Spanish Fork, UT | New Haven Treatment Center is a residential treatment facility for young girls aged 14 through 18. The residents at New Haven struggle with mental illness, substance misuse, self-harm, or other behavioral issues. The campus, located in Spanish Fork, Utah, is made up of three large, fully staffed houses that accommodate up to 16 residents. An on-si | Treatments Programs Payment Options | Sending my daughter to a residential treatment center was one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever had to make as a parent, and I was incredibly apprehensive at first. However, our experience with New Haven’s Stabilization & Assessment Program far exceeded every expectation I had. I am genuinely grateful for the level of care, support, and communication we received from day one.
The clinical director and my daughter’s therapist, Cassi, was truly exceptional. Cassi built trust with my daughter in a way I had not seen before, and knowing that my daughter felt safe going to her with anything meant everything to me. The clinical leadership made sure I understood every step of the process, and they took my concerns seriously from the moment we arrived. Their professionalism, compassion, and genuine investment in my daughter’s well-being stood out immediately.
The nursing staff was just as incredible. They consistently went above and beyond to ensure her safety, monitor her needs, and communicate with me about even the smallest changes or questions. There was never a moment when I felt out of the loop. Whether it was a medical update or a quick check-in, their communication was consistent, thoughtful, and reassuring. I could always reach someone when I needed to, and I never once felt like my daughter wasn’t in excellent hands.
One of the biggest strengths of New Haven’s program is how thorough, individualized, and comprehensive their assessment process is. They provided the most detailed psychological evaluation my daughter has ever received, and for the first time, I truly felt like her experiences, symptoms, and struggles were understood with depth and accuracy. They paid attention to nuances that are so often overlooked by other providers, and those insights have already transformed how I support her at home.
Despite some negative reviews in the past, our experience was nothing short of outstanding. The program is thoughtfully designed, tailored to each child’s needs, and grounded in compassion and clinical expertise. I felt supported at every turn; not just my daughter, but me as a parent navigating an overwhelming situation.
My daughter made meaningful progress during her three months there, and the foundation they helped her build is something she continues to benefit from today. I am sincerely grateful for the entire team at New Haven, and I would not hesitate to recommend this program to any family whose child needs this level of care. They truly changed our lives for the better.

The team of therapists, relational coaches, medical staff, and teachers was all needed to create a safety bubble around our teen while she experienced a real and present storm in her life requiring therapy (individual, group, & family therapy). After 12 months of school and therapy, she was able to actually complete high school early and has launched successfully into her college experience. Thankfully, New Haven offers aftercare options to make the transition bearable- it is a lot to transition from a safety bubble to college life. We appreciate the deep care from all the staff, including the cook and night staff, who all make themselves available to the kiddos when a listening ear is needed. The reason for 4 stars was because we would’ve like to see more daily physical activity included in the program for a healthy lifestyle. However, there were parent weekends to national parks and many outdoor opportunities. In summary, New Haven aims at making families whole and we were blessed to be one of those families.

My daughter spent a year at New Haven and it was an excellent experience for us and for her. If you are considering New Haven, you’re in a tough place and have been through a lot. We were there and made mistakes before finding New Haven. The team was excellent - especially her counselor (shout out to the amazing Amy). The depth of the program and the quality of the people had a profoundly positive impact on our daughter and our family. I’m extremely thankful that we found this place. We still stay in touch with multiple families that we met through the program. My daughter supported my writing this review which says everything. These are good people doing good work.

The thing you have to remember, is that this is a rehab! So all the reviews saying that they are terrible, you may want to take with a grain of salt!
I had a great experience with Foothill. Ricky really changed that place for the best, and he worked his butt off with not only the staff, but the clients too, to try to figure out a Happ medium! You can't have everything you want when you're coming off drugs and alcohol! It's a facility that has guidelines and rules! Believe me, I tested and pushed both, and at times told some members of the staff things I shouldn't have said!!! Ricky could have kicked me out a couple times, but worked his tail off with me, and the staff to get me through! I completed the 90 day program a little bit early, cause I started doing the work, and going the extra miles it took. I still struggle now and again but I'll always look here first! Thanks to all of you at foothill that was there th times I've came through! You guys are awesome!

Caseworkers that take a week to call you back. Residential house staff that could give penny about their jobs. Supervisors that had no answers. This is what SWC is all about. No communication. No assistance and to top it all off...their mothers may get to see and have their kids, but the dads are shoved to the side and told no...no...no. My LO never had the opportunity to receive treatment here, but I can't say enough good things about Natalia who works at intake. My son was arrested due to his mental illness. In a frustrating system, Natalia was a shining light who worked hard to help my son get treatment instead of prison. She wrote multiple letters to the judge, New Roads came out and did assessments and validated my questions and concerns. If the actual facility listens and cares like she did, I am sure the place would be amazing. It came highly recommended to me from various parents whose loved one's were able to recover, thanks to New Roads. I truly wish my son could have received the help that he needs from a place like this. Unfortunately, our country still has a long way to go in the criminalization of those suffering with a serious mental illness. Thanks New Roads for all that you tried to do and especially Natalia.

Twenty years ago, I walked through the doors of Odyssey House's adolescent program. The experience profoundly impacted my life, providing me with essential tools for coping, conflict resolution, and leadership that laid the foundation for a successful future. As an adult, with my own firm foundation of faith, I knew I wanted to return and dedicate myself to giving back to the place that gave me a second chance.
It is a true joy and an honor to now work at Odyssey House. The dedication of the entire management and staff is truly inspiring, and it's clear that everyone works tirelessly to provide the best possible care. I am especially grateful to work under the leadership of my boss, Danny and Jeremy, whose strength and vision are invaluable to our team.
Odyssey House’s program excels at providing the life skills teenagers need through a combination of individual and group therapy. From my own experience, I know that many teenagers may not be open to change right away, but the skills taught here are a seed that can grow into a successful, fulfilling life when they are ready to embrace it. I am so proud to be a part of this team and witness the incredible work they do every day.

I also take random UA's. Far as I can tell most everything is bout same as it was after Project & Wasatch combined what not. Oh if I get complaints, I'll share them on here. You can count on it. You can do it, you're worth it. We all have a choice no matter how deep we get. I know sobriety is slow going, especially when you're accustomed to that immediate gradification. It's worth it though. OMFG is it ever. Just keep on keeping on. Sometimes one minute or even one second at a time. I'm starting to legit build my happily ever after. Long way from thinking I was gonna die & not caring. I got my son back. It's amazing how good things get when you're living right. When I was using & focused or dark stuff that's what I got. So happy to be on the other side of the spectrum now. One thing that has me less than happy lately is that I seem to be stuck carry wise which is BS as I've had nothing but clean UA's for like a year. If you are at all considering trying to get your life together and trying to get off heroin, make an appointment and follow through with it these people will change your life. What I noticed very first because my husband and I walked down here out of desperation at 5 in the morning when we came is that everyone was pulling up in nice cars on their way to work and they all looked really happy and it was a time when me and my husband were really really bad addicted to heroin and meth and I realize these are the kind of people I want to surround myself with I totally turned my life around and just a matter of a few months! While I was here there were here usually there was at least one maintenance problem at all times. Diet was so poor that most kids were on constipation meds. There were also multiple times kids were given the wrong meds.
The next only applied to the springville campus (the one everyone starts at). It was a common occurrence for kids to restrain kids due to lack of staff and during codes there were multiple times when kids were left without staff entirely. Conditions were unsanitary and such as period blood that would remain on the stall wall for multiple days and rats on cottages. There were multiple occurences of broken glass, one girl was involved in breaking over 30 wwindows. At one point the windows of my cottage were boarded temporarily and during that time the boards were removed for inspection then put back up. There were many more problems.
The only good thing about PCS are the cottage staff on both campuses. The program its self didnt help me its staff did. I was at the springville campus for about 6 months and the provo campus for about 9. I do not suggest this program for anyone.

Orem, UT | Steps Recovery Centers in Orem, Utah is a full-spectrum treatment center for people with dual diagnosis, that is, people who have mental health and substance use issues. This treatment center serves the Orem community by creating a bridge of healing through their individually tailored treatment plans that will enhance patients’ well-being. Ad | Treatments Programs Payment Options | So I did the inpatient in Payton Utah as well as the day treatment (php) and the night classes (IOP) and I’m currently continuing in the aftercare program. I have been to quite a few treatment centers and Steps stands at the top of all. Their therapist and faculty genuinely care for their clients and tell them what they need to hear, not necessarily what they want to hear. They know from personal experience the struggles of addiction and helped me break down some serious walls that allowed me to hear the messages needed for me to find a new and much happier way of living. Today I am so grateful that I was able to get into step and would recommend it to anyone who is ready to take suggestions and do the work. How freeing it has been for me.

I’ve spent the better part of the last 11 years of my life at Provo Canyon School as a full time teacher and when Covid situations caused a need for additional student life mentors, and since my heart broke for the many teens who were in treatment during the pandemic, I became a substitute evening, and sometimes weekends overnight staff member to help during this time of needed compassion and supervision for the situation of these teens. I am also the parent of a child named Mikey (naming him here because I have four other children and don’t want any of them to feel that their identity and reputation could be compromised by anything I say here about their brother and his experience in five separate behavioral and treatment facilities that he and I together chose to place him in to help him learn to deal with his addiction and his life traumas). In-patient treatment is at best always tough because vulnerable children are away from their parents, family and familiar friends as they voyage into living in a dorm setting with other children with some similar issues, and some with much more complex issues. Provo Canyon School provides these children with fantastic psychiatrists who also work in private practice outside the facility. My son, (who was a student body President, a medical assistant, and, sadly an Opoid addict who sometimes used illegal drugs to self medicate his bi-polar mental disorder) was prescribed, and responded very well to medications similar to what the PCS doctors prescribe our patients. Like some of these respondents on the PCS comments page, he went through spells of feeling inadequately or overly medicated until the right dosage was attained by his doctors and his compliance in taking the meds correctly and having nurses, teachers, staff, and therapists work together to help him communicate and observe the meds that helped him feel “right” mentally. This process is not easy for the patient, family, nor staff or facility in general, and a lot of patience and energy is required to just get the meds right for the desired behaviors to happen. I question negative comments by some of our past students here because time and time again I have witnessed some dramatic and wonderful mental and behavioral improvements in my PCS students within a couple weeks of getting on properly prescribed meds if needed and getting away from the substances that some may have been detoxing from.
In 11 years, I have never seen any patient not have more than enough clean water from clean drinking fountains and more good food and tasty snacks, all planned and reviewed by competent dietary professionals and good cooks. Teachers and staff often dine with patients in the cafeteria and requests for special diet accommodations are often honored.
As far as academics are concerned, I have worked at five accredited public schools in two states and have never worked with more distinguished and professional school academic directors than we have now at PCS and both have been at the school for over ten years.
Many of the teachers have masters degrees and most have double majored with special education credentials to help both gifted and special needs students.
As far as I have been able to determine, comparing PCS with the five facilities that my own son attended, (wish I had known about PCS at the time) the school directors, leadership and all facility employees that I have observed are doing an amazing job of using Trauma Informed Care, best practices, professionalism and kindness in helping patients learn the skills and have the knowledge to become happy, successful and productive members of our society.

Please don’t judge this place just because of the Paris Hilton case that by the way didn’t win the case!. That happened a long time ago, with different staff and a different owner. Things are not the same now. Let that sink in. First of all let me start by no one gets denied food or medical attention if you or your kid claims they did then they still need help cause at that point it was up to them to eat or not and IF it was true they probably got denied food because they asked for something to eat when the cafeteria is closed or because they just want more n staff didn’t have more snacks that was provided !
I’ve been there, and honestly, it wasn’t as bad as people say. I’ve seen kids cry when they had to leave not because they were scared or hurt, but because they didn’t want to go. Some kids even told the staff they felt like family. If it was really that terrible, no one would feel that way. I really liked my staff. They were nice, they helped us through a lot, and they treated us with respect when we followed the rules. We got to do fun activities on the weekends, and when we behaved well, we got rewards like group hangouts or movie time. It wasn’t just about rules it was about learning how to be better and how to work together.
Now, I won’t lie and say everything was perfect. Swing A had some problems. The manager didn’t really seem to care or listen, and it made those days they worked feel kind of cold. Some staff on swing A weren’t as patient either. That part needs to change, because how staff treat kids really matters. But even then, there were still a few good people trying their best. Some people write bad reviews just because they didn’t like being told what to do. This place isn’t meant to be a vacation you can’t sit in your room all day or act out and expect no consequences, I seen a girl get jumped because she refused in her room and that’s exactly why they can’t be in rooms all day cause staff can’t watch everyone all over the unit! It’s not a chill spot It’s about learning and growing. That can be hard sometimes, but that doesn’t mean it’s abusive or unsafe. A lot of people forget that kids and staff are human. Mistakes happen. Sometimes staff were strict or got annoyed, and sometimes kids didn’t follow the rules. But I always felt like there were people there who cared staff are human and have feelings too and take a lot of mental/ emotional abuse too but They listened when you needed to talk and celebrated when you made progress. If it was really such a horrible place, it would have been shut down already. But it’s still open, and it’s still helping kids. It’s not perfect but it’s not awful either. I had a lot of good times and learned a lot about myself, and for that, I’m grateful

Before coming to I AM Recovery you'd find me at 711 right before 7am to get beers and then meth, getting a false sense of confidence, hope, and reality. I was unable to manage my life alone. I was in tears most days 😭 not wanting live, not wanting to exist. I was lost... My dad's death just fed into my behaviors. When I wasn't trying to survive I was locked up in a cell and That had been my life since I was 13. Gangs, jail cells, homeless deals, and mind altering substances. Anything and everything that could blind me to not see my own life... I ended up in Tooele County jail, I got a phone number and a guys name: TYSON... I called, not expecting an answer or any love from him, for my self worth was trash... so why would I think that anyone could show me any love. I had made too many mistakes to not think that. I had been to different treatment centers and felt it was all business. I was bitter and frustrated. When TYSON answered my collect call from jail. I became alert ⚠️ and doubtful. First of all, a lot of treatment centers don't take collect calls and expect you to have money on your books. How could I search and find peace when I needed a dollar. Tyson not only answered once but every time I doubted... I was confused, I couldn't believe it... I even apologized because I was calling him so much doubting that he cared or that he would come pick me up. Then he showed up. I was embarrased 😳 I'll never forget that day. Ever since I spoke to him from jail my life began to transform. When I got to Residential my alerts kicked in again. This is not real I thought... 😐 Boy was I wrong... Everyone at I AM understands and listens to your back story and helps you build a solid recovery... KEITH has shown me so much love and has gotten my head out the gutter many times. I was genuinely seen. I don't feel like another chicken getting fed to be later slaughtered... today all my tears are of appreciation to those who helped me see that I AM worth it. That I AM human. And that I AM loved with all my imperfections. They worked with me since day one. My therapist OLIVIA who I also doubted in the beginning is amazing 👏 she's helped me deal with past abandonment, depression, and sexual traumas to name a few. I've done EMDR with her and I'm able to smile and laugh today 😃 They've held my hand and guided me every step of the way. They've got staff that will challenge you to become the better you and see the you GOD sees... I came out of every recovery group feeling worked out and hopeful. to put a cherry on top there is a fully equipped gym and a nutritionist. Her name is JEAN and she is amazing! I go to Walmart and buy with confidence. I couldn't do this before. It was always the same junk food... Pizza and chips. There is also a man by the name of SHAY. He pissed me off when he touched my wounds. I didn't know that he saw my wounds and was trying help me heal them. My natural self was resisting. Why would anyone care. My old self didn't want to let go of anything... he challenged me many times and helped me see 👀 😌 NATHALIE'S groups are awesome too. I feel nurtured and she is very wise and knowledgeable. I can go on for days talking about everyone here 😌 Thank you TYSON for not ignoring my collect call... We grow together baby! 🫡❤️

I attended Provo Canyon School For Boys in 1977 for one year. Like John G, in the reviews, I too was on the wrong track. Jack the owner was a pompous jack ass but the school and for the most part the teachers and councilors were doing their best. Most graduates of BYU and Mormons. As a 16 year old with no clear idea of life and definitely any idea of what or how to move forward and be a productive person. The school taught me how to set goals and gave me the confidence to take control of my life and learn that I could be productive and enjoy life by developing self discipline and how important and rewarding life could and should be. Nothing is perfect and I had my reservations at times especially with Jack but I learned how to deal with it and by being in a structured environment I grew up and became a more productive and responsible adult. Thank you mom and dad for loving me and I am thankful for the opportunity of being privileged to go here and finding myself. I hope and pray other boys will have the same benefit I did. Provo taught me how to set goals and above all else, like myself and develop a positive self concept. Get the best from opportunities, you weren't doing anything else anyway. :)

I was at PCS in 1982-83. I was a troubled youth growing up in Chicago. I was 12 yrs old when I started going south with my life, substances, liquor, criminal activity and such. Did a stint in juvy for armed robbery and it just kept getting worse due to my choices in my life at that time. I have good parents and siblings but somehow I was just not making the grade in life. At 16 I was sent to PCS. Wasn't to thrilled about being locked up with a bunch of dudes from all over the country. Long story short, My grades went from F's to A's, the teachers there were great. The class sizes were much smaller than the public schools in Chicago, the teachers here gave a d##. My therapist even let me come into his home for Christmas once I got to the level 3&4 in the program. Staff took me out of there to hang out with them at BYU activities. So I learned that I was an ok young man, people did like me I wasn't as bad as I thought I was. I took my SAT,s there and got accepted at USU in Logan,UT. Point is it did stink alot of the time, I missed my family, but I learned self discipline and another (better) way of living. I'm still alive at 58 yrs old. If I didn't come here I would have died before I turned 18, either from violence, drugs or liquor. I look back now and I thank God for that part of my life.you get out of it what you put into it.
