though so there isn’t charity, you have to follow the rules and expectations and as long as you go by that you’re in & out.

Gainesville, GA | Turning Point Recovery Resources is an alcohol and drug treatment center for adult men in Gainesville, Georgia. They have a 12 month residential program that helps you and other guys overcome drug addictions. It’s cool that their treatments are based on the 12 Step model. They don’t just treat your obvious physical symptoms. Instead, they also | Treatments Programs Payment Options | I have alot of experience with Turning Point. My son has been here three times. He does great while he is there - and then he leaves. He is usually back into full blown addiction within three months. Freedom from addiction is a choice and a lifelong commitment. If you dont want to get sober, and just want somewhere to be for a signature on a paper or to avoid prison, turning point or nowhere else will get 5 stars from you. I was born into addiction and know enough that you are the one making your own choices. Do not tell me Turning point isnt a good place. I have watched my son go in twice (this is the third time) with NOTHING and come out a different person - with a job, money and a vehicle. They give you freedom and treat these guys like the men they are-not the children that so many rehabilitation programs do. If they weren’t helping my son learn how to survive in real life and time - he would not be there again. Im pulling for you Michael and so is Chance! You are going to get it this time!

Penfield has saved my life. It’s taught me so much about addiction and how to cope with all the struggles it can lead to. The counselors are such amazing, kindhearted people. They truly care about making a difference for everyone there. They have went far above and beyond anything I could’ve ever imagined. I highly recommend anyone seeking treatment to attend Penfield.

I will recommend this Christian facility to everyone! There is a family & home type atmosphere that melts even the toughest heart. I learned so much to use in our ministry & God continues to abide with me & teach me new things daily. Penfield uses knowledge, education, personal experiences, fun, day to day work ethics while encouraging personal pride in oneself. I was amazed at the chemical products made available to our young & older alike. Chemical dependency comes in many forms. Social media, mental indiscretions, and so many things sway us today that I feel Penfield helps me understand it from a personal point of view. We attempt to reach out in a good way to those in need & I use so much of the written classroom lessons. But, it has taken me aback at how easily the world can pull us back down. God’s word KJV, shows me the real light that we must cling to daily. 🙏❤️
