The staff were so supportive and honestly with all I was going through while I was there I couldnt have made it through without them. When I got on my own two feet it was a little scary because I had them there in emergencies and I would be on my own. But they have definitely gave me the courage and support to know that I can do it on my own. I can not give enough good words about how they helped me. I am so greatful for everything they did for me. The ywca is honestly a great place to empower women to get better for people who dont have the support system in their life. Reality is there is not a perfect parent out there. Some of the bad reviews with this place I believe is that maybe they were not putting forth the effort. Possibly people need to stop living their life on defense. These ladies and a few men really care about their families. It is not easy for them to watch the kids hearts melt. If you are a client then realize this is your kids time. This is not for you. Yes, it is so you can bond with your child. Please let your child leave your emotions at the door. That time is important for your child. Engage as much as possible and compliment your kids. You can do it. I promise you got this. It is so important to show up. If you do anything on the Case plan the most important part is to be there for your kids. They notice when you do not show up. Please do not take this part of the case lightly. Whatever you have going on outside of visitation do not bring it here. These people tri their best. Your family can and will get through this. Waited only a few more minutes for my nurse to come into my room, and only another couple of minutes before I saw a doctor. They were very prompt even tho the er was obviously busy. They were very understanding of my health problem when I explained what was wrong. They didn't judge me whatsoever. They treated me the same as they would any other person. They made me feel welcome, equal, and worthy of care. In the past, I haven't gone to the er (when I really needed to) because I was embarrassed and ashamed to have to admit what my problem was caused by. The doctors and nurses at Fort Hamilton Hospital did not judge me when I explained, they were thankful for my honesty because now they could treat my condition better knowing the full story, then they never brought it up again. Nobody looked at me differently, or acted like I was some kind of drug seeker. These people were wonderful. They eased my concern IMMEDIATELY, and never said another thing about it. Brenda 1 month ago My experience with CMHC varies. Thankfully, most of it was positive. I been going here since 2020 or earlier. My therapist, at the time, was very helpful but eventually quit. This led to me meeting my new therapist. Very kind, sweet, and goes up and beyond for my mental health. However, that cannot be said about my previous psychiatrist. She kept on booking up her appointments to the point she could barely see me or anyone, leaving voicemails doesn't do anything, and I even went to the hospital after I told her I needed different medicine and she "couldn't be seen" despite it being an emergency. Don't get me wrong, my psychiatrist was intelligent, but incredibly and sadly unavailable. I believe she has quit working there or has very limited patients now. When trying to find ANOTHER psychiatrist from CMHC, they were all booked up constantly. So I just found an online psychiatrist and went from there. TLDR: I'm glad I got the help I needed and still do, but I understand everyone's bad experiences here too. It does not surprise me. I think more personal counseling would be beneficial with trauma. No caffeine and no sugar took some getting used to but i got so healthy while being there, I felt great when I left! I had a medical emergency while in residential treatment and the input i got from Dr.Soto was completely wrong, i can count on one hand how many times i interacted her, she had no idea what she was talking about but the rest of the staff made up for that. Overall I had a great experience at the Ridge. I would recommend this to everyone.
