My experience at Alina Lodge was truly life-changing. When I arrived, I was at one of the lowest points in my life, unsure if recovery was even possible for me. The staff, clinicians, and facilitators welcomed me with compassion, patience, and genuine care. From the very beginning, they created an environment where I felt safe enough to be honest about my struggles and begin the difficult work of recovery.
The clinicians at Alina Lodge are incredibly knowledgeable and dedicated. They helped me understand the underlying causes of my addiction and gave me the tools I needed to start rebuilding my life. The facilitators brought wisdom from their own experiences and guided our groups with empathy and understanding. I'm writing this for the creative person who thinks rehab is gonna be all lectures and coping skills worksheets and compliance training...or new agey feel good enabling BS. (because I went through that at another place…and I’m a feisty, rebellious performer, who fell all the way to hell through my addiction.)
Moving Mountains is an adventure based program. And that's not just "fun." that’s a major part of the treatment…hiking, skiing, ropes course…Healthy risks…Movement. self Mastery. Making something…learning that I can DO things that make me feel better…They teach you how to deal with crap on the deepest levels, to get it out. So like…in my case…there is less to want to escape. Easier to stay sober. Joy…peace…fun. Stress: life. Tools
Sobriety doesn't have to be gray and grim. It can light up your brain as much as getting high did. I mean that…kinda literally. Skydiving…for real…if you do the work…it’s part of the program. At completion.
It's not a "creative arts program." BUT: creative work is an option. For me it was a key. A Big key. I had no idea how much my creative shutdown and grief were feeding my addiction…really, almost no idea.
I am a singer. And I saw people transform through singing (like me…), guitar, piano, making beats, DJing, poetry, dance, voice work...even building comedy routines. You could literally see someone's eyes and posture shift over days.
The staff are Actually client centered. At Moving mountains, that means you're treated like a human being. Not a diagnosis and not a compliance project. They help you remember want you want, connect you to your dreams again.
They don't “punish you into right thinking.” That’s still a very common approach, I’ve heard from so many people in recovery meetings.
But there are boundaries and clear expectations...because that's what actually leads to an easier, fun life. I was not the easiest client. I had to learn to be patient and respectful…not just to others. To myself.
It's also not 12 step only preaching club. Super strong recovery culture...but you're allowed to explore what works for you, (there's even a Zen teacher who comes!) The housing is for real beautiful and in beautiful communities. Not "nice for rehab." Actually nice.
It's weird to miss rehab. Like a paradox. But I do. My time at Moving Mountains has been one of the greatest gifts of my life.

As soon as I parked, John met me outside and asked If I was Dave. He then showed me around and Introduced me to Jason. Outstanding first impression. Jason and John diserve a ton of credit. Every team member I met gave me positive energy. All counselors From OT "Over Time" Anthony. Great conversationalist to Daniel provoked though and discussion to Rob Genuine heart and motivational. To Danni. Really cared and listened. To Tyler who was so real. Nicole really was fantastic with Fmla. And Jamie really cares and has an ultimate presense of good. I went to the ER because I was experiencing extreme vertigo and wasn’t sure what was happening. I was dropped at the door and tried to walk in myself but became very dizzy. Two healthcare workers immediately saw that I wasn’t ok and quickly got me a wheelchair. I was escorted to registration and in minutes I was taken in for a EKG. The tech brought me back to waiting area but was waved over to go right to triage station. I was then brought to a curtain type room and within 10 minutes a PA was there gathering all my information as to what happened along with all my symptoms. Within minutes again a nurse came to put in IV and the phlebotomist to draw blood. About 15 minutes later I was escorted to the CT waiting area and taken very quickly to get CTs done. After that I was taken back to CT waiting area and within minutes I was taken back to a curtain room where I was greeted by Dr Pai who gave me another exam and we discussed my results. This was my very first time going to Morristown Memorial Hospital ER and I have to say I was quite impressed. My entire stay was very efficient and every person I interacted with was nothing short of competent and caring. I was transferred to several different places very efficiently and every escort was very friendly and caring. I was back in my car going home in less than 2 1/2 hours. That is truly amazing! Thank you to All of the healthcare professionals!!!

I want to express my deepest gratitude to the incredible surgeons, doctors, nurses, nursing assistants, and technicians at Morristown Medical Center who took care of me during my recent nine-day stay following bypass surgery.
Finding myself in a situation requiring heart surgery was scary, overwhelming, and painful. Entrusting your life into the hands of a medical team is a heavy thing, but nearly every single person I encountered went above and beyond to ensure I was well cared for, comfortable, and healing properly. Having stayed in hospitals before, I was struck by how hard this team works together. Despite the inherent chaos and fast pace of a major medical center—where it's easy to see how mistakes can happen—the overwhelming majority of the staff treated me with compassion, respect, and skill.
However, I feel a strong obligation to highlight one specific incident shortly after my surgery that hospital management needs to investigate immediately.
While I was in my room right after surgery, heavily medicated, semi-conscious, and extremely vulnerable, an older male technician entered alone to perform my daily EKG. Given the compromised state of patients who are fresh out of major surgery and heavily medicated, no technician should ever be left alone in a room with a semi-conscious or unconscious patient without a nurse present.
Over the remaining eight days of my stay, I had daily EKGs performed by different technicians—all of whom were polite, respectful, caring, and professional. But this particular individual's behavior and the lack of supervision surrounding him was deeply concerning. I strongly urge Morristown Medical Center’s patient relations and risk management teams to review staffing policies and look into this technician's practices. Allowing unsupervised access to vulnerable, heavily medicated patients is a major liability risk and, more importantly, a safety concern for patients.
Despite that singular, disturbing incident, I am truly grateful for the care I received at Morristown Medical Center and the dedicated medical team that helped save and rebuild my life. I hope to never find myself in this position again, but I remain immensely thankful to the many healthcare workers who cared for me with such dedication.

I can’t say enough good things about Jonathan from Excel . From the moment I started working with him, he made me feel genuinely comfortable and welcomed, which is not easy when you’re dealing with something as personal as addiction. He has a way of creating a safe, judgment-free space where you can actually open up without hesitation.
Jonathan is extremely knowledgeable, and it shows in how he approaches every conversation with care and intention. He doesn’t just listen—he really understands, and he’s very mindful of your feelings and personal experiences. I felt respected and never rushed or dismissed.
Out of all the counselors I’ve worked with in drug and alcohol treatment, Jonathan has been the best by far. His professionalism, compassion, and attention to detail truly set him apart. I’m very grateful for the support he’s given me.

East Stroudsburg, PA | Water Gap Wellness has substance use and co-occurring disorder treatment facilities in several states, including their facility in East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania. The programs they offer are accredited by The Joint Commission, and they accept most major insurance carriers. Currently, the facility offers partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient | Treatments Programs Payment Options | The other reviews pretty much cover everything I’d want to say about Water Gap. Even though I relapsed soon after I completed the PHP/IOP program, I left in a clearly better state than when I came in. I thought my therapist (Bart) & psych (Dr. Gomez) were great advisors and caretakers for me establishing a meds / mental health foundation that has helped me keep afloat as I continue working at my recovery. The group therapists were generally great too, although many I had left while I was there or later. The food is decent & the rooms in the Inn are OK but quite nice at the lodge/houses. I generally liked the techs & nurses, although some were mediocre or worse with their efficacy, attitude, and how they treated the clients. Your experience with the other clients will vary dramatically and there will be lots & lots of drama since there are so many clients there living together. However I did make some closer acquaintances while I was there. They do a good job hosting events and entertaining you but not the best job at keeping clients safe from bad internal actors (aka other unstable & dangerous clients). Be very careful when you initially come in as different case managers, therapists, and psychs may not treat you nice or effectively or even have your best interests in mind (i.e. semi-arbitrarily kick out people / pressure people to stay longer who imo obviously should leave and/or try other treatment options). If you’re looking for inpatient treatment, WGW is a potentially good option to consider but judge what you’re getting into first and while you’re there so no surprises detail your recovery.

Pretty good. I don't think I'd want to do the long term sober house there but the ranch really rocks. The food is unreasonably good and the staff avoids ridiculous treatment plans (for me anyhow). I'm pretty sure some drama was going on there but you know, welcome to Water Gap

to put it simply: I loved my time at the WGW inn during the course of my treatment, the rooms and bedding were comfortable, the food was good, and there was a lot of activities to do at night if we didn't want to use our devices (which is allowed by the way!), and if we didn't want to stay in the inn, we were able to leave and go out to movies, food, etc, which was a big plus in my book! Only downside to it is that they will wake you up at 7am for groups and will keep coming into your room every 5-10 minutes to make sure you are up, and the techs will stand over you while you take meds, but you get used to it.

In the program you find out a lot about yourself and the traumas that caused you to make some horrible choices. You also find out ways to deal with real life issues. The entire staff has helped me to save my life I will forever be grateful to all involved. I truly believe in the sister hood
I don't know if I can give a special thanks to anyone So once again thank you so very much Good News Home for Women
I will find a way to pay it forward

I can’t say enough wonderful things about High Focus. When I first came here I didn’t know what to expect or really didn’t think it would help me but I was wrong. High Focus has helped me in more ways than I could ever expect. Every single staff member that works there was so helpful, supportive, and understanding throughout my time there. Throughout my time here, I have learned so much knowledge, coping skills, and life skills that I will use in my life. One thing I especially appreciated and loved about High Focus was how the program was structured as during the PHP portion in the morning, everyone would come together in the large room and then during the IOP portion in the afternoon, patients ages 18-30 would go in the smaller room for the first two groups while adults ages 30 and up would be in the larger room. For the final group of the day, Mental Health and Substance Use patients were separated into two different rooms as Mental Health would be in the larger room as Substance Use would be in the smaller room. I really appreciated that because it allowed people to be around others who were experiencing similar struggles and could also relate to what they were going through. For the first time in a long time I truly have a positive mindset and feel like I have the skills and tools I can use when I am having a bad day or a bad time in my life. I am so grateful that I found High Focus and that I did this program. I highly recommend going to High Focus in Parsippany because it will truly help you. Trust me you will not regret it!!!!!

His nurse Ashleigh was an angel in Hokas. She was so attentive to my father and was also an amazing advocate for his care. The level of trust Ashleigh instilled in us was priceless while navigating my father’s death. Ashleigh was so in tuned to my dad and able to “treat” him so appropriately in his final days. Ashleigh gave us a safe place to ask questions, share observations, and participate in his care. while her expertise supported my father in his last moments, she also was regularly checking in with us to make sure we were well supported during this difficult time. Newton Medical Center is not spoken about enough when it comes to our area in North Jersey. After a traumatic birth with my first daughter, I changed doctors when I got pregnant with my second and the only option was to deliver out of Newton. I'm SO grateful they do! My c-section with Dr. Simmons (Atlantic Health Women's Group - Hackettstown) was so easy - including recovery. The nurses and staff in the maternity ward were INCREDIBLE. From the moment I walked in to my scheduled appointment to discharge. I was re-admitted twice after for post partum preeclampsia and the amazing level of care never quit - every nurse and doctor I came into contact with was caring, kind and made you feel like you're the only patient in that hospital. I can not recommend Newton Medical Center enough, especially for maternity care!
