The five stars I'm giving is only for the outpatient part. Rachel is a great counselor and knows her stuff. I learn a lot from her. Jessica Hartz is the best employee at Adds. She bent over backwards to get me into inpatient. She is truly a blessing. She's a really good counselor also. The staff down at inpatient needs reevaluated and they need to give them UAS. If they want their clients to stay clean down there they shouldn't let their employees do meth. If I wasn't so serious about my recovery and If it was early in my recovery I'm sure I would have walked out and got high but by the grace of God I'm 106 days sober today.

The level of care here is unmatched. Michelle has been my provider for several years now, and I have never felt more respected or seen from a mental health provider. My experience here has been 💯, start to finish. From the front desk, to the neuropsychologist, this place has provided a wonderful team of people. They are kind and empathetic, patient and supportive. If you are having trouble with knowing when your appointments are, make sure that you are set up with their text and email notification system. It’s great!! Thanks especially to, Victoria, Seth, Christina, and to the support staff, Cheyanna and my wonderful medical assistant that I can’t remember the name of. Thank you!!!

You won't find a better place for your mental health needs. Dr. Sanchez is the absolute best there is! I can't thank him enough for all he has done, and continues to do for me. He takes his time, really listens, and cares deeply about his patients. I have worked with a couple of the therapists. One, Rob, is no longer there, having gotten more education and moved away. He was amazing! Mike is awesome, and I am so thankful to have him on my team. He really cares, listens, and is just great! The nurses are also caring, compassionate, and really take an interest in you personally. The office staff is also the best. They work hard to see that your needs are met. As you can tell if you've read my entire review, I wouldn't go anywhere else! Thank you Great River Mental Health for ALL you do!!

As someone who has been to several treatments, The Abbey is the only place that, after going, I’ve been able to maintain my sobriety. The staff is brilliant and very kind. Cfr has literally changed my life in such positive ways I never thought were possible. I was an extremely lost and addicted individual. After 21 of my 34 years of life being helplessly addicted to a number of drugs and gambling my life away, I received a call. The lady on the phone said her name was Shea and asked if I was ready to get help. I don't think I went after that phone call but it got me thinking about my life and the second time she called I knew I needed to at least try, as I was literally on the brink of death. So I did I called my sister and had her take me to guide links. Cfr saved my life that day and started me on my journey to living a sober life filled with happiness and endless support. My family has began trusting and supporting me as well and I know if it had not been for cfr I would not be where I am at today. There were a number of individuals at CFR crucial in my successful recovery. Starting with all of the residential techs guiding me through my initial withdraws and struggle I endured while in residential. Successfully graduating me from that program. Knowing I had a battle ahead of me cfr enrolled me into there IOP program where I'd like to give a shout out to the staff of all cfr. Nancy, Ronda, Hailey, Weller, and Lori you all have changed my life and I am forever grateful... I am 90 days sober today and happier than I ever thought possible. I attend church every Sunday and also continue my recovery in eop through cfr. I have found happiness and sobriety thanks to all of you at CFR and only hope anyone out there struggling with addiction can also find you guys and receive this gift of a good life as I have. I love you all and if there is anyway I could help in any way it would be my pleasure. God bless you all, and thank you for giving me the tools I needed to succeed in my journey to sobriety.

Regarding the walk-in intake, So far I have done intake and the process for that was long. They started at 10am but I had already been there since 8:12am waiting. I was the last person they accepted that day totalling 4 of us. I had to wait until each person in front of me was done, about 45 mins to 1 hour each. I was there a total of about 5 hours beginning to end. At the end you schedule a follow-up and it was 3 weeks out. Once you check in theoretically you could leave but about 2 hours in the called me in to verify my financial info. So I just stayed.

These people are amazing in helping us. You'll have your reviews that claim otherwise but those are people who don't want to follow rules or are not serious about recovery and leading a normal life. Im in a much better place because of them. Rules change but they post them and tell you. The counselors and nurses have their own set of rules to follow and shooting the messenger isn't very kind. I've had 3 counselors but one received a promotion, one moved away, and my current Pam is amazing. I get sound and useful advice from them all. They help me fix issues. They are not just talk. If you want your life back and truly want help id go here. I drive an hour and 45 minutes just to get help from them specifically. I regret none of the gas mileage...

Edited Review: I had to come back and update my review after a year and a half. In my last review, I gave them one star because no one ever answered the phone. It didn’t seem like they had a receptionist or enough staff to handle calls if one person was busy. Now, every time I call, someone answers right away and I don’t have to leave a voicemail anymore, which is great! They’ve improved so much compared to a couple of years ago. Their communication has also gotten much better — they now call you back promptly or send updates through the MyChart app regarding prescriptions or when they’ve sent them to your pharmacy. On top of that, the staff I’ve spoken with have all been very friendly and helpful. I really appreciate you guys listening to feedback and making positive changes.

I have never had a problem at the Robert Young center. They are not perfect, but no one is perfect. However I really do not like talking to a television screen instead of face to face with a person. This is very impersonal like talking to a robot.

Each of us have our own experiences and interpretations of “What is a Good Health Care Team’” where you feel heard, there is respect, there is follow through, and YOU are an active team member. My Health Care Team — made up of multiple specialists across several facilities led by one of the most fabulous medical quarterbacks — Dr Reith — with numerous other coordinating specialists — De Andrade et al. Despite other Iowa Health Care Facility choices, it is my opinion that University of Iowa Health Care System has some of the best health care specialists in Iowa City— that are truly patient centered that will allow you to become a part of a strong health care team.
