Stay away from this treatment center, they will not help you at all, the only thing they did was lie to me because they never fulfilled what they promised, if they are not able to keep their promises they should not promise anything! It is very unprofessional on their part.

I have been using this VA for over 8 years now, and it has been the best VA out of the 4 different VA's that I used over many years. Recently the community care office has been slow at renewals, but I know they are short handed now. I would highly recommend this VA and we must fight to keep it the way it is.

We are traveling and hubby realized he forgot one of his medicines. The very nice man (patient coordinator I think) was so understanding and walked us to the correct people to get the medication. He went beyond helpful and had us on our way within an hour. What a God-send.

I run a sober living house and I will only send the females to this program that once upon time saved my lost soul. Drowning in pain , hopeless and lost. I got help here. These days I'm currently seeing Sara Martin and I just cant say enough good things about her. She truly cares about her patients and it shows.
I've NEVER EVER had any issues nor do I have any complaints about the Dr's. The front desk is another story. I feel this position should be given to someone with patients .understanding and just kind...that should be a requirement for the job...and we the people should not even have to be saying this. You would think it would just be a given.. being they're dealing with sick and elderly people .also certain Dr's are there only on Tuesdays and Thursdays... take that into consideration..

I began much-needed individual therapy this month at New Mexico Solutions. It has helped my interior life substantially already. I want to mention two qualities that stand out.
The first was what has helped me the most. I have worked thus far with Alexa Brown who is doing a phenomenal job taking me seriously. I struggle with the impression that the people around me do not, on even the most fundamental level, have any respect for me, and, as I unravel myself in order to heal the parts of myself about which I'm most ashamed, Alexa's unwavering validation has been invaluable. I could not have asked for a person with whom it is easier to speak.
The second was the ease by which I have been able to access therapy. I found it surprising that I could manage to fit anything at all into my schedule, given how much I've struggled to access other forms of healthcare since moving to New Mexico. Many thanks to the staff at New Mexico Solutions for making the process easy.

I want to start by saying it takes a lot for me to write a public review on Google (especially about something so personal), but this place surly deserved a full review.
My husband and I sent our daughter to this facility hoping she would get some serious, intensive help for suicidal ideation and serious suicidal attempts, among other issues. We really needed the support and structure a residential facility could offer. Unfortunately, we experienced nothing but issues with this facility. The issues began almost immediately. The facility forwarded on personally addressed emails to third parties, they lost a file of my daughters birth certificate, social security card, immunization records, and insurance cards. I was told several times “they would look into the situation” but never heard back as to whether the facility found these documents. I rejected the counselors treatment plan twice because it was so poorly written, the counselor wrote her plan based on third party information from the assessor and incorrectly stated information in her plans, we were told the care team at the facility could not collaborate with our at home care team because that was “inappropriate,” family therapy sessions were consistently cancelled, treatment plan sessions were consistently cancelled, my daughters medication was never reviewed or changed despite our concerns of the cocktail she was on, and I was never contacted about insurance evaluations and reevaluations for continuation of care (despite reaching out for a status). Additionally, I really worried about the counselor herself and how qualified she was to work with such an intense case. I asked countless times to speak with supervisors and other care providers but never received any calls, return calls, or emails from any of the supervisors or care team members. The final straw was when the facility lost licensure but failed to inform our family and instead allowed for insurance to break the news. If you need serious help for a serious situation, do NOT send your family member here. If you enjoy working with a circus of unprofessional, uncommunicative, and unlicensed individuals, this is your facility.

Desert Hills was a God send for my granddaughter. The staff of her unit provided her with the tools to become a functional teenager. Her therapist was exceptional. It is a difficult task to transition a person back to highschool life. They did a great job. No it is not perfect. There are a lot of challenges. They handled them well. The calling is hard to connect to your adolescent but when you handle that many callers it is tough. Thanks again for everything you have done for us.

My experience with Rio Grande Counseling is one of uplifting support and real understanding of my issues and past experiences because my Counselor had lived and survived it himself. It is really easy to attend groups over Zoom and they will work with you instead of making it harder when it comes to your work schedule and whatever else life might throw at you. My grandson is in here. It took him a bit to adjust. He's been in here for a bit he doesn't like being locked up. But he's been to a few other places before he got here. But this place is way better than the other facilities he's been in. Who is going to like being locked up the question is are you going to learn from it or keep on doing the same thing. Break the rules you come to a place like this one or you go to a juvenile detention center. This place is like a retreat by comparison. They let your parents bring you healthy foods snacks games books you don't get those in other facilities. Especially in juvenile detention nothing goes in.

I was here in 1998-1999 in B.. I was the one that ran out the van on a late night drive. Probably the reason why there ain't handles in the inside of the vans.. It was cool here they feed you good back then I don't know now though.. I was there for six months maybe longer. If you want the help they will help you... UNM is not only the state university hospital but it has the best children’s hospital in the USA I had my first two at Loveless Hospital it was good but hands down I had my two others at UNM and they went beyond and over to meet my needs and I’m sure the rest of the units are the same way with there Patients..... ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I've been working with trish for nearly 3 years. I've been in therapy since I was 7. I never got help like I did with trish. I came to her a shattered soul really just lost to the world. She breathed life into me. I cqnt explain it any other way. I'm no longer under any legal obligation to see her. I do tho. I've been seeing her a whole year now with no order. I just keep soaking up her support. She's not just my Dr she's been my light. I wanna encourage anyone lost and broken to give these guys a chance they really did help me.

This place saved my life. When I was admitted, they were very kind, called me not only by how I look (masculine) but respected my preferred name. There was lots of outside time. The staff were amazing, if needed you could get a hug, and helped me with everything! Just absolute saints. Even when I started my period, they staff were amazing, supplied me with plenty of spare pants + pads, and were absolutely amazing. The night staff I got for about half of my stay was very strict, and I very much appreciated it, as it can get chaotic, but it was just absolutely amazing, they helped me through panic attacks and everything, I just can't express how much they helped me!!! I will always consider this place as a home ❤️

this place is nicer than others, (presbyterian) and i appreciate that they dont have cameras in the bedrooms for privacy. You can also ask techs for hugs if you would like, this really helped me as one of my coping skills in physical touch and helps from my derealization.
I wish we got to go outside more though, and the seclusion room is a bit less comforting than it should be.
but overall, it was okay and it helped.

If I could give them negative stars i would. DO NOT GO TO THIS CLINIC. They are nothing but problems and do not care about the patients. In December the overdosed him, then shorted him on his take homes which then had him in withdraw. He continues to try and meet with the counselor and they never hold up to the appointment. Its excuse after excuse as to why the counselor is not available. They wanted him to sit at the clinic all day to try and meet with the counselor. He has a full time job and cannot sit down there all day to try and meet with the counselor. They then make a phone appt and the counselor does not call at the scheduled appt time or calls 2 hours after the scheduled appointment. When he calls he gets the voicemail and leaves a voicemail. Then they accuse him of not meeting with the counselor. He does his UA as asked, but no one documents and asks him to do a UA every time he goes in. This is just a few problems.. Not to mention the office staff is horrible. I can go on and on

I stayed here back in the beginning of 2018 till almost the ending of it I know it might have drastically changed here but when I was here most of the staff was helpful and really nice, gave you respect if you respected them. I feel this place is only good for someone staying here for shelter. Definitely not a way to get help unless your 16 and can go to the youth services nextdoor for even more support as long as I have remembered since the shelter can be holding kids that barely got out of a detention center.

THIS PLACE SAVED MY LIFE! Like lots of people out there i struggled with addiction, going nowhere fast and pretty much bed ridden! I was lucky enough to receive 1 of very few openings at the time and now I've been a patient here with this team for many years! I started with no hope in sight to being clean now over 10yrs and running my own business! The staff is amazing and kind and more like family! I look forward to my appointment days it's like visiting friends! If your serious about making a change this is where you need to be! But don't squander your chance, it's a blessing! Dr Ro is definitely one of if not the best Dr I've ever had! Thanks guys! I know i say it alot but you are all the reason I'm still here and living my best life! Our 17 year old daughter discharged a few weeks ago. She had several challenges going in to the program. We had previously used a wilderness therapy program with little to no success. Per a recommendation of an educational consultant, we contacted Desert Hills. We toured and talked to several places around the country before deciding on Desert Hills. I would say we were 90% satisfied with everything that happened while she was there. When you have that many (maybe 8-10) emotionally challenged teenagers in a unit, things are bound to happen. If you go into a program like this expecting perfection, you will be sadly disappointed. What we liked most about the program was her therapist Yvonne. Our daughter truly bonded with her and had a great working relationship with her. They kept us informed about any problems that arose very quickly, yes even in the middle of the night, because of a time difference. The billing and travel arranging staff were always helpful. We were able to visit at least once a month and take her out for a day on pass. She was also able to call home almost every night. Her stay was approximately 4 months. We see lots of positive changed in her ability to deal with her personal issues. As I stated before, if you think you are going to get a perfect child back, think again. Our daughter, because of her bonding with Yvonne, had a positive outcome because she wanted it. Not because she was forced to. Some of the negatives include daily unit staff being sometimes ill equipped to deal with unruly teenagers. (although I would not want there job) Lack of time off the units to get out into the community to relieve boredom and stress was sometimes an issue. Our daughter gained weight as a result. Also, on the day of admission, no one was clearly in charge of taking parent on a tour of the facility and explaining who the contacts were for each department.
Overall it was a positive experience and but the residents will only get out of the program what they are willing to receive.

Desert Hills was a God send for my granddaughter. The staff of her unit provided her with the tools to become a functional teenager. Her therapist was exceptional. It is a difficult task to transition a person back to highschool life. They did a great job. No it is not perfect. There are a lot of challenges. They handled them well. The calling is hard to connect to your adolescent but when you handle that many callers it is tough. Thanks again for everything you have done for us.
