You may be there forever, but they take good care of you. I was able to see the doctor, do labs, get pharmacy, get appointments scheduled and multiple Community Care referrals to Oschners for specialists. If I only needed to just see my doc, labs, and prescriptions; I would have been there for less than two hours. The new book shelf with free books is amazing. It was previously books scattered across a tiny table. The staff are some really wonderful people. They want to build a relationship with the Veteran. Five stars for the Baton Rouge VA. The Man who greets people and helps guide them at the front desk is a professional. He is always kind and helpful. A woman named Mrs.Mead has helped me so much. She has connected me with rehab facilities that help veterans who struggle with mental health issues and addiction. My life would be so much worse if I didn't have the help from these people and the Baton Rouge VA.

I’ve lived in a bunch of different sober living houses in Lafayette and journeys house by far had the most structure and was the most serious about recovery. When I lived in Oxford the house manager tried to sell me weed the day I moved in, the day I moved into journey house me Chris got me a job and got me to IOP and a AA meeting. Dr. Monette is a great psychiatrist. I've been seeing him for about 11 years & he has helped me tremendously. He is very caring & genuinely listens. I hope he never leaves. The staff is friendly also. The counselors are a different story from my experience.

This place has been a life changer for me. The head director and other alumni are more than willing to help you in your time in need. They tell you what you need to hear and don't beat around the bush about it. As with anything in life you ONLY get what YOU put into something, including mental health. I WAS skeptical about embarking on this with Beacon only because my inpatient stay many years ago with them was forced. Everyone that I have encountered in my 3 day a week day program has changed my perspective. From Mrs. Lisa, Alyssa all the way through Ms. Jessie and Patricia. I'm enjoying my days a lot more.

We have a family member needing help the last 4 months and has finally been put in a hospital that wants to help. Third hospital and we finally have a diagnosis (thanks to St James) and a team of professionals that are dedicated to making sure patients receive the best care possible. We can finally sleep at night knowing our loved one is where she needs to be and the staff there is working hard to give her her life back. She will never be the same but that’s a good thing, her mind was torturing her and the staff there is teaching her how to live with her disease and prescribing the medicine that will help stabilize her. St James is the best place if you have any mental health issues, the absolute best.
