The place is great but they don't do mat. I would have stayed long term but I've been on subs for 10+ years. When struggling to get sober one should not have to struggle with medication in order to receive treatment. This is my opinion. Other than that it's a great facility.

I can’t say enough good things about RBH!! I showed up in October 2016 spiritual bankrupt Not happy to be there. Slowly but surely the staff and camaraderie between the residence help show me a a whole new way of life. Helped show me a new way of thinking an a whole new way of looking at the world. Gave me a solid foundation in the sober community in the lakes region which is where I still live today. I still feel very much part of the RBH community. I still have a lot solid friendships thanks to RBH and I love seeing the guys around town and at meetings. Lotta good memories!! The experience I had at the Riverbank House changed my life forever in so many ways. I arrived at RBH in February 2016 and begrudgingly agreed to stay for 28 days, I ended up living there for almost 4 years because I just didn’t want to leave. The bonds and friendships I formed there still continue to this day. I will forever be grateful for the opportunity at a new life, and how to truly enjoy that life, that was provided to me by the Riverbank. My time at RBH was filled with compassion and laughter and memories I will always cherish. I’ve made a lot of mistakes in my life, but going to the Riverbank was certainly not one of them. I am grateful for every single me ever of the Riverbank brotherhood that I got to know during my time there, even that guy with the red beard.

Sending our son away from home when he was completely “stuck” in life with his anxiety etc, was one of the hardest things we ever had to do, and the hardest thing he ever had to do. Thankfully we put our full trust in Summit Achievement with Mike, Nick and so many of the guides and staff who made it the tremendously life changing experience it was for our son. He has grown into an amazing young man who is about to graduate college. He has learned to navigate life when it becomes difficult, so that he can move forward in a stronger and more confident way. My husband and I too learned so much about our role as his parents and ways to support him. Over the years he has even spoken about some of the tools he learned at Summit and how it changed his life. Sometimes it can be with humor when he is quoting something he learned at Summit but always with thankfulness as he has literally said as hard as it was that “Summit saved him”. We are ever so grateful for his experience there and the unbelievably dedicated staff the makes Summit what it is. Anne M

There are not enough positive adjectives to use to describe our Summit experience. I would give them 10 stars if I could. They exceeded every hope (not just expectation) that we had for our experience. The communication, the quality of the staff, the concern showed to our child, the quality of the therapy, EVERY single thing was done with kindness, compassion, and excellence. Above all else, Summit always put the needs of our child and our family first in every decision and every conversation. I can’t imagine a better place to care for your child.

Mountain Valley truly changed my life forever. I came to them overcome with anxiety and hopelessness that made life feel impossible and worthless. The bubbly and sweet girl I once was completely hidden by my mental illness. But Mountain Valley brought that happy and optimistic side of me back, and gave me so many more invaluable gifts and insights. At Mountain Valley, I learned so much, including skills to help me manage my intense mood fluctuations, insights about common patterns in my anxiety, how to tackle my fear head on and even see it as a tool rather than a weakness, and I learned when and how to properly reach out for help when I needed it. But more than anything, at Mountain Valley I learned what it truly meant to be loved. You will never find a place as loving as MV. From the supportive and enthusiastic staff to the other residents who I now call some of my best friends, everyone in the community truly cares so much for one another and wants to see each other succeed. Surrounded by so much care and affection, I learned how to love myself and be optimistic about my life once again. Even being almost 2 years post grad from Mountain Valley, I still feel constantly supported by the MV community and I know I always have a home in beautiful Plainfield, NH. If you or your loved one is considering Mountain Valley, I truly could not recommend it more!!!

MV was the first treatment center I ever attended. I was terrified going in—I had never been away from home, and I was struggling deeply with depression, OCD, and anxiety. I had graduated from high school in 2023, taken a gap year, and was preparing to start at Franklin & Marshall College when I hit my rock bottom. Together, my parents and I made the difficult decision that I needed more intensive support. Looking back now, those five months at MV became the most transformative period of my life.
I met incredible people—both residents and staff—who made me feel seen, understood, and supported. During my time at MV, I was able to heal and reconnect with the core of my values. Of course, there were moments when I felt frustrated with the program; treatment is a vulnerable space that asks you to confront your fears, your patterns, and the safety behaviors that have led your life. But MV offered me the safety, structure, and guidance I needed to work through that discomfort. They gave me the push no one else could. MV helped me to realize just how much I needed consistency, caring accountability, and firm but compassionate support.
Today, my OCD is so much better, and although my anxiety is still around (it’s always going to be a pesky little friend), I’ve learned how to work with it instead of letting it control me. I’m currently living in Portland, ME, in a transitional living program where I’m taking classes at SMCC, working at Anthropologie, and learning how to support myself. To see the progress from a year ago—when I couldn’t even leave my room—to where I am now is incredibly empowering. And best of all, I've realized that the strength I needed was already within me; I just needed some help remembering that it was there. None of this would have been possible without the foundation MV helped me build. I am forever grateful to everyone there. It genuinely changed my life.
P.S. Here’s a photo of me at the peak of Mt. Moosilauke—best hike ever!

This isn’t a bad long term rehabilitation program if you are looking for a program that is Bible based rather than Bill Wilson’s “big book”, but it’s by no means perfect despite all the 5 star ratings. Granite Recovery might be better for long term sobriety. It has a higher success rate. In all honesty, I did graduate but I probably should have been hospitalized for exhaustion afterward. “Being part of this recovery group has truly changed my life. It’s given me a safe place to be honest, to heal, and to grow. I’ve found support, understanding, and hope here—things I didn’t even realize I was missing. Thanks to this group, I’m becoming a stronger, healthier version of myself, and I’m learning that I’m not alone on this journey

Groups is AWESOME, I've been coming here for about 2 years I think. They are MORE than just a place to get your medicine and run, they are understanding and you can ALWAYS ALWAYS be honest with them. They will help you and be there for you to the best of their ability as long as you show up and participate. If you really want this, if you show that you care about your recovery, they show they care maybe more than you do!. The Group setting is a little nerve racking at first, but everyone is open and wants to listen and help, you just have to let people into your heart, its the only way ❤
