My experience with CMHC varies. Thankfully, most of it was positive. I been going here since 2020 or earlier. My therapist, at the time, was very helpful but eventually quit. This led to me meeting my new therapist. Very kind, sweet, and goes up and beyond for my mental health. However, that cannot be said about my previous psychiatrist. She kept on booking up her appointments to the point she could barely see me or anyone, leaving voicemails doesn't do anything, and I even went to the hospital after I told her I needed different medicine and she "couldn't be seen" despite it being an emergency. Don't get me wrong, my psychiatrist was intelligent, but incredibly and sadly unavailable. I believe she has quit working there or has very limited patients now. When trying to find ANOTHER psychiatrist from CMHC, they were all booked up constantly. So I just found an online psychiatrist and went from there. TLDR: I'm glad I got the help I needed and still do, but I understand everyone's bad experiences here too. It does not surprise me. However, I would give this place a chance if it meant my mental health was on the line.

This was the third rehab center that my wife attended. My wife wasnt in a good place mentally when I dropped her off. Blaming, heavy, burdened, joyless. I talked to her 7 days in and she was positive, light spirited, and exhibited empowerment. She has talked more about her alcoholism and knows what led up to it because Tara required her to do a timeline of life events. She seems much in touch with herself and better equipped as a result. She also had an excellent counselor that provided very pointed counseling specific to my wife’s life and needs. Based on what I learned from my wife I think everyone could use a little of what TARA has to offered regardless of whether u have an addiction or not. I highly recommend.

I love Tara. The staff are all respectful and compassionate. The curriculum took a deep dive into my history to help bring to light past experiences and how they affect my current life. The days were broken up with little “outings” where we were taken offsite for various activities. Management has clearly worked hard to find a program that works well, and I am so thankful that I was able to attend it.

Before Hickory I’ve never experienced any sort of rehabilitation. In ANY aspect of my life. I was WRECKED. So my expectations were very “surfaced”. The tools and practices the staff, therapists, BHT’s and even the front desk and office staff provide go beyond just the addiction part. Even when some of us are at our absolute lowest and have lost sight of everything and everyone else…. It’s impossible, even then to lose sight of someone making us feel GENUINELY cared about. I’ll always remember the time we spent together Hickory!!! All 3 times of them.

I can’t say enough about CAT! The simple facts are that this place and all of the kind souls who make it operate have helped me through the darkest times of my life. With a host of resources I was not only able to work on my recovery, court services worked by my side every step of the way to resolve my legal obligations as well. The inpatient and out patient services are truly amazing and life saving. As someone who had done both and still uses the outpatient I’m beyond satisfied with how my treatment is going. Both my therapist and psychiatrist actually listen, ask clarifying questions and don’t leave me feeling unseen or invalidated. I would recommend this place in a heartbeat.

Talbert House has truly helped me. The staff there are amazing, and always try their best to help us. There are staff who will spend their money and make us breakfast some mornings. Christmas, although sad, was truly fun. One of the clinical staff came in and played some games with us. Although the program can be hard, I believe it can truly help you. The program can be stressful at times, but the staff are there to try and help you. My favorite staff, Ms. Beth, always had the newest shoes on. She, along with all the staff, truly helped me. The choice I made to go to HCBTS was one of the best decisions I’ve made in my life. Recovering from addiction isn’t easy but it is definitely easier with a staff that is very educated and caring. Talbert House on Gelnway Ave has been taking care of me since 2012. I was in a really bad way and they go above and beyond for my care. It's easy getting in with a therapist and their psychiatrist Dr. Pelnick is the best doctor I've ever had. They listen to you here and find what can help you most.
