Unfortunately I had to sleep in mens phase 1 instead of RLM so it took a few days to really feel part of the community. Also I came in with seraquil for sleep that worked for me but they took me off of it and tried other medications that did not work so my sleep wasn't great at all. But other then that I would 100% recommend caron to anyone who wants to recover from addiction. I learned so much about myself and my therapist jessica was unbelievable and soo helpful in my journey. This place truly was a life-changing experience. The house is run like a community of moms and children living together, and the staff treats you like family rather than just a patient. They are also incredibly helpful if you are working to regain custody of children in foster care. However, you should go in with a realistic mindset. You are living with a group of women from all different areas of the state, so there will be drama occasionally. My advice: stay focused on yourself and what you are there for, and you will be fine. I also feel it’s important to mention that while the program is amazing, there are some areas for improvement. I felt like some of the counselors and RSPs (Resident Support Professionals) could be better focused on their individual clients. Additionally, it can sometimes feel like you can’t voice an opinion or a concern about the staff without being lectured about it later in a group setting. Despite those frustrations, the core of this program is life-saving. If you stay focused on your recovery and your child, this place can give you a second chance at life. I'm 7yrs clean today and I still feel like fountain springs saved us. while we lived there my daughter had surgery to remove her tonsils and adnoids at potsville hospital and I was allowed to stay there with her and had special accommodations for a few days after. It never worked out for me, I always felt like it was too much. I pushed it off until it smacked me in the face. I can genuinely say EVERY SINGLE STAFF MEMBER DOWN TO THE RECEPTIONISTS ( especially Kaela, dr. Nelson, Greg & Nicole for me) welcomed me with opened arms at a time I needed it most. I never not once felt judged nor put down. I was held accountable each step of the way and able to express myself. Each one of them taught me a lot about my triggers, my attachment styles, my anger, the work I had to put in on my self and just the really understanding and loving the overall person I am. They taught me to identify why I was using bad habits to cope with my feelings. I really don’t have the words to explain how much they have helped me. If so I would be here all day. Let me try to sum it up. I had never been to therapy long term(some therapists just wouldn’t call back). I had never been on medication for my mental health(I would gas light myself and create bad habits to cope). I was in therapy for about a year and a half with kaela, Greg and dr Nelson. Some days I wish I had never left(I moved out the state). Dr. Nelson always listened to me, he helped me understand what was going on mentally. During my time he worked with me to find medications that helped me function daily. It wasn’t easy but he never gave up and he never pushed me to take anything I didn’t like or want to be on. Greg helped me to look within. He taught me not to bottle up my emotions and how to express what I’m feeling in a better way than I was. I have to give my props to Kaela for dealing with me the longest tho. Instantly I clicked with her. She really sets the bar high when it comes to a therapist for me. She listened to me yap on and on and she didn’t make me feel like I was a burden with my weekly visits. I actually looked forward to going to my visits.. even when I went back on my word. She didn’t make me feel ashamed of myself(No one there did) She always remembered everything, even when I didn’t. She made me hold myself accountable for my actions, as she did also. I loved that about her most. She didn’t let me slip. She helped me realize why I was doing certain things or why I was reacting the way I would and what they could’ve stemmed from. Other therapists didn’t do what they did for me mentally, even spiritually. Everyone at Caron is like a family to me at this point. I recommend everyone to come to Caron. All my friends, family, strangers. They made me realize therapy and asking for help wasn’t bad after all. If you needed a sign. This is it. I am so happy to say that they really work. There was an problem someone else was having and it escalated where this man was yelling at the admin team. For me personally, they are not accessible and I need the help of someone else in order to get through them as I have issues with my hands which affect me being able to open the doors. The main building entrance doors and the door to their office do not have the wheelchair push buttons on them to open and close the doors,. Also, how the main building doors open make it hard to fit and I have to worry about one of the doors hitting my chair. So, I have to move over for the door to close and then go through the next door. The reason I like going here: I had a hard time finding a therapist who I felt safe, supported, and helped me. I came into this needing more than someone simply telling me to “think positive” or giving me generic advice. DBT gave me actual tools for dealing with difficult emotions, impulsive reactions, distress, and situations where my brain wants to go straight into fight-or-flight mode. What I appreciate most is that DBT doesn't require you to pretend that what you're feeling isn't real. It teaches you how to acknowledge what you're feeling while still learning how to choose what you do next. WellSpan has also given me a place where I could actually work on these things with people who were willing to listen. It hasn't magically fixed everything—and I don't think any honest review should pretend therapy works like a magic switch—but I have learned things I can actually use outside of the program. I've also learned that progress isn't always some dramatic breakthrough. Sometimes progress is recognizing an impulse and not acting on it. Sometimes it's communicating honestly instead of avoiding something. Sometimes it's simply getting through a difficult day without making the situation worse. I'm still working on myself. Shout out spicy sport she was a great staff. I came here because of a suicidal attempt and aggression and the psychiatrist recommended me good methods to help like medicine, therapy and other skills. This place is pretty good I don’t understand the bad reviews but everyone has there reasons, I was in two altercations with some peers I was put along with, and staff was very quick to separate us and make things right. Staff is very strict with moderation among the patients even though I would say the rules are a little strict but I don’t blame them it IS a hospital. Overall I liked my stay staff was nice, I was kept away from anything that can harm me it’s a very secured place and if you do what you gotta do you’ll be out quick safe and sound. It may have been a little scary due to some of the people who were also struggling. But I know they cant help it and theres not much a lot of staff can do about certain things. I did have to change the therapist due to insurance changes but got matched with a great new one and continue to see them. This is the first time I have felt that my therapist really listens to me and repects the fact that i dont want medication.
