My experience with CMHC varies. Thankfully, most of it was positive. I been going here since 2020 or earlier. My therapist, at the time, was very helpful but eventually quit. This led to me meeting my new therapist. Very kind, sweet, and goes up and beyond for my mental health. However, that cannot be said about my previous psychiatrist. She kept on booking up her appointments to the point she could barely see me or anyone, leaving voicemails doesn't do anything, and I even went to the hospital after I told her I needed different medicine and she "couldn't be seen" despite it being an emergency. Don't get me wrong, my psychiatrist was intelligent, but incredibly and sadly unavailable. I believe she has quit working there or has very limited patients now. When trying to find ANOTHER psychiatrist from CMHC, they were all booked up constantly. So I just found an online psychiatrist and went from there.
TLDR: I'm glad I got the help I needed and still do, but I understand everyone's bad experiences here too. It does not surprise me. However, I would give this place a chance if it meant my mental health was on the line.

Before Hickory I’ve never experienced any sort of rehabilitation. In ANY aspect of my life. I was WRECKED. So my expectations were very “surfaced”. The tools and practices the staff, therapists, BHT’s and even the front desk and office staff provide go beyond just the addiction part. Even when some of us are at our absolute lowest and have lost sight of everything and everyone else…. It’s impossible, even then to lose sight of someone making us feel GENUINELY cared about. I’ll always remember the time we spent together Hickory!!! All 3 times of them.

I did ECT through Lindner Center late last year. Every person who worked there was kind, caring, and professional. Everything was explained thoroughly and all my questions were answered.
I wasn’t sure if the ECT was helpful but after a couple of months, everyone close to me saw it. I’m so thankful that I was able to help through Lindner. Previous to this, I had done basically all that was available (PHP, IOP, TMS, Ketamine), besides regular therapy sessions, and meds.
Update: It’s late Oct and I’ve been doing ECT since Dec, so close to a year. My mental health has continued to improve and I haven’t been in crisis all year!

Talbert House has truly helped me. The staff there are amazing, and always try their best to help us. There are staff who will spend their money and make us breakfast some mornings. Christmas, although sad, was truly fun. One of the clinical staff came in and played some games with us. Although the program can be hard, I believe it can truly help you. The program can be stressful at times, but the staff are there to try and help you. My favorite staff, Ms. Beth, always had the newest shoes on. She, along with all the staff, truly helped me. The choice I made to go to HCBTS was one of the best decisions I’ve made in my life. Recovering from addiction isn’t easy but it is definitely easier with a staff that is very educated and caring. It's easy getting in with a therapist and their psychiatrist Dr. Pelnick is the best doctor I've ever had. They listen to you here and find what can help you most.
