I just left my stay at Caron's young adult women's unit. I was so pleased with all the staff I interacted with. The RAs I regularly saw - Danielle, Caitlin, Lauren, Ashley, and Lorraine - were all amazing and completely made the experience for me. They were all so supportive and made me feel very seen and cared for throughout my time here. Lori was an amazing counselor and was incredibly helpful through my process of figuring out aftercare and family therapy.
My one gripe is the higher ups - this is no fault of the staff I saw. I felt my safety was not taken seriously. A patient was admitted to YAW who was clearly under the influence (and presumably continued use throughout the time she was there) and was highly aggressive toward all three of us in the unit, one of which was a minor, and staff. This patient was my roommate and I had reported sexual harassment against me the night she was admitted, and that I had felt I couldn't tell her to stop because of her erratic behavior. Although I know staff advocated for us, they were unable to do anything due to their higher ups, leading me to have to sleep on our couch in the lounge to separate myself, despite concerns in her behavior and possible use. Additionally, groups were disrupted by her behavior, and ultimately left me and other affected patients feeling as though our safety was not taken seriously. This was not a case of us not simply getting along, this was a threat to staff and patients - again, one of which was a minor. Aside from the RAs who I know tried all they could, the Caron staff needs to be better about these issues because they seem to be a recurring problem.

Its been 15 years since I've attended a co dependent workshop.There was experiential therapy as well as psycho dramas.I was astounded at the level of expertise and compassion by our counselor.I literally have been on such a wonderful journey,even when it was brutal,since my short stay there. (This is a long one) I’ve had my fair share of therapists before and each time it was a crash and burn situation. It never worked out for me, I always felt like it was too much. I pushed it off until it smacked me in the face. I can genuinely say EVERY SINGLE STAFF MEMBER DOWN TO THE RECEPTIONISTS ( especially Kaela, dr. Nelson, Greg & Nicole for me) welcomed me with opened arms at a time I needed it most. I never not once felt judged nor put down. I was held accountable each step of the way and able to express myself. Each one of them taught me a lot about my triggers, my attachment styles, my anger, the work I had to put in on my self and just the really understanding and loving the overall person I am. They taught me to identify why I was using bad habits to cope with my feelings.
I really don’t have the words to explain how much they have helped me. If so I would be here all day. Let me try to sum it up.
I had never been to therapy long term(some therapists just wouldn’t call back). I had never been on medication for my mental health(I would gas light myself and create bad habits to cope). I was in therapy for about a year and a half with kaela, Greg and dr Nelson. Some days I wish I had never left(I moved out the state). Dr. Nelson always listened to me, he helped me understand what was going on mentally. During my time he worked with me to find medications that helped me function daily. It wasn’t easy but he never gave up and he never pushed me to take anything I didn’t like or want to be on. Greg helped me to look within. He taught me not to bottle up my emotions and how to express what I’m feeling in a better way than I was. I have to give my props to Kaela for dealing with me the longest tho. Instantly I clicked with her. She really sets the bar high when it comes to a therapist for me. She listened to me yap on and on and she didn’t make me feel like I was a burden with my weekly visits. I actually looked forward to going to my visits.. even when I went back on my word. She didn’t make me feel ashamed of myself(No one there did) She always remembered everything, even when I didn’t. She made me hold myself accountable for my actions, as she did also. I loved that about her most. She didn’t let me slip. She helped me realize why I was doing certain things or why I was reacting the way I would and what they could’ve stemmed from. Other therapists didn’t do what they did for me mentally, even spiritually. Everyone at Caron is like a family to me at this point. I recommend everyone to come to Caron. All my friends, family, strangers. They made me realize therapy and asking for help wasn’t bad after all. If you needed a sign. This is it.

I attended the Mommy & Me program here, and let me start by saying: if it wasn’t for my three-month stay, I wouldn’t have my son right now, and I wouldn’t be sober and thriving. This place truly was a life-changing experience. The house is run like a community of moms and children living together, and the staff treats you like family rather than just a patient. They are also incredibly helpful if you are working to regain custody of children in foster care.
However, you should go in with a realistic mindset. You are living with a group of women from all different areas of the state, so there will be drama occasionally. My advice: stay focused on yourself and what you are there for, and you will be fine.
I also feel it’s important to mention that while the program is amazing, there are some areas for improvement. I felt like some of the counselors and RSPs (Resident Support Professionals) could be better focused on their individual clients. Additionally, it can sometimes feel like you can’t voice an opinion or a concern about the staff without being lectured about it later in a group setting.
Despite those frustrations, the core of this program is life-saving. If you stay focused on your recovery and your child, this place can give you a second chance at life.

My 4yr old daughter and myself lived in fountain springs for 6months and I truly believe that without the lady's who run the facility i would have lost my daughter to cys. I'm 7yrs clean today and I still feel like fountain springs saved us. while we lived there my daughter had surgery to remove her tonsils and adnoids at potsville hospital and I was allowed to stay there with her and had special accommodations for a few days after.

I was a client At this drug and alcohol center and I honestly wouldn't have made it through without the nurse manager Rachel, she went above and beyond for me more than I ever expected, and honestly more than I saw her do for any of the other clients .when I was about to get kicked out she didn't just stand by she stood up for me defending me and did everything she could to keep me there .when staying wasn't an option anymore she even offered me a place to sleep on her own couch until I could get into another treatment center that's not something you see everyday and I'll never forget it she didn't just treat me like another client she saw me as a man as someone who was special, and I will always be grateful for what she did And has offered me.

I don't think your program's working very well for me I'm falling back into my old ways and habits. I'm seeing and hanging out with people I shouldn't that are no good for me and Im going to relapse again. Your program needs to keep a closer eye on us. I loved it here n trust me when I first got here I wanted to leave so bad when I finished detox and went to the inpatient side I was trying to get other women to stat after detox, this placed saved my life and let me know it's possible! I celebrated a year on 12/8/17! Thank u for everything the staff is amazing, it's very locked down n strict so u focus on recovery n urself n nothing else . I was hospitalized here in June of 2024 and (quite memorably) had intentionally flooded the bathroom because I believed I was being sucked into the shower drain (I had psychosis following a major sinus infection).
At the time I had left a negative review because it was overall just a terrible experience, but with hindsight that wasn’t really the staff’s fault. I also work in psych now myself, and sometimes medicating someone until they go to sleep and hoping they feel better when they wake up is really all you can do.
Many thanks to the ladies who dragged my panicked and uncooperative self out of the shower, it needed to happen 🫶

WellSpan and DBT — honest review
I want to give an honest review based on my own experience with WellSpan and DBT.
I came into this needing more than someone simply telling me to “think positive” or giving me generic advice. DBT gave me actual tools for dealing with difficult emotions, impulsive reactions, distress, and situations where my brain wants to go straight into fight-or-flight mode.
What I appreciate most is that DBT doesn't require you to pretend that what you're feeling isn't real. It teaches you how to acknowledge what you're feeling while still learning how to choose what you do next.
WellSpan has also given me a place where I could actually work on these things with people who were willing to listen. It hasn't magically fixed everything—and I don't think any honest review should pretend therapy works like a magic switch—but I have learned things I can actually use outside of the program.
I've also learned that progress isn't always some dramatic breakthrough. Sometimes progress is recognizing an impulse and not acting on it. Sometimes it's communicating honestly instead of avoiding something. Sometimes it's simply getting through a difficult day without making the situation worse.
I'm still working on myself. I still have difficult days. But I have more tools than I had before, and that's worth something.
If you're considering WellSpan or DBT, I'd say give it a fair chance. Go in willing to participate, ask questions, and actually practice the skills. You may not walk out magically fixed—but you might walk out with a few tools that can make the next difficult moment easier to survive.

The only issue I have is that I'm an ambulatory wheelchair user and the entrances are listed as being wheelchair accessible. For me personally, they are not accessible and I need the help of someone else in order to get through them as I have issues with my hands which affect me being able to open the doors. The main building entrance doors and the door to their office do not have the wheelchair push buttons on them to open and close the doors,. Also, how the main building doors open make it hard to fit and I have to worry about one of the doors hitting my chair. So, I have to move over for the door to close and then go through the next door.
The reason I like going here:
I had a hard time finding a therapist who I felt safe, supported, and helped me. I really like the therapist I have here, she gives me resources and homework which I feel has been beneficial in a lot of ways. I feel like I'm learning better strategies for my issues and actually seeing growth from the time before coming here to now.

I would like to take the time to give a review. My children have been with therapist Abby for quite some time. Abby is kind and caring. She listens to me and my children and always speaks with such respect. We are not just a number at PC. We are treated like family. We have been to other agency counseling services and NONE of them matched the care we received from Abby. Recently my adult son asked for Abby contact information so he could request her in his journey. Abby made such an impact on him in his youth that he remembered that and wanted her at this point in his life too! That says so much about Abby and the impact she is making on those she serves. I don’t know how my family would have navigated life’s struggles without her help, listening ears, kind heart, understanding and compassion. When you are in great need you need a great therapist. I had a wonderful experience with the parenting service for pregnant women at this location. I specifically want to mention Kathy, who I worked with throughout the program. She is such an incredible person who truly goes above and beyond for the people on her caseload. She doesn’t just help with parenting; she helps with life. When I lost my ID, she actually helped me get it replaced and the program even paid for it. She made such a positive impact on my journey that I actually miss seeing her for our monthly visits!
The facility itself is a secured location, which provided a lot of peace of mind. No one is able to enter the building without ringing the bell to be let in by staff, making it feel very safe and private. If you are a pregnant woman in the Pottsville area looking for support, I highly recommend this service—especially if you get the chance to work with Kathy!

I have been going to PA counseling services for 2 years now and I have to say when I first began going I didn't believe therapy was going to work for me but then I met my therapist Andre Ramirez and he truly made a huge impact in my life. I was completely gone, suicide was everything on my mind, I was at my lowest and today I am extremely happy with the woman I have become and continue to grow into. Therapy works if you allow it to work as far as scheduling my therapist and I have a good patient and therapist relationship so I just call in and enter his ext number and he and I work out scheduling so im not sure why so many negative reviews because I don't have one bad thing to say to God be the glory 🙏🏽

I have been going here for almost 2 years. I have never had an issue with rescheduling an appointment, and even when I missed one, I was able to continue to see my therapist with no issues. I did have to change the therapist due to insurance changes but got matched with a great new one and continue to see them. This is the first time I have felt that my therapist really listens to me and repects the fact that i dont want medication. They listened to that and came up with a treatment plan that helps without medication. It's hard, but with it.
