Can’t say that I have ever had a pleasurable experience in an emergency room but Beckley VA Medical Center came quite close. Excellent place that deals with the neediest people, who are in an emotional hole which is difficult to leave, but the counselors of this center can help you.

Brian's Safehouse saved my life, hands down. I read a review stating that the treatment was ineffective, that was not my experience at all. Going to BSH is the most important decision I've ever made. Everything I lost in my addiction has been restored in just a few short years. I'm so thankful for the dedicated and attentive staff at BSH, who made me feel so welcome and loved from the day I arrived on campus. I tried several 30-day treatment programs in my home state of NC, but they did not work for me. I needed more help. The year long program, as hard as it was to commit to at the time, was just what I needed. A life mired in addiction is a hopeless existence if you're not willing to do anything about it. The outcomes are three as I see it: jail, death, or recovery. The decision is simple as look back on it. BSH can change the trajectory of your life, it did mine!

My son has been sober now for 8 years. Brian’s Safehouse changed him from a drug fiend to a tax-paying, loving man with a wonderful family. He learned the skills necessary to overcome his addiction and to maintain his sobriety. They have a great recovery community for support, social interaction, and, if desired, spiritual support.

I can not believe this place is still open. June 2020 was the worst experience of my life. Cops falsifying court cases and dropping people off hours from home, is in humane but West Virginia State Police can do whatever they want to wives. Forced to take meds- starved for 2 weeks. A nurse literally threw a patient out of her wheelchair for NO reason. Men share quarters with Woman. No theraphy. Any rec activity was cancelled. Nurses run around at night with needles jabbing patients just because they didn’t want them to SPEAK…. I called 911 while I was in there and all hell broke loose. Nurses refused to let help come. You could hear the children SCREAMING, from floors away. This place CAUSES mental issues. Dr Lilly came up MIA….hope he is OK

I have Complex PTSD. Was patient profiled as an addict. My counselor didn't even know what "gaslighting" was. Not to mention she was rude and indifferent. Reminded me of another experience I had here where the counselor preached religion to me. But I was dumb enough to go back I guess. Staffed with pseudo professionals just like most other businesses in this area.

I loved this place. My first 2 days I spent upset but I was given a roommate who pushed me to get out of my comfort zone. The group therapy and activities were really helpful and I learned a lot from them in the short stay I was there. All it took them was 4 days to get me on meds that completely changed my outlook on life and helped me start sleeping. The staff was so nice and helpful I felt bad asking them for things I needed but they never let it bother them. They were so great. I made a few great friends in there and my roommate has become my best friend. We were/are fighting similar demons and we have gotten really close. The food was good 90% of the time and we were fed very well. We had a ton of stuff to do to occupy our time. We colored, did word finds, played uno and uno dare and laughed so much, we did so many puzzles and in group we got to play wii bowling and cornhole. There is a tv in the day room and we got to pick what we watched to pass the time. I really can’t brag enough about this place. My experience was very good here despite the reviews online which is why I’m sharing mine. I wouldn’t be alive if it wasn’t for the wonderful woman Ashley who stayed on the phone with me til I was safe and my roommate who looked after me the whole time I was there, and the wonderful staff. There really wasn’t a single staff member I didn’t like or get along with. I’m so thankful for this place and if I ever get in a head space like I was before this is where I’ll be going. Hopefully that never happens tho. Thank you to all the help I received.

If I could give no stars I would…First all I hope you piece together who this as my mom worked there for 3-4 years, through the pandemic. I drove her frequently to the facility though you have two newer and nicer facilities that are not open due you say to cost but I’d be embarrassed to admit such a lie. Secondly, thanks for that plant you Took out of the office, real thoughtful. It was super nice to lock up the old stale snacks as well and brag about your kids football season over and over. Also really great when the “higher ups” vacay at the Hamptons and leave the other workers swamped with the workload. That or they take two days off to get their hair done. Then after working through the pandemic, even with 90 some employees quitting you called the police on my 68 year old mother who was sick for 1.5 days and was too exhausted to call in. Then you say her behavior, was inept and accused her of misconduct. Really something you sit in that shamble of a building and put on heirs. You are lucky you got my mothers time of day. Being my first cousin went to Le Rosey Boarding school in the Swiss Alps,(A real Neurologist, not a pretend I care “Counselor”) you really stretch yourself thin with those Free Chick Fila-Meals, how ever does your facility afford that? Face it, Helen Lang you are a cold, manipulative, slandering nobody. Take one for the team and retire. Let’s not forget how safe your parking lot is. Only in the most Kosher Part of Town…Sure you care.

When did Blue Ridge Behavioral Healthcare replace Jewish Family Services payee system? Blue Ridge Behavioral Health Care has no right to become a payee for veterans and for those individuals on disability. They are overcharging utilities and rent and using the extra income from their payee system to operate it their facility. Blue Ridge Behavioral Health Care is also keeping money from the SSA check and not giving the full monthly amount to SSA recipients. Why is BRBHC switching patients medication? Counselors should be listening to their patients and not prescribing medication they do not need to drug them up.

The clinicians are very intelligent and can really help if you let them. The peer recovery specialist knows what most of us has gone through and showed wonderful support. Healthy menus, and a clean house. My only concern is a few of the women that run the day to day groups can be bullies, and rude. Several clients had the same complaints during the time I was there. If they would fix that I would recommend and even encourage users to come here. It will change your life
