This place pulled me outta a dark spot. I came in feelin’ like death 🤕, but they knew exactly what to do. The detox part? Rough. But they had me in a clean bed , checking on me non-stop. My son is on the autism spectrum, and Harsha’s child psychiatrist, Dr. Hinshaw, understood his needs from day one. They made thoughtful medication adjustments that genuinely helped him stabilize, and they approached him with patience, structure, and compassion. He told us more than once that Harsha “felt like a healing place,” which meant everything to us as parents.
He participated in daily coping-skills groups, gym time, and arts-and-crafts therapy, all of which helped him express himself and learn healthier ways to manage difficult emotions. The progress he made in just a short time was remarkable.
I also want to highlight the therapist we worked with, Julia, who helped us create a personalized electronics plan to reset expectations at home. Coming from an “all-access, all-the-time” approach to screens, her guidance gave us a clear, practical roadmap we could actually follow, and my son is already practicing what he learned.
Every staff member we interacted with was kind, professional, and truly invested in helping him succeed. We left not only with a more stable and confident child, but with tools and routines that will help us support him long after discharge.

I travel from Mount Carmel to see my therapist here. I love her and she never makes me feel like a bother. She has helped me in many ways. Sometimes they can't get me in as quickly as theyd like but I know it's because they have an overwhelming influx of patients and not enough therapists to help everyone which is not their fault. This place is a JOKE for Mental Health help. Alex and Lindsey helped turn my sons against me and the Director had the nerve to suggest that I receive my own counselor through their horrible services. If you don't want your kids turned against you and brainwashed, don't take them there for help! Your kids will be brainwashed to not have a relationship with you. WORST Health Department in the area! I didn't even want to give a 1 star rating but it made me to be able to leave this review!

This is by far the best detox place for at least alcohol. I have been in and out of centers like this since I was in my early 20s. I am 38 now. I went here before I went to Gateway rehab in Springfield. Made the withdrawals almost non existent. Program is Only 3 days!!! Staff is amazing!!! They give you the right medication to ease ALLLL the pain. The other places do not give IV Ativan like this place if you need it. Last time I just did oral Ativan. If your thinking about it. It’s 3 days of your life to be sober or at least a chance to stay sober without the pain and agony that comes with WITHDRAWALS!!!! I am a professional alcoholic. You get your own room and you sleep most of the time. This place is like a little secret. Ativan has been a miracle medication to me. Also helps with your anxiety. ❤️

It's about living in your (GIFT FROM GOD) as representatives of The MESSAGE OF LIFE!!! YOU KNOW Great Customer Service when it's presented with concerned and an eagerness to help!!! With no judgement involved. That's what I experienced today and will be forever grateful for these 2 ladies who gave me HOPE that 2nd Chances aren't deserved their given freely like (GRACE AND MERCY!!;) Chestnut Health Services got originals in the house!!! I'll never forget the feeling that I had when I walked into gateway in Springfield il. I was in terrible condition. The moment I walked through the door I had an overwhelming feeling that I was going to be ok and I was just where I needed to be. Mr. James sits at the front door. He's the most polite, well mannered, welcoming, man I've ever met in my life. My heart was so happy to see him. Nicest man I've ever met. From there it just kept getting better. I met Josh Ronan. He truly cared about me. He made me feel like I belonged. I finally belong somewhere. And that is a feeling I can't describe. Then I met James on the men's unit. He is a thors hammer of a man. He was wonderful also. He made my heart happy. My counselor was Rhonda. She went above and beyond to help me with all my needs. I highly recommend gateway in Springfield il to any and all needing assistance. This place helped to save my life. They gave you all the tools you need to recover. Beyond thankful for the support, care, and attention given to my loved one in treatment. They supported and encouraged him through heavy loss and lasting grief. His counselors and support staff were excellent. Nothing matched the energy and care that is shown from the moment you enter the door by James at the first desk. He is an example for all treatment facilities on being open, caring, and non judgemental. He is a rare gem in this world.
