The Ohio Recovery Center is truly a remarkable and welcoming place. I travel to various recovery centers giving presentations, and this one stood out for its warmth and kindness. The staff went above and beyond to make me feel at home, which I deeply appreciated.A special shoutout to Ashley Staley, the treatment advocate and alumni liaison, who greeted me with open arms and introduced me to the incredible team there. Her hospitality and genuine passion for helping others were inspiring.Kudos to the entire staff at the Ohio Recovery Center for creating such a positive and supportive environment. I went here for a year at a young age of 12. The Marsh Foundation help me in so so many areas in my life. I was 7-8 grade, and I chose to repeat the 8th grade here and get caught up in school. I was at least 3 years behind in almost every subject. My school back home just kept passing me. Best thing I could have done for myself. I learned table educate, better in school, worked in the fields potatoes, tomatoes, worked in the Cannery too. Miss Lupe, and Miss Helene I remember. Great, Godly women. Getting our allowance and walk up town with our money we earned. Stop & Shop I always went there. Now seeing it through adult eyes, I appreciate it a lot more. Thank you, Theresa Taschler

I realize that each of us have our own unique experience. But I will say for the VA that if you go to the trouble of filing a complaint in Dayton about any questionable or just bad treatment, that they take your complaint very seriously. They also hold the department or agency at the center of the complaint responsible. In regards to my complaint not only did the VA call me directly but a representative of the department concerning the complaint asked me to come into meet with them so they could hear directly what changes I was wanting or needing. Sometimes we lose people, and when that happens these words dont mean much. Its the worse experience of our life. None of us ever want it and we all dread it. In those cases there isnt any words that help. But for current situations outside of those circumstances like mine, my experience has been positive. Ive found 1 or 2 Drs that need to go back to bed-side manner school. One of them the class about fraternization and compassion and another about the privacy rights of secretly recording visits without the patients knowledge or consent. My VA office is in Lima Ohio. The facility is spotless and my appointments are always prompt and on time. Never have I waited uncomfortable periods of time and most times Ive barely set down before their calling my name after checking in. I will say hgowever it was a mistake to remove the kiosks. I realize that older veterans may have troube with technology but those kiosks can be designed with ease of use in mind for EVERYONE. 4 STARS for LIMA VA

Now, I have become her testing project. How can refusing a patient a medication that Works be how someone conducts their practice. Variety of mental health services available on outpatient basis. 24 hour advance notification required for appointments unable to be attended by consumer. Failure to provide advance cancellation results in policy of non ability to reschedule future appointment. Future appointments must be on a "walk-in" basis, depending on chance of available time openings during certain hours. It is very important and necessary to make every effort to keep or cancel scheduled appointments in advance. Especially known unable to attend or have no intention to keep the scheduled appointment. There are normally consumers waiting or needing appointments cancelled in advance. Fees depend on income and sliding scale. Medicare and Indiana Medicaid accepted, also private insurance accepted with prior arrangement. Psychiatric Outpatient provider available for medication needs weekly when necessary at this location when possible.

I like how she NEVER suggests the ER for my unless of course, I was serious with a plan and/or intent to hurt myself or others, which so far hasn't happened yet. Instead, she schedules me in for an appointment so we can talk about it. Any other psych provider I talk to doesn't even attempt to help me. They just say something along the lines of "You need to go to the ER and probably be admitted" how is locking me up with my thoughts supposed to help? She understands my thoughts are just thoughts and I just need someone to talk to when I feel a certain way. Been going here for years. Have worked with Dr. Katz, Valerie Mumaw and Dr. Brickner. It was a little rough getting used to Valerie after Dr. Katz but with some patience on my part, we gained a better understanding of each other and now I've found her to be a caring and patient provider. I was going to this clinic for 7yrs. I eventually found a point in my life I was ready to taper off the medicine and live my life completely free of mind altering substances. Well not completely free yet. I enjoy my cigs and coffee lol. They will try to counsel you and help you from living a potential terrible lifestyle addicted to opiates. If you want to come off drugs you can. You have to put your mind to it.I started tapering from the methadone even by attempting to lower my dose just 1mg a medically advised method. Which I would recommend. I went from 70mg to 45mg medically advised then I decided to taper faster. The tapering process obviously helped. I know this because I was taking methadone and other opiates in the past and had to quit cold turkey do to being incarcerated. I m grateful for this place as it helped me. I hope it can help the next person.

So I started seeing a therapist about 15 months ago because I just wasn't where I needed to be in life. I had made some questionable choices and because of those I was heading down a dark road, much darker than I even realized at the time. I had no idea what to expect; who else would be there, how is this person going to judge me, what if they see me at the store, are they going to be thinking, really how much longer is this hour? I am going to get asked questions I don't want to talk about, what if I start crying, is that going to be uncomfortable? And every other possible scenario went through my head on the way there.I have never once felt judged, or looked down upon, or felt uncomfortable. I was able to talk about what I needed to without having to explain myself every time I wanted to say something. I was able to ask what I wanted without feeling ashamed of myself or my situation. My therapist didn't push for more than I wanted to share, she was able to give me articles to read, and topics to research. I wasn't told to do this or that, it was always a discussion, and we were able to talk through different situations that could be related to mine.I have learned so much about myself and how to react when situations occur, and the reason why some of my reactions are what they are. I have learned that my mental health is just as important as my physical health and my emotional health. I have learned it's ok to have an opinion and to not sway from those. I learned that just because I ignore the problem it doesn't go away or get better, I have learned to face uncomfortable conversations and that not everything has to be explained.I have been given the resources and have taken the time and have built a new foundation for my life. A solid foundation of self worth and self love, sounds cliche but it is what it is. There are no words to express my gratitude for the services I have received from Headwaters counseling.

The Bowen Center is a great place for those who want to better themselves and who are willing to put the work in required to do so. However, if you DO NOT want to better yourself or put the work in, they cannot help you, nor can anyone else. You are the only person who can better yourself!
